Apparently sources close to the news network have revealed that the iPad 3 will be unveiled in New York rather than the traditional West Coast unveiling of previous products. It's interesting to note that the recent <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/16/apple-os-x-mountain-lion-10-8-in-depth-preview/">Mountain Lion</a> briefings and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/19/live-from-apples-education-event/">Education event</a> were both based in the Big Apple, lending <em>some</em> weight to the claim. Although company expert Jim Dalrymple has already rebutted the broadcaster's claim about the location. The rest? Well, it certainly tallies with the most recent crop of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/ipad-3-rumor-roundup/">rumors</a>, but when it's Apple-silly season we won't believe anything until we see it.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> Here it comes. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/28/apple-ipad-event-confirmed-for-march-7th-in-san-francisco/">official invitations</a> have been sent out by the company to an event in <em>San Francisco</em> on March 7th.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/28/cnbc-quad-core-ipad-3-with-lte-to-be-unveiled-in-new-york/">CNBC: Quad-core iPad 3 with LTE to be unveiled in New York (update: not New York)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 28 Feb 2012 11:14:00 EST. Time to call in the wireless waahmbulance. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/lightsquared/">LightSquared's</a> billionaire backer Phil Falcone made his television debut on CNBC's <em>Power Lunch</em> to cry foul at the behind-the-scenes lobbying drama that could put the brakes on his 4G dreams. The hedge fund manager pointed his finger at AT&amp;T and Verizon, claiming both are trying to "stomp out innovation" and competition by working in cahoots with the Save Our GPS Coalition. The soon-to-launch <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/28/sprint-and-lightsquared-confirm-agreement-15-years-worth-of-lte/">LTE network</a> continues to encounter significant opposition from the group, as its tests have shown LightSquared's planned 40,000 stations will transmit signals "up to <em>800 billion times</em>" more powerful than low-powered GPS, effectively blocking it out. Falcone insists that all parties involved knew of the potential <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/20/lightsquared-announces-solution-for-gps-issue-says-lte-networ/">interference issues</a> back in 2003, when the FCC first mandated the network's build-out, and promises a switch to the company's lower block of spectrum will remedy 99 percent of the problem. Whichever side of this he said / they said brouhaha you believe, one thing's for sure -- the 4G race is <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/15/verizon-lte-no-roaming-even-if-you-want-to/">getting</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/03/clearwire-adding-lte-advanced-ready-technology-to-its-holdings/">pretty</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/21/atandt-confident-t-mobile-deal-to-close-in-q1-2012/">ugly</a>.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/04/lightsquareds-phil-falcone-talks-to-cnbc-airs-his-feud-with-ve/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LightSquared's Phil Falcone talks to CNBC, airs his feud with Verizon and AT&amp;T (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/04/lightsquareds-phil-falcone-talks-to-cnbc-airs-his-feud-with-ve/">LightSquared's Phil Falcone talks to CNBC, airs his feud with Verizon and AT&amp;T (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 04 Aug 2011 17:39:00 EST. We do love to hear from <a href="http://www.engadget.com/all/ceohnohedidnt#">loquacious execs</a>, and HP's Todd Bradley has been the very definition of one in an interview conducted with CNBC during <a href="http://www.engadget.com/ces">CES</a>. In a discussion revolving around webOS, Bradley was asked how HP intends to differentiate itself from the iPad and improve upon it, to which he quipped, "you and I will talk about that on <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/04/hp-invites-press-to-an-exciting-webos-announcement-on-february/">the 9th</a>." If that's not a confirmation that we'll finally have our unicorn of a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/17/palms-tablet-is-codenamed-topaz-keyboard-accessory-leaks-out/">webOS tablet</a> next month, we don't know what is. Even more encouraging is the implication further on in the interview that HP could have debuted this slate at CES, but opted to do an unveiling at a separate event so as to properly highlight just how awesome it is. But wait, there's yet more good news for webOS fans: Bradley's crew sees its upcoming tablet as just "one piece" of the connected experience that is the company's goal and we're promised to be enlightened about a broad range of webOS devices at the February 9th event in San Francisco, though the lack of any Palm namedrops seems to suggest they might not bear the name of their maker. Even if they're called <a href="http://www.engadget.com/all/ipaq">iPaqs</a>, we just want to see them already!<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/13/hps-todd-bradley-all-but-confirms-webos-tablet-for-february-9th/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>HP's Todd Bradley all but confirms webOS tablet for February 9th event, promises even more devices</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/13/hps-todd-bradley-all-but-confirms-webos-tablet-for-february-9th/">HP's Todd Bradley all but confirms webOS tablet for February 9th event, promises even more devices</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 13 Jan 2011 03:17:00 EST. There's a total of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/21/nbc-divvies-up-835-hours-of-winter-olympics-action-over-tv-and-onl/">835 hours of HD coverage</a> spread across NBC Universal's various channels. With so many hours of HD coverage it really shows how far we've come since the first HD Olympics in Athens in 2004, when NBC broadcast one 24 hour Olympic HD channel with events were from the previous day, and only one commercial -- you know, the Sony "Chips and Salsa" commercial that was played ad nauseam. Our favorite way to keep up with the HD sports schedule is HDSportsGuide.com but we're also sure to check out as much of the coverage online at NBCOlympics.com as we can.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/12/the-2010-winter-olympics-kicks-off-tonight-in-hd/">The 2010 Winter Olympics kicks off tonight in HD</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 12 Feb 2010 16:55:00 EST. Looking for something watch once the President Obama press conference is over? If CNBC HD+ is in the channel lineup, click over to check out the channel's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/17/cnbc-hd-wont-be-hd/">first true high definition production</a> <em>Cruise Inc: Big Money On The High Seas</em> at 9 p.m. It's the first of several documentaries apparently planned in HD, and not a moment too soon. Taking advantage of the addition space HDTVs can provide (as pictured above) has been nice, but it's good to know we didn't have to go all Jon Stewart on them to get some real HD.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/cnbc/cnbc_cruising_into_high_def_112153.asp">Media Bistro</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/primetime/" rel="tag">Primetime</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/new-content/" rel="tag">New content</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/24/cnbc-hd-is-actually-hd-for-the-first-time-tonight/">CNBC HD is actually HD for the first time tonight</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 24 Mar 2009 20:50:00 EST. CNBC, MSNBC and FOX News have all been added to the lineup in order to give you varying views on the same topics at hand. Available to Verizon Wireless and AT&amp;T subscribers, the channels will offer simulcast programming in line with what's happening on the tele, though we'd caution you not to watch too much coverage during your morning board meeting.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.phonescoop.com/news/item.php?n=3306">phonescoop</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/multimedia/" rel="tag">Multimedia</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/atandt/" rel="tag">ATT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/verizon-wireless/" rel="tag">Verizon Wireless</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/25/mediaflo-now-serving-msnbc-cnbc-and-fox-news/">MediaFLO now serving MSNBC, CNBC and FOX News</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 25 Aug 2008 18:50:00 EST. This week we have a few more channels for you, but not as many of details as we would like on any of them. Discovery will be launching what they are calling four new channels, but one of them is an HD simulcast of the Discovery channel. We're not sure if this will replace the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/discovery-hd/">Discovery HD Theater</a> that we have all come to love, or just add even more HD content, but they will also be launching HD simulcast versions of TLC, Animal Planet and The Science Channel. These new channels from Discovery will be carried at launch by at least <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=DirecTV">DirecTV</a> this September. Also mentioned in the press release as coming this year is CNBC and Chiller (who?). While it is still questionable if DirecTV will carry <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/09/directv-to-carry-100-national-hd-channels-in-2007/">100 HD National channel</a> this year, -- at least <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/28/the-truth-comes-out-about-directvs-100-hd-channels/">without counting sports packages</a> -- this will certainly be remember as a big year in the transition of cable TV channels to HD. A full list of the channels announced to date after the break.<br /><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/23/more-new-hd-channels-on-the-way-from-discovery-cnbc-and-chiller/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>More new HD channels on the way from Discovery, CNBC and Chiller</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/discovery-hd/" rel="tag">Discovery-HD</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/satellite/" rel="tag">Satellite</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/new-content/" rel="tag">New content</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/23/more-new-hd-channels-on-the-way-from-discovery-cnbc-and-chiller/">More new HD channels on the way from Discovery, CNBC and Chiller</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 23 May 2007 10:32:00 EST. Au contraire, Jim Cramer from CNBC's <em>Mad Money</em> apparently felt that busting open a (cleverly chosen) brown Microsoft Zune would better illustrate how MSFT was a "loser," while AAPL was most certainly a winner. After (quite literally) ranting for a good bit about how <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/apple/">Apple</a> has single-handedly changed the way we listen to music, he informs everyone that the Zune was "beat before it hit the market," and proceeds to literally beat the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/zune">Zune</a> until it was (somewhat) damaged from multiple baseball bat blows. Notably, the Zune stood up fairly well to the torture, and still retained its shape after it took a lickin'. Of course, if you're really interested in whether the Zune or iPod give way to a brighter <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/26/the-engadget-index/">financial</a> future for either company, you should probably hit up our pals at <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/01/05/zune-and-ipod-sales-during-the-holidays/">BloggingStocks</a> for that, but be sure to check out the video of "Jim Gone Wild" after the break.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://digg.com/gadgets/Mad_Money_Jim_Cramer_Smashes_the_Zune">Digg</a>]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/08/smash-my-zune-the-jim-cramer-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Smash my Zune: the Jim Cramer edition</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/08/smash-my-zune-the-jim-cramer-edition/">Smash my Zune: the Jim Cramer edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 08 Jan 2007 18:45:00 EST.
