agreed, they did a really nice job with the One. I'm not really in love with the touchscreen, but otherwise it's their best remote.
this blows my mind precisely because there ARE other choices. TiVo was the best for a long time, but nowadays even my tivo HD is really looking long in the tooth. Not to mention it takes a good 45 seconds to a minute and a half to create a season pass. Every time I go to my dad's house and see his directv DVR I'm jealous.
@WindowsFTW - *sigh* - You must be a huge hit at parties. I had a sizable rebuttal typed out but... it's not worth it. I'm glad you like your phone.

But I think maybe you could use a year or two of therapy.
@WindowsFTW:

Re: copying a webpage - To be honest, that sounds quite cumbersome. I'd prefer my phone experience to be more like my desktop experience, isn't that the point? I don't think i've ever saved a webpage and emailed the file to someone to show them an article with pictures before. Are you saying that that is just as good as copying and pasting a section of a webpage? because I hardly think the average person would agree. What if it's a really long page, where the URL or the entire page isn't as succinct as just the image and the chunk of text that is relevant?

Whatever, like I said - I genuinely don't know if other phones can do it. Not trying to prove a rhetorical point. It sounds to me like windows mobile is a no.

and Re: the web - Well, I have a youtube app, and as far as hulu, that's awesome that you can use it any time you like from your phone. I hope for a hulu iphone app one of these days. but the browser? Winmo browsers are shit, man. There is no comparison. I would like to hear anyone (other than you) tell me with a straight face that using a winmo browser is a better experience than safari on iphone.
Out of curiosity, can other smartphone OSes copy sections of a webpage all formatted etc? Not trying to be snarky, I genuinely don't know.

My reason for asking is that the thing about the iPhone is that none of the core features are particularly impressive, until you look at the implementation. Every other phone does video, but on the iphone you can trim the videos you take. Every other phone has voicemail, but apple lets you see them visually (at least i think apple did this first). There are plenty of other web browsers on phones, but the iPhone's is far more like the real web than on any other phone. You've been able to get apps on phones for a millennia - but it's never been as simple and painless as with the app store. Regardless of whether these features were out two years ago or two weeks ago, they're available now and they're really, really nice.

People trash it for not having as many features as other phones, and that's valid especially if it's missing a feature you really like or need - but I've never owned a phone that was so intuitive and enjoyable to use. That includes the copy and paste functionality. Just really simple and intuitive.
I totally agree. I waited on getting a tivo for six months when i heard that deal was coming - at a certain point I just gave up hope. It's been two years since. I can't stand the software on the comcast DVRs - it's easily the buggiest, slowest and most awful user experience I've seen in years.
Looks like standard issue stormtrooper gear. In other words, GIMME.
This thing is ridiculous. It's a regular monitor with a huge sheet of plexiglass over it.
gotta throw my vote in for Things. It's just a lot cleaner and easier for me to wrap my head around - I've been using things for a couple weeks, and honestly it's the only GTD app I'd recommend. I love how free-form it is, while keeping the basic function simple and intuitive. Omnifocus feels big and unwieldy, and Omni has a frustrating tendency to not let you change enough about the interface, as well as their copious use of inspector windows, which I HATE - see omnigraffle as an extreme case.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
