Just because you are a digital cable subscriber does not mean that you would not be affected by this change. I'm a digital cable subscriber, but only have one active digital cable box. My other three televisions and/or TiVo's are using analog only without a box.
Galleon has done this for a while (http://www.galleon.tv/). I use it to effectively extend the recording capacity of my Tivo for shows I don't watch regularly by automatically transferring some shows to my home server and then having them available to stream back on demand.

When they said they would not be 2-way interactive, it is just Time Warner's way of telling you what functionality you will lose with a CableCARD vs a set top box. Nothing about that is specific to the Tivo. It is the same for every CableCARD device.

Two-way CableCARDs are coming, but are not currently avaialable. Time Warner can not support 2-way interactive features in any CableCARD device.
The cable company must support CableCARDs in any device that is certified by Cable Labs. The Series 3 is such a device.
KTBC in Austin is a Fox owned and operated station. It's HD signal is carred on Time Warner Cable as mentioned above.
You don't have to live in Canada to use this capability. I live in the Austin, TX area and have an 8300 HD from Time Warner Cable in Austin and have an external 500 GB drive connected.
Time Warner Austin was supposed to drop it just like they did after the last Olympics, but they have unofficially announced in a local Yahoo group where cable and Roadrunner issues are discussed that it will stay.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
