I think picking up on the line “The new firm is expected to provide drives for both formats for the time being” does mean that one will eventually be chosen. There is no other context. Profits is besides the point.
Wish it were that easy. Unfortunately, the US is addicted to oil...foreign oil. And contrary to popular opinion, the vast majority of our oil imports does NOT come from the middle east. Most comes from Canada, Mexico, and yes, Venezuela. They DO have something we need.
On paper the unit has the right details.

But after three units, horrible tech support from HP and Compusa, and being asked a a couple of dozen times "Are you sure you are hooking up the cables right?", I just returned my unit for a refund.
