Haven't read everyone's comments, so someone may have covered this. But I think one thing in the review that got glossed over was what the navigation enables. To me it's not just about a different way of getting around. The quick-launch is significant, in that it brings to forefront the item you're most likely to hit next. Not always, but more than likely you're either gonna go for something that you've pinned, something that you've recently hit, or something that you've just added....that's very clever, IMO.

Also, it kinda brings the iTunes LP experience with related artists, bios, pictures, and marketplace drill-downs seamlessly right from your music area of navigation. It expands your periphial vision into the artist, right from your device, so discovering other stuff is just as easy from your PMP as it is from your desktop software.

Likewise, the seamless tie in from your collection into your ZunePass sorta combines what the genius bar and Pandora do, all into one experience, which is awesome.

These are all elements that significantly differentiates the Zune, and weren't highlighted in the review. After just a few hours toying with the Zune, I felt like going back to playing music on my iPhone 3GS was going back 10 years.

I agree that the browser falls way short, and the app load times are way too long for a platform this powerful. But as a PMP, it's pretty sweet.
that's why I favor the Zune Pass.....discussion of the device aside, I think it's a great value. I have my Zune, and each of my 2 boys' Zunes on the same subscription. $15/month, all you can eat for 3 people, plus I get to keep 10 tracks a month, which is just about what I would buy anyhow. For me it works great.
Also curious about other Activesync functionality....subfolder syncing, ability to search the server, ability to flag, etc....anyone heard anything on those?
I've been waiting for these....lousy timing for me, personally. I have an upcoming wedding and vacation at the end of this month....I was hoping against the odds that these would get an early release.....oh well.
Does anyone know if this version of blackberry has threaded SMS? I've kinda gotten hooked on it on WinMo 6.1....
Nice to see HTC releasing upgrades for Motorola phones...
I ordered mine a week ago....still says "In Production" and is scheduled to ship 9/22....WXP....
I don't understand this marketing to "tweens"....to me that thing looks like a little tykes play thing a 3 year old would be happy with....I have two 9-year olds and a 12-year old....there is no way in the world they would want this over say, an ENV2...also, let me add that the stereotype of kids with electronics, specifically cell/smartphones, being spoiled brats is ignorant. Are there spoiled kids with iPhones, you bet. But there were spoiled kids before cell phones ever existed, and there exists a bunch of kids with nothing, that are more bitter, nasty, and ungrateful than those that have. At the levels of accessibility now a days, these devices are commodities more than elite status symbols... IMO, raise your kids right and reward them with what you can and what you feel they deserve.

I miss Micron laptops....back in the day
One thing I don't hear a lot of folks touch on is the SDK that was released. I think that's significant. Depending on the level of adaptation this thing gets, there could be a lot of interesting plays on this.

I wish I was a developer, but I'm not. I know I'll get killed for this, but personally I'd love a Zune Server on this.

Also, the DroboShare seems to share 2 Drobo units. If I understand it right, it's more than just a simple NIC, but also an expansion back-plane.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
