Just about a year ago, JVC introduced its first lineup of quickly refreshing LCD TVs, and now the company is reinstating its support by offering up adequate replacements. The forthcoming High Speed 2 series of sets will sport a second-generation version of its Clear Motion Drive technology, which enables a 120Hz refresh rate that was "designed specifically for Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) displays" and is said to "improve motion detection fivefold compared to the original high speed driver." Essentially, CMD II will offer up reduced blurring, flickering, and motion interpolation, and it will work side by side with the fifth-generation D.I.S.T. (Digital Image Scaling Technology) engine on the "JVC-exclusive" 32-bit Genessa chip. Additionally, the trio will sport three HDMI 1.3 ports apiece, a slimmer bezel around the display, and a whole lot less plastic compared to previous iterations. While there's no word on price just yet, the 37-inch LT-37X898, 42-inch LT-42X898, and 47-inch LT-47X898 should hit US shores sometime this fall.

[Via Electronista]

JVC intros High Speed 2 1080p LCD TVs with 120Hz refresh originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 18 May 2007 08:31:00 EST. We also took a look around JVCs exhibit off of the show floor and took a look at early versions of HDTVs that should be hitting shelves sometime soon. The 120Hz refresh drive LCD (pictured above) was running a simulated demo of its ability to reduce motion blurring, and is expected to hit this year. The LED-backlit LCD/ 120Hz Clear Motion Drive we saw previously at CEBIT had colors that looked great but unfortunately is still without any prediction of when it will be ready to ship but you can take another look at it after the break.
Continue reading JVC's prototype 120Hz and LED-backlit LCDs

JVC's prototype 120Hz and LED-backlit LCDs originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 09 Jan 2007 17:45:00 EST. JVC's 120Hz Clear Motion Drive utilizes frame doubling and motion interpolation in a way that they claim is at least theoretically superior to a traditional 60Hz LCD with a 0ms refresh rate. The company has decided it is time to create a new way to measure the rate of image blurring, in order to show the difference between newer motion drive-equipped HDTVs and traditional panels. Called Motion Picture Response Time, these LCDs will rate 10.5ms, while previous models could not possibly rate higher than 13.3ms. However you count it, it will be interesting to see how much of a difference this new technology makes, and if people who already own conventional 1080p LCDs will consider upgrading for it when they become available in the second half of this year.

JVC unveils 120Hz Clear Motion Drive for 1080p LCDs originally appeared on Engadget on Sun, 07 Jan 2007 01:40:00 EST. She ain't the prettiest girl on the block but she sure is fast! JVC just announced their intent to bring their previously Japanese-only, 120Hz Clear Motion Drive LCD TVs to these United States. That's 120 frames per second, son -- the original frame plus a new, interpolated frame -- which is about double the rate of your typical, god-fearin' LCD panel. The result? A brighter, smoother picture offering a significant reduction in ghosting. The $2,700, 37-inch LT-37X987 and $2,000, 32-inch LT-32X987 bring ATSC/QAM/NTSC tuning, a 1366 x 768 native resolution, JVC's fifth-gen D.I.S.T upscaling tech, 6-millisecond response time, and plenty of the ol' in-and-outs including 2 x HDMI inputs, 2 x component inputs, 2 x S-Video inputs, a 15 pin D-Sub PC input, optical digital audio out and audio output. Expect the 37-incher to drop in August with the 32-incher set to roll in October.

JVC's new 32 and 37-inch LCD TVs with fast 120Hz refresh originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 30 Jun 2006 09:25:00 EST.
