Not sure if everyone gets the point of the Taurus SHO and with what other cars this competes with. To compare this to an A4 or BMW335 is inaccurate. This is a FULL-SIZE CAR. Look at the specs... this car is wider, longer and taller than an A8 (not the A8L), Lexus LS, Toyota Avalon, Caddy STS, and near the size of the MB S550! Most comparisons put this car in with the G8, 300C/Charger, Lucerne, Kia Amanti, and Toyota Avalon. For me this seems like a nicer car than the G8, and 300C (the only REAL competitors for me), but I'll have to reserve judgement until the G8 GXP and the SHO are at the dealers. I do like to row the gears, so the G8 is intriguing...
Owned a '94 SHO. Gave me my first lesson on torque steer!! Loved the Yamaha engine. Hated all the other Ford parts. Starting needing major repair work at 65k miles. I always liked the SHOGun car. Ford Fiesta with a SHO engine installed in the back driving the rear wheels. Watch Jay Leno driving his around... I don't really care so much about compressed vs uncompressed. What I want is MORE HD channels from FiOS!!
Can someone please explain why GM needs to sell the same vehicles as Chevy, Pontiac, Buick, GMC and Cadillac? They only need three... Chevy, Cadillac and Hummer. With less car models, maybe they can introduce new designs more frequently. Honda is on a 3-4 year rotation with most of their cars. And what's with the HHR? Did GM just slap their badges on a PT Cruiser or what? Come up with your own designs...

Ford needs to drop Mercury and continue with Ford = Honda and Lincoln = Acura. Keep it simple... Also, where is the enthusiasts version of the Five-Hundred? Has Ford not learned anything from Chrysler? Drop a V-8 in the Five-Hundred and put 19" wheels on it and people will buy it. People don't want to BUY the exact same cars they can RENT from Hertz. Rebadging the Mazda 6 (which has already been out a few years) as the Ford Fusion/Linclone MKZ/Mercury Milano is supposed to save the company? Puh-leaze...

I want to commend Chrysler for truly building what the public wants and taking some chances. The new Caliber is very risky, but I like it. The 300c, Charger and Magnum are awesome. SRT is putting out some great performance products that regular people can afford. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ALL AROUND!!
One other thing... I do think that Detroit is a bit clueless being located in the midwest. People in that part of the country are very pro-American cars (I've heard stories of construction sites in Michigan not letting workers park in the lots with foreign cars/trucks). I don't think these attitudes are reflective of the majority of America, especially the coasts that tend to be more progressive. I'm not saying they need to move out of Detroit, but the execs need to get out more and see what's happening in the rest of America (and quit letting accountants run the company)
I think GM and Ford need to get rid of some of these brands and focus on making fewer products better:

1) Ford should drop Mercury. Why do they still exist anyway?? Ford needs Ford and Lincoln only (think Toyota and Lexus). Also, why can't ford offer an SVT version of the Five Hundred. Supercharged or V8 with AWD and more aggressive styling (anyone remember the SHO). Don't make it a track car, but add SOME excitement...

2) GM should keep Saturn (think Scion), Chevy, Cadillac and Hummer. Why do we need Pontiac, GMC and Buick (did I miss any others)?

3) Chrysler seems OK. I would make Chrysler = Lexus (but be sure to be less costly than Benz) and Dodge = Toyota... I would keep Jeep around since they have their niche (like Hummer).
Why does GM need all these brands anyway? Why not model itself after the imports.

Saturn = Scion (but can we lose the plastic body panel already and just use the great styling of the Opels)
Chevy = Toyota
Cadillac = Lexus

Buick - Buh bye (brand recognition gone too far. Why make all the cars look like the same ugly car?)
GMC - Buh bye (not sure why they exist anyway)
Pontiac - Buh bye (Bonneville... 'nuf said)

Does it really make sense to make the same car/truck for three or four different brands? Not to me...

"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
