JVC has pushed out a release today clarifying some of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/04/jvc-launches-four-new-full-hd-projectors-at-cedia/">claims it made</a> back at CEDIA 2008, and by and large, it's things that prospective buyers will want to hear. The company introduced an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/eyes-on-with-jvcs-dla-hd750-1080p-projector/">HD foursome of projectors</a> in Denver earlier this month, but apparently, some of the specifications it included weren't, shall we say, final. Looking specifically at contrast ratio, we see the DLA-HD750 and DLA-HD20 jumping from 30,000:1 to 50,000:1, the DLA-RS10 going from 17,000:1 to 32,000:1 and the DLA-HD350 doubling up from 15,000:1 to 30,000:1. Also of note, JVC is now highlighting the 16-step fixed aperture in the DLA-HD750 and DLA-RS20 that "helps eliminate extraneous light that can reduce contrast levels and allows adjustment of brightness to suit user preferences." As for updated prices, you can expect to pay around $6,000 for the DLA-HD350, while the DLA-HD750, DLA-RS10 and DLA-RS20 come in at $8,000, $6,000 and $8,000 in order of mention.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lcos/" rel="tag">LCoS</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/projector/" rel="tag">Projector</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/25/jvc-unveils-revised-specifications-new-details-on-d-ila-hd-proj/">JVC issues revised specifications, new details on D-ILA HD projectors</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 25 Sep 2008 14:02:00 EST. We fully understand that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Marantz/">Marantz</a> buyers are going to pay a premium for that Marantz logo, but this just screams absurd. Joining the company's $2,000 <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/04/marantzs-new-high-end-blu-ray-player/">BD8002</a> is the "budget-minded" BD7003, a Profile 1.1 Blu-ray player with an equally stupefying $799 price tag. Oh sure, it's got HDMI 1.3a, 1080p upscaling for standard DVDs and support for Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, but we're still unclear on what makes this thing worth nearly eight bills. If you've got it all figured out, however, you can dive right in this November.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/24/marantz-intros-799-profile-1-1-bd7003-blu-ray-player/">Marantz intros $799 Profile 1.1 BD7003 Blu-ray player</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 24 Sep 2008 17:40:00 EST. Back in March, we <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/30/ce-pro-hands-out-suggestions-for-hdmi/">called</a> for HDMI members to put aside their differences and unify around a single <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/HDMICEC/">HDMI-CEC</a> standard. According to Steve Venuti, president of HDMI Licensing, LLC, that movement is about to begin. While speaking to <em>CE Pro</em> at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CEDIA/">CEDIA</a>, the bigwig confessed that the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/18/hdmi-how-far-it-has-come-and-how-far-it-has-to-go">HDMI</a> founders (Hitachi, Panasonic, Philips, Silicon Image, Sony, Thomson and Toshiba) have finally agreed to team up on a "unified CEC plan." If executed, the result would mean that HDMI-CEC-enabled VIERA plasmas could be controlled in unison with HDMI-CEC-enabled Sony receivers, and the whole VIERA Link / BRAVIA Sync / Anynet+ / AQUOS Link garbage could finally be disposed of. Mr. Venuti also claimed that there would "probably be an announcement at CES 2009," so we'll be keeping an ear out in around 100 days.<br /><br />[Image courtesy of <a href="http://www.avreview.co.uk/news/images/HDMI_port_big.jpg">AVReview</a>, thanks Lindsay]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cables/" rel="tag">Cables</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ports/" rel="tag">Ports</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/21/hdmi-founders-to-rally-around-single-cec-standard/">HDMI founders to finally rally around single CEC standard</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 21 Sep 2008 21:08:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/07/cedia-2008-roundup/">CEDIA 2008</a> is behind us, and CES 2009 has already been spotted just around the bend. But before we go getting ahead of ourselves, we're curious to know what your favorite item / technology was from the show floor in Denver. Were you digging that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/04/sony-shows-off-prototype-400-disc-blu-ray-mega-changer/">400-disc Blu-ray Mega Changer</a>? Jazzed about <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/belkins-flywire-hands-on-at-cedia/">wireless HD</a> yet? Floored by any of those HDTVs / speakers? Feel free to drop your vote in below, and if your fav isn't listed, stand tall and represent it in comments below.<br /><br />

Originally unwrapped at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CEDIA/">CEDIA</a> (and just now made official), Panasonic's TH-65VX100U is a 1080p behemoth aimed specifically at the "high-end custom home theater enthusiast." It becomes the first in the outfit's line of Premiere Series models and features a 60,000:1 contrast ratio (with an "industry-leading gradation level of 7,160 steps"), 18-bit digital signal processing, 16 adjustment menus and a Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) panel. This living room centerpiece is currently on track for a January release, though there's no telling how badly it'll hurt your wallet when the time comes.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/panasonic/" rel="tag">Panasonic</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/plasma/" rel="tag">Plasma</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/10/panasonic-offers-up-65-inch-1080p-th-65vx100u-plasma/">Panasonic offers up 65-inch 1080p TH-65VX100U plasma</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 10 Sep 2008 15:13:00 EST. Runco's booth at CEDIA this year wasn't nearly as outlandish as <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/06/speakercraft-cedia-2008-booth-tour-its-a-jungle-in-there/">SpeakerCraft</a>'s, but it definitely had an outdoor vibe to it. Curiously, all of the outfit's newly announced kit wasn't out for viewing, but the flagship 70-inch Crystal Series <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/runco-lets-it-all-hang-out-intros-seven-new-1080p-lcds-plasma/">CX-70DHD</a> (and its external DHD video controller / processor) was hard to miss. Now, if only affording one was as easy as browsing the gallery...<br /><br />

Generally speaking, we've always found NuVo Technologies' products a tad too pricey for what they are, but who are we to think for everyone, right? All of its mainstream gear was in attendance, from the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/15/nuvo-technologies-takes-nv-m3-music-server-to-500gb/">NV-M3</a> music server to the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/04/nuvo-unveils-essentia-e6g-whole-home-audio-system/">Essentia E6G</a> to the all new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/22/nuvo-renovia-delivers-whole-home-audio-over-powerline/">Renovia</a>. Give the whole fam a look in the gallery just below.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nuvo-technologies-cedia-2008-booth-tour/">NuVo Technologies CEDIA 2008 booth tour</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nuvo-technologies-cedia-2008-booth-tour/#1021040"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/nuvo-cedia-20082742_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nuvo-technologies-cedia-2008-booth-tour/#1021054"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/nuvo-cedia-20082743_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nuvo-technologies-cedia-2008-booth-tour/#1021041"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/nuvo-cedia-20082744_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nuvo-technologies-cedia-2008-booth-tour/#1021051"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/nuvo-cedia-20082745_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nuvo-technologies-cedia-2008-booth-tour/#1021052"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/nuvo-cedia-20082746_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/media-streamers/" rel="tag">Media streamers</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/other-hardware/" rel="tag">Other hardware</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/07/nuvo-technologies-cedia-2008-booth-tour/">NuVo Technologies CEDIA 2008 booth tour</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 07 Sep 2008 05:37:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/projectiondesign/">projectiondesign</a>'s overhead sign was practically larger than its array of projectors, but those uniquely designed boxes drew our attention and wouldn't let go. Thus, we snapped a few shots of what we saw, and while everything there was too rich for our blood, no one said we couldn't stare real hard. Well, would you look at that. The little <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ZeeVee/">Massachusetts startup</a> that got all of our hopes up with a localcasting <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ZeeVee/">ZvBox</a> showed up at this year's CEDIA, and while it didn't bring much to the show (after all, it only has one product), there seemed to be a good bit of buzz around the floor. We're still giving ours a thorough run-through, but if you're anxious to see what ZeeVee was doing in Denver, check out the gallery below.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zeevee-cedia-2008-booth-tour/">ZeeVee CEDIA 2008 booth tour</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zeevee-cedia-2008-booth-tour/#1020905"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/zeevee_cedia_20082687_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zeevee-cedia-2008-booth-tour/#1020914"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/zeevee_cedia_20082688_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zeevee-cedia-2008-booth-tour/#1020912"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/zeevee_cedia_20082689_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zeevee-cedia-2008-booth-tour/#1020915"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/zeevee_cedia_20082690_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zeevee-cedia-2008-booth-tour/#1020907"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/zeevee_cedia_20082691_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/media-streamers/" rel="tag">Media streamers</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/other-hardware/" rel="tag">Other hardware</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/set-top-boxes/" rel="tag">Set-top boxes</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/06/zeevee-cedia-2008-booth-tour/">ZeeVee CEDIA 2008 booth tour</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 06 Sep 2008 21:56:00 EST. While Control4 didn't make a lot of fuss about the few new products that it rolled out at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CEDIA/">CEDIA</a>, people knew about 'em, regardless. Easily one of the most packed booths at the Expo, this one showcased the full gamut of wares offered up by the home automation outfit. We snapped images from every angle imaginable, and we even got a few with the new touch panels and remotes. Don't believe us? Just have a look at the gallery, it's all there.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/control4-cedia-2008-booth-tour/">Control4 CEDIA 2008 booth tour</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/control4-cedia-2008-booth-tour/#1020881"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/control4_cedia_20082667_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/control4-cedia-2008-booth-tour/#1020882"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/control4_cedia_20082668_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/control4-cedia-2008-booth-tour/#1020883"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/control4_cedia_20082669_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/control4-cedia-2008-booth-tour/#1020892"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/control4_cedia_20082670_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/control4-cedia-2008-booth-tour/#1020891"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/control4_cedia_20082671_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/other-hardware/" rel="tag">Other hardware</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/06/control4-cedia-2008-booth-tour/">Control4 CEDIA 2008 booth tour</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 06 Sep 2008 20:47:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/HarmanInternational/">Harman International</a> is comprised of a great many companies, so it's no surprise that it took two CEDIA booths to hold 'em all. We took our trusty camera through the both of 'em to check out the latest from the likes of Infinity, JBL, H/K and Mark Levinson, and we spotted JBL's fresh <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/jbl-introduces-ls-series-of-loudspeakers-at-cedia/">LS Series</a>, Infinity's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/infinitys-new-subwoofers-cut-the-cord/">wireless subwoofers</a> / <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/infinity-debuts-new-flagship-prelude-forty-speaker/">Prelude Forty</a> and a $15,000 SACD player from Levinson that made Sony's new $1,500 <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/04/sonys-high-end-scd-xa5400es-sacd-player-eyes-on-at-cedia/">SCD-XA5400ES</a> look dirt cheap. B&amp;W, Rotel and Classe didn't go out of their way to announce anything new this <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CEDIA/">CEDIA</a>, but we couldn't resist the urge to wade on through their combined booth and snap a few shots. Of course, the lovely <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/03/bowers-and-wilkins-cranks-out-ipod-lovin-zeppelin-speaker/">Zeppelin</a> was getting an uncomfortable amount of attention, but even the more obscure hardware was seeing its fair share of onlookers. In case you've never had the privilege of attending a trade show, here's a fact: the lighting is horrid. It's tough enough to take decent photographs as-is, but when the floor underneath of you is rumbling the entire time, crisp images are even harder to come by. So yeah, you'll have to forgive us if any of the pics of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/28/velodyne-gets-ready-to-rumble-at-cedia-with-new-subwoofers/">Velodyne's latest families</a> are a tad out of focus, but believe us when we say every single one was fit for a king. Or a rock star. Or you.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/velodynes-latest-subwoofers-at-cedia-eyes-on/">Velodyne's latest subwoofers at CEDIA: eyes-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/velodynes-latest-subwoofers-at-cedia-eyes-on/#1021087"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/velodyne-cedia-20082880_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/velodynes-latest-subwoofers-at-cedia-eyes-on/#1021104"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/velodyne-cedia-20082881_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/velodynes-latest-subwoofers-at-cedia-eyes-on/#1021107"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/velodyne-cedia-20082882_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/velodynes-latest-subwoofers-at-cedia-eyes-on/#1021105"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/velodyne-cedia-20082883_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/velodynes-latest-subwoofers-at-cedia-eyes-on/#1021108"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/velodyne-cedia-20082884_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/speakers/" rel="tag">Speakers</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/06/velodynes-latest-subwoofers-at-cedia-eyes-on/">Velodyne's latest subwoofers at CEDIA: eyes-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 06 Sep 2008 13:08:00 EST. There's zero doubt that SpeakerCraft paid good money for a hot spot on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CEDIA/">CEDIA</a> floor to showcase its wares, and there's also no denying that it had the zaniest booth at the entire Expo. From a dozen yards out, you could feel the bass pumping, you could sense the ground moving, and you could see the mass of people gathered at the SpeakerCraft installation. Upon heading over, we realized that it had brought along the jungle (and even its inhabitants), and we found all sorts of drivers hung up in trees and underneath canopies. Put simply, it was just too bizarre to not pass along, so here you go.<br /><br />

The Series 10 HDMI cable is making its grand entrance at CEDIA this year, and thanks to some fancy Advanced Critical Twist Geometry and a proprietary conductor alloy, it can pipe 1080p content up to 35-meters (115-feet) from the source "virtually error-free." Pricing and availability weren't mentioned, but considering how much you'll save by not having to buy an extender, we'd expect these strands to be mighty pricey. Full release after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/audioquests-series-10-hdmi-cable-takes-1080p-115-feet-with-no-e/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>AudioQuest's Series 10 HDMI cable takes 1080p 115-feet with no extender</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cables/" rel="tag">Cables</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ports/" rel="tag">Ports</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/audioquests-series-10-hdmi-cable-takes-1080p-115-feet-with-no-e/">AudioQuest's Series 10 HDMI cable takes 1080p 115-feet with no extender</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 05 Sep 2008 23:02:00 EST. If you'll recall, Integra surprised at last year's CEDIA by trotting out its <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2007/09/07/hands-on-with-integras-dhs-8-8-hd-dvd-player/">DHS-8.8 HD DVD player</a>; this year, the company has quietly (silently, in fact) released its plainly styled DBS-6.9 Blu-ray deck. While the design may not suit your fancy, it's far from being the <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/09/05/sherwoods-bdp-6003-blu-ray-player-hands-on/">ugliest BD player</a> at the Expo, and reportedly, the Profile 1.1 unit will retail for a buck under $600 whenever it decides to ship. We can already tell you're uninterested based on the price alone, but feel free to peruse <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/photos/integra-quietly-launches-dbs-6-9-blu-ray-player-at-cedia-hands-on/">the gallery at Engadget HD</a> if you're hungry for pics.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/integra-quietly-launches-dbs-6-9-blu-ray-player-at-cedia-hands/">Integra quietly launches DBS-6.9 Blu-ray player at CEDIA: hands-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 05 Sep 2008 22:58:00 EST. Oppo, best known for its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/08/oppo-pushes-dv-980h-upconverting-dvd-player-for-mothers-day/">upconverting DVD players</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/18/oppos-dv-983h-universal-player-gets-reviewed/">universal decks</a>, has apparently decided to join the BD camp with little to no fuss. The BDP S83 was spotted over at the company's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CEDIA/">CEDIA</a> booth, and while no real details were provided ("it's loaded" is all we have to go on), we can't see any harm in having yet another alternative. Unless it's $350+, in which case we'll roll our eyes and stomp away with our arms crossed.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/oppo-joins-the-blu-ray-revolution-with-bdp-s83-deck/">Oppo joins the Blu-ray revolution with BDP S83 deck</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 05 Sep 2008 22:44:00 EST. The use of Class-D amplification in subwoofers is nothing new, but <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/paradigm/">Paradigm's</a> new Signature SUB 25 makes use of Power Factor Correction on the supply to grab the most power possible out of mains voltages between 108- and 265-Volts, yielding amplifier performance that can steadily crank out 3,000-Watts (and 7,500-Watt peaks). Put all that power behind a 15-inch driver with 3-inches of travel and you've got a formidable low frequency generator that will definitely expose any room nodes (or loose fillings) you have. And that's just where the Paradigm Perfect Bass Kit (PBK-1) room correction system comes in, using tech from the Anthem <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/arc-1/">ARC-1</a> to help you tune those problems away. Expect the SUB 25 and PBK-1 in late Q3 for $3999 and $299, respectively.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/speakers/" rel="tag">Speakers</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/paradigms-signature-sub-25-maximizes-the-fun-per-volt/">Paradigm's Signature SUB 25 maximizes the fun-per-volt</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 05 Sep 2008 21:14:00 EST. Infinity isn't the only Harman company bringing out <a>wireless subs</a> at CEDIA -- some tech is just destined to be shared between brands, and JBL's ES250PW and ES150PW subs bear a certain family resemblance to the Infinity <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/infinitys-new-subwoofers-cut-the-cord/">offerings</a>. The 2.4GHz wireless transmitters are dead ringers, and the cabinets do look similar, but JBL makes use of 12- and 10-inch PolyPlas polymer-coated paper woofers in the 400-Watt ES250PW and 300-Watt ES150PW models, respectively. The JBL PolyPlas may not sound as exotic as the Infinty driver materials, so the higher price points for the JBL equipment of $729 (ES250PW) and $599 (ES150PW) is a little surprising. Our advice is to wait and see street pricing and then shop with your ears between the brands.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/speakers/" rel="tag">Speakers</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/jbl-unleashes-a-pair-of-wireless-subs-at-cedia/">JBL unleashes a pair of wireless subs at CEDIA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 05 Sep 2008 20:33:00 EST. While we've seen <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/29/dnp-unveils-daylight-friendly-supernova-flex-screen/">daylight-friendly front projection screens</a> and all sorts of similar <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/11/planar-xscreen-enables-front-projection-in-lit-rooms/">solutions</a> to uncontrolled lighting in PJ-infused rooms, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Runco/">Runco</a>'s solution seems superior for those with the requisite coin. The two-piece VideoWall VW-100HD in-wall projection video display includes a lightweight 100-inch screen that can be flush-mounted within a wall alongside a VW-100HD projection system. The self-contained system includes a rear assembly less than 32-inches deep with sloping side panels to help it fit into tight nooks and crannies, and the screen itself reportedly "retains video contrast and brightness even when viewed in high amounts of ambient light." The 1080p beamer includes Runco's SuperOnyx chipset, HDMI / DVI / component / PC / S-Video / composite inputs, an RS-232 control port, Vivix II processing engine and a CinOptx lens system. You know you'd rather drop $39,995 on this rather than pick up a new C350 this November, right?<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/projector/" rel="tag">Projector</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/runco/" rel="tag">Runco</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/runco-debuts-100-inch-vw-100hd-in-wall-projection-video-display/">Runco debuts 100-inch VW-100HD in-wall projection video display</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 05 Sep 2008 18:20:00 EST. Certainly you've heard of the bass shaker <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/08/sonic-impacts-bm101-speaker-panel-resides-beneath-your-mattress/">concept</a> by now, right? If not, here's an alternative from Crowson that should make things crystal clear. The firm's new Shadow, which is obviously targeting the custom install market, gets bolted beneath any theater seat in which more bass is desired. When hooked up, the "Tactile Motion" feedback provides the wondrous feeling of bass without the hearing loss associated with cranking things to 11. Additionally, each chair can be controlled independently, meaning that some viewers could experience more rumble than others. Sadly, there's no mention of a price, but we're sure you can find an inflated one by phoning up your nearest HT dealer.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/speakers/" rel="tag">Speakers</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/crowsons-shadow-actuator-rumbles-your-rump-wont-damage-your-e/">Crowson's Shadow Actuator rumbles your rump, won't damage your ears</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 05 Sep 2008 18:03:00 EST. The fun has just begun in the Mile High City for Runco, which has followed up its <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/09/05/runco-lets-it-all-hang-out-intros-seven-new-1080p-lcds-plasma/">outlandish flat-panel announcement</a> with a replacement to the fabled VX-2 projector. The 3-chip VideoXtreme VX-8 is squarely aimed at those with fat wallets and the word "videophile" stitched into their Ralph Lauren scarfs, evidenced by the superfluous (but very appreciated) video processing capabilities via DHD with Vivix and three SuperOnyx DMDs. Additionally, you'll find the outfit's ConstantContrast tech, which delivers frame-by-frame contrast correction, while the CorrectColor brings "complete color calibration for D65 perfection." For more technobabble on the January-bound unit, hit up the read link -- but before you waste your time, let us remind you that this <em>will</em> cost $19,995.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hdtv/" rel="tag">HDTV</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/homeentertainment/" rel="tag">Home Entertainment</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/runco-announces-20-000-videoxtreme-vx-8-projector/">Runco announces $20,000 VideoXtreme VX-8 projector</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 05 Sep 2008 18:02:00 EST. For the most part, <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/Runco/">Runco</a> stays pretty quiet in the consumer realm... until <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/CEDIA/">CEDIA</a> rolls around. Once again, the high-end AV company is firing on all cylinders in Denver, announcing seven new 1080p LCD / plasma displays including its largest LCD to date, the 70-inch Crystal Series CX-70DHD (pictured). Along with the new panels, the outfit is unveiling its exclusive OPAL (Optical Path Alignment) technology on select models which "delivers extreme glare reduction and enhanced contrast for high ambient light environments." The aforesaid 70-incher (shipping mid-October for $34,995) actually comes bundled with an external DHD video controller / processor, which incorporates Runco's Vivix II tech to "enhance all digital and NTSC content to near high-definition quality." We'll admit, that sounds an <em>awful</em> lot like something Toshiba's <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/09/04/hands-on-with-toshibas-srt-regza-hdtvs-other-old-crap/">got going on</a> just a few booths over, but make of it what you will. After last night's discovery that Gefen was proudly <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/gefen-hedges-its-bets-announces-uwb-and-whdi-based-wireless-hd/">supporting both</a> Tzero's UWB technology and AMIMON's WHDI alternative, we just had to stop by and see if it was true. After chatting it up with a company representative, we discovered that Gefen is indeed introducing two new wireless HD products, each of which uses a separate technology. The Wireless for HDMI Extender (<a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/UWB/">UWB</a>) was seen sporting a black outfit, and we were told that it'll ship in about a fortnight for $800; the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/WHDI/">WHDI</a>-based GefenTV (that's the pair in silver) will begin shipping "later this year" for around a grand. When directly asked if Gefen had any plans to choose one protocol over the other, the rep simply stated that Gefen would be riding things out and supporting both until one took over.<br /><br />

Make no mistake about it, the iPhone (and the App Store in particular) has made the lives of many home owners much, much easier. As it stands, there are already a few apps out there <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/07/10/iphone-app-store-to-host-loads-of-home-automation-programs/">that interface with Crestron gear</a>, but to date, there's no official <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/Crestron/">Crestron</a> app to fiddle with. But give it 60 days or so and there will be -- at least, that's the good word over at the company's booth today at CEDIA. Said application will be 100% free to download, and as you can see in <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/photos/crestons-home-automation-iphone-app-demoed-at-cedia/">the gallery over at Engadget HD</a>, it elegantly enables wired home owners to control lighting, temperature and all sorts of other things via WiFi or 3G, at home or anywhere else in the world. Users can even program in settings for multiple houses, enabling them to turn the AC on in Orlando while blasting the heat in Jackson Hole. So let's see, all you need now is an iPhone, a couple properties, a few dozen grand to blow on Crestron HA gear and a tiny bit of patience.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/software/" rel="tag">Software</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/apple/" rel="tag">Apple</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/os-x/" rel="tag">iPhone OS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/crestrons-home-automation-iphone-app-demoed-at-cedia/">Crestron's home automation iPhone app demoed at CEDIA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 05 Sep 2008 17:25:00 EST. If you'll recall, Integra surprised at last year's CEDIA by trotting out its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/07/hands-on-with-integras-dhs-8-8-hd-dvd-player/">DHS-8.8 HD DVD player</a>; this year, the company has quietly (silently, in fact) released its plainly styled DBS-6.9 Blu-ray deck. While the design may not suit your fancy, it's far from being the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/sherwoods-bdp-6003-blu-ray-player-hands-on/">ugliest BD player</a> at the Expo, and reportedly, the Profile 1.1 unit will retail for a buck under $600 whenever it decides to ship. We can already tell you're uninterested based on the price alone, but feel free to peruse the gallery if you're hungry for pics.<br /><br />

They said <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/09/04/panasonic-and-comcast-to-demonstrate-real-tru2way-at-cedia/">they were going to do it</a>, and do it they did. While Samsung's tru2way "demonstration" was barely more than a hack job used to show off what the technology was about, Panasonic demoed the real deal at its <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/CEDIA/">CEDIA</a> booth. The 50-inch TH-50PZ80Q plasma contained a real <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/CableCARD/">CableCARD</a> (yes, we checked) and was receiving a live signal from Comcast. Denver is just one of a few markets where <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/tru2way/">tru2way</a> is theoretically ready to rock, and according to a Panny rep, the set we saw today is a production unit that will ship sometime "later this year." The <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/06/11/cable-ops-consumer-electronics-manufacturers-sign-agreement-on/">idea</a> here is to provide buyers with the ability to insert any CableCARD from any carrier (if you move, for example) into an HDTV, thus eliminating the cable company's stranglehold (best known as a "carrier-issued set-top-box") on you. The demo we saw went over very well -- everything was responsive and image quality was excellent. With Belkin's <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/09/05/belkins-flywire-hands-on-at-cedia/">FlyWire</a> just about to hit the market, JVC's planning to ride the wave and produce a <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/wirelessHDMI/">wireless HDMI</a> box of its very own. The unit was said to be a last minute addition to its <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/CEDIA/">CEDIA</a> arsenal, and the representatives on hand weren't even briefed on what wireless technology the demo was using. Of note, there <em>was</em> a live demo involving no smoke nor mirrors, where the box received a 1080p signal via HDMI and beamed it out to a hidden receiver that was connected to an HDTV via (you guessed it) HDMI. JVC is obviously aiming for consumers with just one primary set-top-box (a PS3, for instance), and the plug-and-play nature means it can work with any source and any display so long as HDMI is involved. Pricing hasn't been set, but we were told to expect a Q1 2009 launch. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Kaleidescape/">Kaleidescape</a>'s booth was jammed packed with prospective buyers this year, evidently unaffected by a flagging economy and absurd prices flung from the mouths of on-hand representatives. All angst aside, we did stop by the outfit's CEDIA booth to see just what was crackin' and to snap a few photographs all the while. We'll admit, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/18/kaleidescape-claims-new-1080p-upscaling-dvd-players-rival-blu/">1080p Player / 1080p Mini Player</a> are both beautiful pieces of equipment, and they certainly worked well when demonstrated. We'll refrain from commenting (<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/18/kaleidescape-claims-new-1080p-upscaling-dvd-players-rival-blu/">again</a>) on the value proposition here, but instead, we'll direct you to the gallery below with a forced grin.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/kaleidescapes-1080p-player-mini-player-hands-on/">Kaleidescape's 1080p Player / Mini Player hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/kaleidescapes-1080p-player-mini-player-hands-on/#1020383"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/9-5-08-1080pplayer-cedia2559_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/kaleidescapes-1080p-player-mini-player-hands-on/#1020392"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/9-5-08-1080pplayer-cedia2560_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/kaleidescapes-1080p-player-mini-player-hands-on/#1020387"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/9-5-08-1080pplayer-cedia2561_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/kaleidescapes-1080p-player-mini-player-hands-on/#1020399"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/9-5-08-1080pplayer-cedia2562_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/kaleidescapes-1080p-player-mini-player-hands-on/#1020396"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2008/09/9-5-08-1080pplayer-cedia2563_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/media-streamers/" rel="tag">Media streamers</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/other-formats/" rel="tag">Other formats</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/set-top-boxes/" rel="tag">Set-top boxes</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/kaleidescapes-1080p-player-mini-player-hands-on/">Kaleidescape's 1080p Player / Mini Player hands-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 05 Sep 2008 16:07:00 EST. Infinity is looking to clip that lonely cable that snakes from your audio rack to the subwoofer with its new lineup of PSW310W, PS212W and PS210W subs. The top model PSW310W (pictured) gets treated to a 10-inch ceramic-metal driver and 10-inch passive radiators, a 400-Watt amp and room tuning to tame nasty modes. The other two models make their way with 12- and 10-inch metal-matrix drivers for the PS212W and PS210W, respectively. Most importantly, though, all three models share the ability to beam your bass from the equipment rack to the sub via 2.4GHz transmitter. All models are available now for $1,199, $679 and $549 for the PSW210W, PS212W and PS210W, respectively.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/speakers/" rel="tag">Speakers</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/infinitys-new-subwoofers-cut-the-cord/">Infinity's new subwoofers cut the cord</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 05 Sep 2008 15:55:00 EST.
