The FZ-G1 is a 10-inch version that runs <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/30/windows-8-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Windows 8 Pro</a>, while the seven-inch JT-B1 runs Ice Cream Sandwich. Both are following in the footsteps of the Honeycomb-running <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/07/panasonic-toughpad-a1-and-b1-the-tablets-you-can-drop-and-pick/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">A1 and B1</a> that arrived back in 2011. Connectivity-wise, there's USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi and optional Verizon LTE or 3G. The JT-B1, on the other hand, has a 1,024 x 600 display and runs a 1.5GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4660, 16GB storage and 1GB RAM, built-in microSD slot, 13-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel forward facing cameras and an eight hour, 5,720mAh battery.</p><p> The larger of the pair will be available in March and will set you back $2,900, while the smaller one will arrive in February and will cost $1,300. Launched in conjunction with a big charity concert (again) earlier today is the SCH-W2013, a 1.4GHz quad-core (likely an <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/Exynos4412?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Exynos 4412</a>) device with Android 4.0 and dual-3.7-inch 800 x 480 Super AMOLED touchscreens. On top of that there's 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, microSD expansion of up to 64GB, 1,850mAh of battery juice, an eight-megapixel main imager plus a whopping 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera. As with many flagship devices on China Telecom, the W2013 comes with dual-SIM support: one for CDMA2000 800/1900 and the other for GSM 900/1800/1900. The damage? Well, there's nothing official yet, but it's believed to be somewhere between &yen;18,000 ($2,900) and &yen;20,000 ($3,210). After all, it ain't cheap to hire Jackie Chan (<em>and</em> he was also given a W2013 at the concert).</p><p> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsungs-sch-w2013-is-a-quad-core-dual-screen-flip-phone-designed-for-jackie-chan/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Samsung's SCH-W2013 is a quad-core, dual-screen flip phone, designed for Jackie Chan</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsungs-sch-w2013-is-a-quad-core-dual-screen-flip-phone-designed-for-jackie-chan/5454091?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/11/samsung-sch-w2013-g-2012-11-24_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsungs-sch-w2013-is-a-quad-core-dual-screen-flip-phone-designed-for-jackie-chan/5454090?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/11/samsung-sch-w2013-g-2012-11-24-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsungs-sch-w2013-is-a-quad-core-dual-screen-flip-phone-designed-for-jackie-chan/5454080?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/11/samsung-sch-w2013-g-2012-11-24-7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsungs-sch-w2013-is-a-quad-core-dual-screen-flip-phone-designed-for-jackie-chan/5454081?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/11/samsung-sch-w2013-g-2012-11-24-8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsungs-sch-w2013-is-a-quad-core-dual-screen-flip-phone-designed-for-jackie-chan/5454082?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/11/samsung-sch-w2013-g-2012-11-24-9_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p>

The company's Sina Weibo account has quietly announced the Ulike 2, a white 4.5-inch phone designed with ladies in mind: not only does it have a common eight-megapixel main camera on the back, but there's also a staggering <em>five-megapixel</em> front-facing imager with beautification features (like face slimming, skin whitening, skin smoothing and more) to keep the self-portrait addicts busy. Other specs include a gapless 960 x 540 LCD (with 2.2mm-thick bezel), 1GB RAM, 16GB built-in storage, micro-SIM slot, a 2,020mAh battery, and TD-SCDMA radio for China Mobile's network. There's no telling how much this Android 4.0 phone will hurt your wallet, nor is there any official information on the underlying processor, but we shall find out when it hits the Chinese market on December 19th, if not at the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/11/20/oppo-find-5-beijing/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Find 5's launch event</a> on the 12th.</p>

Anyone who might've ordered the bargain bin slate must now wait for the company to move through a mess of red tape, as Matrix One has revealed that all of its shipments have been delayed at customs. While the company hasn't given any specific reason for the holdup, it's since suspended the ordering process as it waits for the current shipments to clear. For its part, Matrix One states that it's diligently working toward a resolution and promises to provide further updates as they become available. If you're concerned about your order, feel free to hit up the company directly. You'll find everything you need in Matrix One's full statement after the break.</p><p> [Thanks, Michael]</p>

Sure, the company has been plugging away at the space since the day the Nook Color made its transformation into a full-fledged tablet, but the Nook, it seems, is rarely mentioned in the same breath as the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/11/amazon-kindle-fire-hd-review-7-inch/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Kindle Fire</a> or <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/28/nexus-7-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Nexus 7</a>, when discussing low-cost tablets. As such, the company seems to rarely mention its devices without discussing the competition -- Amazon in particular. In fact, at the launch event for the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/26/barnes-and-nobles-nook-hd-7-inch-android-tablet-hands-on-video/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Nook HD</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/26/barnes-and-noble-announces-nook-hd-9-inch-tablet-we-go-hands-on/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">HD+</a>, reps trotted out Kindle Fire HDs at every possible opportunity.</p><p> Seeing the two devices side by side, there's no question that Nook trumps the Fire in a number of categories, and the bookseller has gone a ways toward making the Nook HD stand out in a field full of bigger players. For one thing, the device is far more focused on the reading experience than the competition, a fact reflected in both hardware and UI decisions. The company has also taken a more aggressive approach toward marketing the device toward families. The question, then, is whether these features are enough to capture marketshare from the more prominent devices. See how the Nook HD stacks up after the break. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nook-hd-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Nook HD review</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nook-hd-review/5395385?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/tmo0001dsc04659gallery_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nook-hd-review/5395386?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/tmo0002dsc04660gallery_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nook-hd-review/5395387?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/tmo0003dsc04661gallery_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nook-hd-review/5395388?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/tmo0004dsc04664gallery_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nook-hd-review/5395478?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/tmo0004dsc04738gallery_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p>

Unveiled in China earlier today, this ZTE U950 smartphone packs a 1.3GHz Tegra 3 chip, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and a 2,000mAh battery beneath the 4.3-inch display. There's also a five-megapixel camera plus a VGA front-facing camera inside the 9mm-thick body. Pretty standard stuff for an Android 4.0 phone, except for the price-per-performance ratio, of course. The first 100,000 customers who register now will be eligible to order on November 11th, though chances are the quota's all gone by now.</p>

But how does it stack up against its competition? We've included full details of the devices in a chart after the break; initial appearances suggest that pure performance hounds may like the Nexus 10 the most, although it doesn't have the most diverse options for cellular data or storage. We'll know the real tale of the tape once the Nexus 10 reaches our hands.</p>

The Honor 2 packs the company's in-house <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/20/huawei-ascend-d1-quad-xl-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">K3V2 1.4GHz quad-core chip</a>, up from the single-core found in the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/21/huawei-honor-review/ ?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">original</a>, alongside 2GB of RAM and 8GB of built-in storage. Around the back, there's the BSI 8-megapixel camera sensor, capable of burst shots and full 1080p video capture, while Huawei has also included a microSD slot for storage expansion. With a 4.5-inch 1,280 x 720 display, there's hefty pixel bump up from the 245 pixels per inch found on the first Honor -- in fact we have a Retina display-matching 326ppi. The Chinese phone maker is also talking up its claims of 72 hours of standby time, which is something we'd certainly like to try out when review samples eventually appear. Pre-orders will start in China later this week, with the Honor 2 priced up at 1,888 yuan -- just over $300.</p>

<p style="text-align: center; "> <em><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/26/pantech-flex-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img alt="Pantech Flex review" data-src-height="412" data-src-width="620" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/flex-dsc03688-article-1351022134.jpg" /></a></em></p><p> Pantech is known for producing budget Android smartphones that punch above their weight, and the Flex is no exception. Available now on AT&amp;T for $50 with a two-year contract, it delivers a dual-core Snapdragon S4 -- the same chip that lurks within mightier phones such as the Galaxy S III and One X -- along with a qHD display and LTE connectivity. The phone certainly hits a number of the check boxes for value seekers, but there's something that makes the Flex very different from other smartphones on the market: it has a dual personality.</p><p> Folks, prepare for memories of At Ease, Microsoft Bob and Packard Bell Navigator to come rushing back. The Pantech Flex features a unique launcher known as Easy Experience, which caters to those who might find Ice Cream Sandwich overwhelming. Fortunately, there's also a standard launcher for experts. In that regard, the Flex is deserving of its name. Unlike most handsets on the market, it's targeting both broke college students and technophobes just the same. Of course, we're here to answer a greater question: is the Pantech Flex worthy of being your next smartphone? Join us after the break for the answer.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/pantech-flex-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Pantech Flex review</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/pantech-flex-review/5382384?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/flexdsc03638gallery_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/pantech-flex-review/5382385?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/flexdsc03640gallery_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/pantech-flex-review/5382386?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/flexdsc03642gallery_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/pantech-flex-review/5382387?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/flexdsc03646gallery_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/pantech-flex-review/5382388?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/flexdsc03648gallery_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p>

Other <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/siri/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Siri</a>-esque features include weather updates and dictated SMS and email responses. The beta app can be downloaded below, although compatibility is limited to Android Ice Cream Sandwich and above for now. Nuance is promising more features and increased availability later this year.</p>

However, a recent website posting by Best Buy has brought this mobile Sasquatch out of hiding and back into the mainstream media. While this listing is mostly a refresh confirming our source's shared specs, it notes the Spectrum 2's unsubsidized price as $650. Now, before you would-be buyers start directing your browser to the retailer's webpage in hopes of making a quick purchase, it should be noted that the device is listed as "sold out online." Still, we can't help but notice the pictured device's homescreen carries a date of November 3rd, which could be a nod to when the Spectrum 2 might officially show up on store shelves.</p>

Its plan: to establish a new classification system by dividing the bulk of its handsets into four core groups starting with the high-end D-series at the top and working its way down to the bargain bin Y-series. <strike>Hogging</strike> Accepting the bulk of the spotlight, however, was the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/26/huawei-ascend-d-quad-hands-on/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Ascend D Quad XL</a>, a "superphone" containing a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/26/huawei-outs-ascend-d-quad/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">homegrown</a> quad-core CPU. For a manufacturer that hadn't even put a dual-core phone on the market (the Ascend P1 wasn't on sale yet), a launch in the second quarter of this year felt incredibly aggressive. This was Huawei's first real chance to make a legitimate name for itself outside of Asia; pushing out an impressive device in a timely fashion was imperative.<br /> <br /> Fast-forward eight months, and we've witnessed the 2012 equivalent of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/08/motorola-droid-bionic-finally-available-on-verizon-angelic-chor/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Motorola Droid Bionic</a>: the unfortunate device has been the subject of uncertainty and countless delays. Fear not, it's finally been released. However, it faces an incredibly competitive market coming into the holiday season, with quad-core heavyweights like the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/08/samsung-galaxy-note-ii-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Samsung Galaxy Note II</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/19/lg-optimus-g-review-a-quad-core-powerhouse-with-nexus-aspiratio/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">LG Optimus G</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/04/htc-one-x-for-atandt-hands-on-tegra-3-lte-and-jelly-bean-togeth/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">HTC One X+</a> ready to duke it out. We had this question when it was originally announced, and it's become even more relevant now: can the Huawei D Quad XL (and its freshly made SoC) hold up respectably amongst its new peers? At the time, Google had yet to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/22/google-officially-closes-deal-for-motorola-mobility/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">officially take over</a> the handset manufacturer, it had a deep stable of less-than-impressive devices and, while it was a moderate success, the Droid RAZR didn't exactly turn the market on its head. Still, in retrospect, it only makes sense that the RAZR would once again become the standard bearer for Moto. Even if we weren't blown away by last year's model, it was a big step in the right direction for the company, a device that featured a great mix of premium styling and performance. The new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/05/motorola-droid-razr-hd-unveiled-4-5-inch-720p-display-ics-dua/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">RAZR HD</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/05/motorola-announces-droid-razr-maxx-hd/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">MAXX HD</a> take that basic formula and attempt to address our concerns about the display and battery life, the latter of which was already handled in dramatic fashion by the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/31/motorola-droid-razr-maxx-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">RAZR MAXX</a>. So, how do the latest caps-happy, vowel-averse handsets from Motorola stack up against last year's incarnations and the current crop of competitors? Keep on reading after the break to find out.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/droid-razr-hd-and-razr-maxx-hd-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Droid RAZR HD and RAZR MAXX HD review</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/droid-razr-hd-and-razr-maxx-hd-review/5373317?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/tmo0001dsc04529gallery_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/droid-razr-hd-and-razr-maxx-hd-review/5373318?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/tmo0002dsc04532gallery_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/droid-razr-hd-and-razr-maxx-hd-review/5373319?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/tmo0003dsc04533gallery_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/droid-razr-hd-and-razr-maxx-hd-review/5373320?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/tmo0004dsc04537gallery_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/droid-razr-hd-and-razr-maxx-hd-review/5373321?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/tmo0005dsc04538gallery_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p>

It wasn't that long ago that we reviewed LG's flagship <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/07/09/lg-optimus-4x-hd-review-runner-up-to-the-quad-core-throne/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Optimus 4X HD</a>, the world's first quad-core HSPA+ handset. Despite representing the company's best engineering and design effort to date, it wasn't quite able to match the competition's global offerings -- Samsung's mighty <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/25/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Galaxy S III </a>and HTC's lovely <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/02/htc-one-x-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">One X</a>. Today, just a few months later, quad-core LTE superphones are the state of the art. Samsung's selling the global <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/08/samsung-galaxy-note-ii-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Galaxy Note II</a>, HTC's just announced the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/04/htc-one-x-for-atandt-hands-on-tegra-3-lte-and-jelly-bean-togeth/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">One X+ </a>and LG's betting everything on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/OptimusG/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Optimus G</a> -- the first handset to feature Qualcomm's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SnapdragonS4Pro/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Snapdragon S4 Pro</a> together with an LTE radio.</p><p> The Optimus G is a pivotal device for the Korean manufacturer, especially in the US, where rival Samsung is massively popular and LG's success has been hampered by a series of forgettable products (hello, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/21/lg-intuition-review-optimus-deja-vu-with-a-verizon-lte-twist/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Intuition</a>) and a lackluster track record for software updates. It's so critical that LG even invited us to spend <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/17/lg-optimus-g-hands-on-with-koreas-latest-powerhouse-video/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">some quality time</a> with the Optimus G at the launch event in Seoul last month. In the US, LG's partnering with Sprint and AT&amp;T and there's strong evidence that Google's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/12/lg-nexus-4-reviewed-by-belarusian-tech-site/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">upcoming Nexus</a> will be based on the Optimus G. So, does the company's latest powerhouse measure up to the competition? How different are the US versions from the Korean model? Does LG finally have a winning formula with the Optimus G? Find out in our review after the break.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a The isolation ends with a newly distinct <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/GoogleCalendar/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Google Calendar</a> that's treated as just another Google Play download. You'll need at least Android 4.0 or 4.1, which leaves relatively few differences between the download and what's already on your device, but that's not the point -- the change really lets Google move users on to the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/28/android-4-1-jelly-bean-review-a-look-at-whats-changed-in-googl/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Jelly Bean</a> app and beyond, even if their device makers <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/17/samsung-jelly-bean/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">aren't ready</a>. Owners currently running Jelly Bean will still get a few extras, such as better support for non-Nexus hardware and a wider time range for calendar syncing. Hit the source link if you're game for that kind of futureproofing.</p>

Japan's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/KDDI/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">KDDI</a> is covering that gap by pledging to carry Sony's mid-size Android 4.0 phone as the Xperia VL. Everything we know and (mostly) love about the dust- and water-resistant phone is intact, including that thin <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/11/sony-xperia-v-sensor-on-lens-touchscreen/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">sensor-on-lens</a> 720p display, the 13-megapixel camera, the 1.5GHz <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SnapdragonS4/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Snapdragon S4</a>, NFC and LTE-based 4G. The one question remaining is a definitive release date: Sony will only promise an Xperia VL launch before the end of the year, although there's talk at <em>Impress Watch</em> of a release on November 2nd for &yen;30,000 ($381) after carrier discounts. Let's hope for the company's sake that other carriers sign up for the V and VL sooner rather than later.</p>

Though its Kickstarter efforts were a bust, its creators have managed to get this project off of the ground and are now accepting discounted pre-orders at $150 until November 4th -- after that, the price will climb to a full $170. All pre-orders are expected to ship during the second week of November. As a refresher, the MG features a 4-inch WVGA display, a 1GHz Cortex A5 processor, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and an 8GB microSD card. It'll also accommodate up to 64GB cards, should you ever hit a wall. Sporting a design that's reminiscent of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2005/07/27/tapwave-kills-the-zodiac/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Tapwave Zodiac</a>, the MG will ship pre-loaded with several "freemium" titles and will have access to Google Play's massive library of games. So, if you're looking to wean your younger sibling off of your high-end smartphone, the MG could be the stocking stuffer that gets the job done this holiday season.</p>

A <em>Reuters</em> tipster claims to have filled in that blank: the 9.7-inch, Ice Cream Sandwich-based slate will reportedly cost between $239 to $259 when it ships November 11th. That's not bad for a tablet at the size of the Flex, but you'll be giving up a lot to get that screen size if the price tag is real. A similar outlay could net a (likely faster) 32GB <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/11/amazon-kindle-fire-hd-review-7-inch/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Kindle Fire HD</a>, for starters -- and while we don't know any details of what's coming from <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/16/apple-ipad-mini-launch-announced-official/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Apple's "little" event</a> next week, we have a hunch that it just might overshadow Best Buy's hopes of being the value leader in the tablet field. Without an official confirmation or denial, we'd suggest fence-sitting for a little while longer if you're not already in love with the big-box retailer's in-house brand.</p>

But despite the initial fanfare, the company chose to slip this slate into the marketplace quietly, ahead even of its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/30/lenovo-ideatab-s2110-makes-official-debut-at-ifa-2012/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">official launch at IFA</a>. In that time, ASUS managed to announce and ship a new hybrid tablet of its own, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/22/asus-transformer-pad-tf300-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Transformer Pad TF300</a> -- a keyboard-optional rival offering the same 10-inch, 1,280 x 800 IPS display and Android 4.0 experience, along with a quad-core Tegra 3.</p><p> While Lenovo's offering may not come with four cores or an unskinned version of Ice Cream Sandwich, there is a very contemporary dual-core S4 inside, clocked at 1.5GHz and buffered by 1GB of RAM. Alongside that, the tab's also outfitted with a 1.3-megapixel front-facing shooter and 5-megapixel rear camera capable of 1080p video capture. Other specs include radios for WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0, a battery rated for up to 10 hours of browsing (augmented to 20 hours when connected to the dock) and either 16GB or 32GB of built-in storage. At $430 for the base model alone, it's already positioned as a higher-priced alternative to the TF300. Add the dock and full storage, and you're looking at a cool $580. So, will this be a case of "too little, too late" for Lenovo? Can the S2110 lure undecided customers away from cheaper similarly specced offerings? Read on as we attempt to answer all that and more.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lenovo-ideatab-s2110-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Lenovo IdeaTab S2110 review</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lenovo-ideatab-s2110-review/5357615?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/dsc04361_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lenovo-ideatab-s2110-review/5357616?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/dsc04363-1350055925_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lenovo-ideatab-s2110-review/5357617?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/dsc04359_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lenovo-ideatab-s2110-review/5357618?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/dsc04360-1350055926_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lenovo-ideatab-s2110-review/5357619?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/dsc04357-1350055926_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p>

<p class="image-container" style="text-align: center; "> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/16/asus-padfone-2-hands-on/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img alt="ASUS PadFone 2 handson" data-src-height="413" data-src-width="620" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/asus-padfone-2-hands-on.jpg" /></a></p><p> Well look at this! Our lucky buddies over at Engadget Chinese managed to get an early hands-on with the brand-spanking new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/padfone2?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">PadFone 2</a> from ASUS. As we <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/16/asus-padfone-2-lte-taiwan/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">mentioned</a> earlier, the bulkiness of the original model is totally gone and we're still blown away by the combo's new weight. But first, the phone: in our hands, it really just feels like an enlarged version of the original PadFone, especially with the ripple pattern on the back, as well as the plastic chin at the bottom along with the slightly tapered aluminum bezel. We do love the new and larger Super IPS+ screen, which is much sharper than the old PenTile Super AMOLED display, and it no doubt has better outdoor performance as well. Additionally, the Android soft keys are no longer virtual -- you can access them below the screen at any time, and we dig that.</p><p> While docking the phone into or pulling it out of the PadFone Station is hardly a challenge, there's some sort of magic that keeps the phone tucked into the bay no matter how hard our pals shook the tablet upside down (please don't try this at home) -- the geared rubber grip along the two sides of the bay are somehow responsible for this. The back of the PadFone Station has a rubbery texture that's essentially identical to its predecessor's, making it just as comfortable to hold, but only time will tell how durable the coating is. Software-wise it's just as snappy on the tablet as it is on the phone, and we noticed the switch between phone mode and tablet mode is now a tad quicker as well. It'll probably be easier to see once we have our English hands-on video, so stay tuned.</p><p> <strong>Update: </strong>We've finally managed to upload our hands-on video -- it's right after the break. Watch how we kept shaking the PadFone Station upside down and the phone still stayed inside its bay (again, don't do this at home, kids!). Also, we have a demo of the phone's Instant Dictionary feature. It's very handy.</p><p> <strong>Update 2: </strong>We've just been informed that the magical grip mechanism in the docking bay took over two years to develop. Nice one, ASUS!</p><p> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-padfone-2-hands-on/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">ASUS PadFone 2 hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-padfone-2-hands-on/5361851?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/asus-padfone-2-2012-10-15-0_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-padfone-2-hands-on/5361860?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/asus-padfone-2-2012-10-15-8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-padfone-2-hands-on/5361869?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/asus-padfone-2-2012-10-15-14_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-padfone-2-hands-on/5361852?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/asus-padfone-2-2012-10-15-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-padfone-2-hands-on/5361853?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/asus-padfone-2-2012-10-15-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p>

<p class="image-container" style="text-align: center; "> <img alt="ASUS PadFone 2 vs PadFone 1 hang out!" data-src-height="411" data-src-width="620" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/asus-padfone-2-vs-padfone-1.jpg" /></p><p> While <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/16/asus-padfone-2-hands-on/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">getting their hands dirty</a> with the ASUS <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/padfone2?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">PadFone 2</a>, our guys over at Engadget Chinese also had the chance to compare it with the OG PadFone, and they came back with a generous batch of side-by-side shots. Here you can see how the phone itself is almost just a scaled-up copy of its predecessor, while the new PadFone Station slate loses some body fat by shedding the original docking bay cover, and we're certain that the battery has become denser and lighter as well to achieve this amazing diet -- we're talking about losing just over 200g here! Also apparent is the new 13-pin dock connector (MHL plus concurrent data, display and power) at the bottom of both the phone and the tablet. For the rest, we shall let your eyes do the work in the gallery below. Enjoy!</p><p> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-padfone-2-vs-padfone/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">ASUS PadFone 2 vs PadFone</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-padfone-2-vs-padfone/5361916?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/asus-padfone-2-vs-2012-10-15_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-padfone-2-vs-padfone/5361906?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/asus-padfone-2-vs-2012-10-15-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-padfone-2-vs-padfone/5361915?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/asus-padfone-2-vs-2012-10-15-20_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-padfone-2-vs-padfone/5361901?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/asus-padfone-2-vs-2012-10-15-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-padfone-2-vs-padfone/5361897?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/10/asus-padfone-2-vs-2012-10-15-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p>
