Damn.. I was all ready to ditch my iphone Friday for this until now... I guess I'll have to wait to see if they do block it for the 30 dollar plan...
I just got the 3GS a couple months ago & I'm probably going to do it. I like the iPhone, but blocking Google Voice is my primary reason for switching... The 500 dollars I can get on E-bay will offset the ETF & cost of the droid..
I'm seriously considering dumping my 3gs for this. Is the termination fee still 175?

Used 3gs go for about 500 on ebay, so it'd basically be a wash it I switched.

I like the iPhone, but Google Voice is a big deal to me.
Isn't that the same day as Dante's Inferno is being released?

My birthday's the 10th.. happy birthday to me!
I voted for 300. Maybe it's worth more, but not to me. I just went back to Comcast's DVR after being with strictly Media Center for a long time. I love Media Center, I just wanted more HD channels. Naturally, a couple weeks after I switch they announce this.

Still, I'm looking forward to it... but comcast's dvr isn't as terrible as I remembered it being. I'd still be love to go back to the Media Center with this tuner, but it's a convenience.. nothing I need. If the price is right & makes sense, I'll get it.
That ship has sailed. I turned my media center pc into a home server & am selling my tuners. I love Media Center, but with the limited options with DCT/On-Demand i'm going to keep my DVR separate for now.. Even if ATI cut a deal with Cablelabs & released add-on DCT, then the waiting game becomes "when will it be tru2way"...

Media Center is fantastic, it just doesn't meet my needs right now...for now I will install a virtualized copy on my home server to manage music & videos.
That'd be great if they came out with a cablecard tuner (non-oem), but it would figure... I just finally gave up on Media Center last week & signed a year long contract with comcast. :(
I've always thought the price for VOD services at 4 dollars/6 dollars HD was beyond ridiculous, and I NEVER rent anything through Comcast/Xbox Live/PSN.

IMO, that's one thing holding up digital distribution.. cost. Take Microsoft's new "games on demand service" for instance. great, convenient, but priced the same as the complete disc version. Why? I don't understand why they don't make them 5-10 bucks cheaper, which would draw more people in & then they stop losing so much money on used game sales.

I see no incentive to buying a retail game "on demand". I can't sell it when I'm done, and it's only going to take up HD space.

Netflix is priced well, that's all there is to it. Redbox may require you to leave the house, but when I can rent 6 blu-rays for the price of 1 compressed HD download, I'm taking a ride.
Well said. Ben Gilbert always seem to take political shot @ every opportunity, as if people actually care what his politics are.

I come here for video game news, not politics.
I just ordered this package yesterday. I added on the "refer a friend" program which gives us an additional 10 dollars off each bill for the next 10 months (100 bucks to you & a friend).
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
