The unit pictured here is the old HR10-250 DirecTV is phasing out. Hopefully the new one will be more attractive. At least it didn't have a 1000 candlepower blue LED on the face.
I resisted TiVo when they first came out mostly because of having to pay a subscription fee just to use it, especially after forking a sizable chunk to buy it in the first place. I eventually got one w/ DirecTV because the fee was basically also considered an HD access fee as well.
After falling in love w/ it I was pretty bummed about having to give it up for the HR2x turds they forced on us. While they have improved the firmware some they still have fundamental issues w/ design and build quality. Both of mine require constant, sometimes daily, rebooting.
