you can download anyone's source code/assets from the internet if it is publicly available, and then you just have to open the project and compile it on your machine to run it in windows. to run it on the xbox 360 you have to subscribe to the XNA Creator's Club for $100 a year. this is an amazing price for allowing development on the 360, as normal dev kits are in upwards of thousands of dollars.
XNA is actually just an internal joke. its a recursive acronym standing for XNA is Not an Acronym in the same manner as GNU, etc.
actually a lot of xbla games are made in XNA. The torque engine was created with it and is available from GarageGames, so you can figure any GarageGames game is derived from XNA (Marble Blast Ultra is probably the most popular, and is real fun. check it out for $5 on the Marketplace). with this networking component built in, xna is going to definitely take off much more than before. also, remember this stuff is all totally free for windows and xbox 360 development, it just costs $100 for a year of the game creator membership to allow the porting and running of the game on the xbox 360. also, microsoft is going to add a section into the dash for user created content soon for subsribers. think of it as the youtube of game development. great stuff, ms is heading in the right direction with this.
lol ebay influx. nah but this is a really nice deal, probably the only better one is the $129.99 hd dvd drive for 360. 5 free movies + king kong + remote + it works on any pc without drivers. i kinda wanna get my parents one for xmas. go away already bluray.
yea marble blast is great and it has online multiplayer which is pretty fun.
ditto, game blows. yet i guarantee it sells millions in japan. fools.
aw man that sucks, hopefully it'll be released soon. usa already has around 400 movies and tons of tv shows.
the prices are universal, which is the point of the MS points. all prices are the same in all regions, but the cost per point is relative to your currency. works out nicely for things like this so we can all discuss in a "currency" we know. good work ms, bring out the xbl marketplace everywhere.
there is a t-rex, i read it a few months ago, confirmed by teamxbox. check out the article, it is a dev interview with a lot of cool stuff about the multiplayer and how the maps are all non-static.
LOL ya sonys commercials have been so horrible for both psp and ps3. however they werent so bad on the ps2. their main problem is they are so off topic and dont show any in game video, only pre-rendered nonsense unrelated to the gameplay, which is what entices gamers. the 1 decent commercial set was the latest ps3 one that would show some in game for heavenly sword and drake's fortune. they still showed mostly all pre-rendered nonsense though, losing all credibility once they started putting lame-o videos in with it. the commercials would be much more effective just saying ps3 at $399. gamers know the games. non gamers wanna see the graphics.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
