A few months back, we were granted unprecedented access to Westone's lair (just a year and change after <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/25/klipsch-headquarters-walkthrough-behind-the-scenes-and-between/">visiting Klipsch's HQ</a>), and they even let a film crew in for good measure. The goal? To show you, the budding audiophile, exactly how a set of custom in-ear monitors are crafted, and what kind of work goes into creating one of the planet's most diminutive speaker arrangements. We've whipped up the entire experience there in the video above, but if you're looking for a more textual perspective, head on past the break.<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/westone-headquarters-walkthrough-the-making-of-an-in-ear-monitor/">Westone headquarters walkthrough (the making of an in-ear monitor)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/westone-headquarters-walkthrough-the-making-of-an-in-ear-monitor/#4244177"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/06/westone-headquarters-walkthrough-2011-engadget-show8349_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/westone-headquarters-walkthrough-the-making-of-an-in-ear-monitor/#4244176"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/06/westone-headquarters-walkthrough-2011-engadget-show8350_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/westone-headquarters-walkthrough-the-making-of-an-in-ear-monitor/#4244175"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/06/westone-headquarters-walkthrough-2011-engadget-show8351_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/westone-headquarters-walkthrough-the-making-of-an-in-ear-monitor/#4244174"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/06/westone-headquarters-walkthrough-2011-engadget-show8352_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/westone-headquarters-walkthrough-the-making-of-an-in-ear-monitor/#4244173"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/06/westone-headquarters-walkthrough-2011-engadget-show8353_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/09/westone-lab-tour-how-in-ear-monitors-are-made-from-impressions/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Westone lab tour: how in-ear monitors are made, from impressions to impressing (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/09/westone-lab-tour-how-in-ear-monitors-are-made-from-impressions/">Westone lab tour: how in-ear monitors are made, from impressions to impressing (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 09 Aug 2011 12:00:00 EST. We're here to inform you that you won't have to spend yet another long, lonely winter without <em>30 Rock</em> in high-def. As of today, the satcaster has delivered those three locals in high-def to the aforesaid DMA, which brings the grand total to 103 cities across the United States. You've still got 18 to go before the year's out to meet that goal of 121 locales this year, DirecTV -- the clock's ticking!<br /><br /><strong>Update</strong>: Looks like DirecTV <a href="http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/directv-delivers-local-hd-programming/story.aspx?guid=%7B3EFFD4AA-B065-4239-BAB0-B878D2F54EC2%7D&amp;dist=hppr">delivered</a> all four of the broadcast networks today in Dayton, Ohio. Disney HD (763), ABC Family HD (764), TLC HD (765), Food HD (766), HGTV HD (767) and Science HD (768) have just recently gone live, but we're left to wonder whether those <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/02/comcast-infrastructure-upgrades-to-over-double-hd-offerings-in-l/">incoming Longmont stations</a> will filter their way south. Here's to hoping that eventually gets answered with a resounding "yes."<br /><br />[Thanks, Peter]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cable/" rel="tag">Cable</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/new-content/" rel="tag">New content</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/17/colorado-springs-gets-a-half-dozen-new-hd-stations-from-comcast/">Colorado Springs gets a half dozen new HD stations from Comcast</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 17 May 2008 14:25:00 EST. Reportedly, the operator has launched six HD channels in its Colorado Springs market -- Cinemax HD, Versus / Golf Channel HD, Universal-HD, MHD, National Geographic HD and A&amp;E HD -- bringing the area's total to 19. Best of all, the half dozen new choices come at an oh-so-bearable cost of nada if you're already a digital cable subscriber with an HD-enabled set-top-box.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cable/" rel="tag">Cable</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/31/comcast-hands-out-six-more-hd-channels-in-colorado-springs/">Comcast hands out six more HD channels in Colorado Springs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 31 Jul 2007 17:10:00 EST.
