<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/03/foxconn-mozilla-firefox-os/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img alt="Foxconn inks deal with Mozilla to develop Firefox OS phones and tablets" data-src-height="413" data-src-width="619" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/06/foxconn-mozilla-firefox-os.jpg" style="margin:4px" /></a></p>

<p>In between the packed schedule at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/computex2013/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Computex</a> earlier today, our brethren over at <em>Engadget Chinese</em> managed to sneak into the joint event held by Foxconn and Mozilla. As you may have already <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/05/27/foxconn-mozilla-firefox-os-partnership/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">heard</a>, the former company has signed on to become the 19th member of the latter's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/firefoxos/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Firefox OS</a> alliance, and it's already working on at least five devices. That said, it's unclear whether these include the first-ever Firefox OS tablet (pictured above) that was present at the event. And no, we weren't allowed to touch this mysterious device.</p>

<p>The two groups will also cooperate on the software side, and Mozilla took the opportunity to indicate the healthy growth in its app ecosystem, with well-known apps like AccuWeather and SoundCloud jumping on board. But <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/03/01/firefox-os-is-repeating-the-mistakes-of-others/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">will that be enough</a>? We'll see how the developing countries react to the first Firefox OS phones when they <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/04/15/mozilla-ceo-firefox-os-ecosystems-carrier-bloatware/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">come out</a> in the summer. Press release after the break.</p>

<p>In a Chinese invitation we received earlier today, Foxconn Technology Group and Mozilla confirmed an upcoming press conference that will detail and make their <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/firefoxos?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Firefox OS</a> partnership official. The event will take place in Taipei next Monday (just a few days before Computex truly kicks off), and it'll see Mozilla welcome the 19th partner to its Firefox OS alliance. There isn't much meat in the email, though we did spot a little hint in the rundown that says one or more of the "latest" Firefox OS products will be on show. Whatever they may be, we shall keep an eye out for them as soon as we land in <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/terrygou/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Terry Gou's</a> back garden next week.</p>

<p>Attention HTML5 virtuosos: Mozilla is thirsty for your talents. So much, in fact, that the outfit is baiting developers with a free smartphone in the hopes they'll return the favor with fresh <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/05/03/mozilla-finalizes-firefox-os-simulator-3/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Firefox OS</a> apps. In order to qualify for a device, you'll need to submit a proposal to Mozilla outlining the app you wish to build or port to its new mobile platform. If your pitch is accepted, the company will hook you up with a free <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/25/geeksphone-keon-hands-on/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Geeksphone Keon</a> to thank you for your labor. Sure, the device's 3.5-inch HVGA display, 1GHz Snapdragon S1 processor, 512MB of RAM and 3-megapixel rear-facing camera are entry-level at best, but remember you're getting this handset gratis. The program is set to close at the end of the month or when supplies run out, whichever comes first. So, if you're interested in adding "Firefox OS developer" to your resume, hit up the source link to apply.</p>

<p>If you've yet to dabble around with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/24/zte-open-hands-on/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Firefox OS</a>, today would be a good opportunity to remedy that, because Mozilla has released the final version of Firefox OS Simulator 3.0. Building off of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/03/14/mozilla-unveils-firefox-os-simulator-3-0-with-push-to-device-ro/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">preview release</a> from mid-March, this version has been slimmed down with a smaller download size, faster startup time and plenty of bug fixes. The finalized release also contains newer versions of Firefox OS and the Gaia UI, and best of all, it's really easy to install -- merely add the extension within Firefox and you're off to the races. As a hint, you can switch between the four primary home screens by clicking and dragging, and from there, you'll realize there's plenty to play with. Think of it as the poor man's version of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/04/23/firefox-os-developer-phones-on-sale-now/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">buying a new phone</a>.</p>

From a fully fleshed user manual to product shots and RF reports, most everything about the 3.5-inch bright orange-backed handset is available for public consumption. Bearing model number C8666GP, the meager Keon reps an HVGA display, 1,580mAh Li-ion battery, 1GHz single-core Snapdragon S17225A processor and support for GPRS/GSM/WCDMA 850MHz and 1900Mhz bands, making this global handset usable in the states on AT&amp;T should you opt for an import. It's expected to cost around &euro;91 (about $120 USD) when it lands, so if you care to take a low-cost crack at Gary Kovacs' newly minted OS, you know where to look.</p>

According to the email, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/25/geeksphone-keon-hands-on/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Keon</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/25/geeksphone-peek-hands-on-a-midrange-firefox-os-phone-from-spain/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Peak</a> smartphones we saw at MWC will hit its site next week -- albeit as developer preview units. Still, Geeksphone says the two handsets "will be available for dispatch anywhere on earth." The lower-end Keon will cost &euro;91 plus taxes, while the mid-range Peak will set you back &euro;149. Early adopters can subscribe to the mailing list to stay updated; click through to the source link.</p><p> <br /> [Thanks, William]</p>

Announced via the company's developer-focused <em>Hacks</em> blog, navigator.mozPay() is a Javascript API crafted in the vein of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/google%20wallet/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Google Wallet</a>, but with a key difference: it'll allow direct carrier billing and support for various payment providers. So when users trigger the 'Buy' button from within a web app, they'll be presented with a window from which to complete the purchase, with the entirety of the transaction taking place "<a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/in-app%20purchases/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">in-app</a>." Despite the desire to open this payment API up to all comers and deliver flexibility to consumers and merchants, the first batch of Firefox OS handsets will actually feature a whitelist of approved payment providers -- something Mozilla hopes will eventually change as this API evolves and becomes more secure. But Firefox OS isn't the last stop for the payment platform, as it'll be headed to the desktop browser and Firefox for Android soon.</p>

It only makes sense, then, that a new version would surface following the mobile operating system's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/24/live-from-mozillas-mwc-2013-press-event/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">official</a> unveiling at Mobile World Congress 2013. Like versions 1.0 and 2.0, Firefox OS Simulator 3.0 runs as an extension in Mozilla's browser and is available on Linux, Windows and OS X. The new preview adds several features, including Push to Device, which brings over apps installed on the OS Simulator to a Firefox OS device provided it's connected via USB. Rotation simulation and an updated version of the software's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/gaia/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Gaia</a> interface are also on board. To give the Simulator a go, head to Mozilla's FTP server, where you'll find it under the working name r2d2b2g. Click through to source links for the full installation directions.</p>

Competitors and the march of time are<span> closing in quicker than it can raise its defenses</span><span>. Her crown jewel, </span><a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/firefox?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Firefox</a><span>, is feeling the squeeze as </span><a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/chrome?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Chrome</a><span> encroaches on its hard-won territory and mobile offensives have proven largely fruitless. This leaves Mozilla in an awkward position: that of out-of-touch industry stalwart. Being late to the mobile game and Apple's reluctance to open up iOS to third-party browsers has left the company boxed in. (Developers can create browsers for iOS so long as they use the </span><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/28/google-puts-chrome-on-iphone-and-ipad/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">same rendering engine</a><span> as Safari -- a deal breaker for the Gecko-based Firefox.)</span></p><p> Mozilla has responded by borrowing a page from the Google (Chrome)book: build an operating system that is essentially nothing more than a browser. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/firefoxos?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Firefox OS</a> is yet another mobile platform built entirely on HTML5 that treats websites as apps. In fact, websites are the "apps" -- there is no such thing as native code. And while there are legitimate arguments for such a model, I've yet to see it convincingly executed. We've caught <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/28/mozilla-boot-to-gecko-hands-on-video/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">glimpses</a> of Mozilla's smartphone offspring <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/12/11/mozilla-firefox-os-simulator-download-private-browsing/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">before</a>, but Mobile World Congress 2013 was really the proper coming out party. Finally we've been given a chance to touch it, see it action and peek at the hardware it'll be running on. Unfortunately, at this cotillion, Mozilla failed to make a good case for anyone to court its debutante.</p>

Unfortunately the two handsets we caught up with at Telefonica's booth were behind glass and no amount of reason was going to see them sprung. Obviously the Huawei offering isn't close to ready as it is running on an Android set, though, the LG while powered off certainly looked like a complete housing featuring the requisite home button. So it would seem Firefox OS has become a waiting game as we sit and tally what <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/24/alcatel-one-touch-fire/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">other</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/25/geeksphone-keon-hands-on/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">manufacturers</a> feel it's safe to jump on <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/25/sony-telefonica-firefox-os-2014/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">board</a>. We can't quite blame you, but it's getting a fair share of attention at Mobile World Congress. While the company has cranked out an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/07/geeksphone-zero-to-sell-for-189-pre-orders-starting-soon/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Android handset</a> or two over the past few years, it's now dipping a second hand into the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/firefox%20os/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Firefox OS</a> pot. Of the two models unveiled at this week's show, the Peak is the higher-end: it boasts a 4.3-inch qHD display, 8MP rear camera and 2MP front-facing cam, a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Play chipset (MSM8225), 512MB RAM, 4GB storage with microSD expansion and a 1,800mAh battery.</p><p> As you can see, the specs on the Peak aren't anything to email home about, but for a Firefox OS device, it's certainly above-average. The materials are rather on the plasticky side and don't necessarily exude a large sense of elegance, but we're not going to say that the build quality isn't out of the norm for a device in this price range. We didn't have any problem holding it in our hand, and while we weren't given exact dimensions, it appeared to be roughly 10mm thick. The back of the Peak sports the camera, LED flash and the branding of a Firefox OS developer device.</p><p> In terms of radio frequencies, the Peak is compatible with HSPA 900/1900/2100 and quad-band GSM / EDGE. It's expected to arrive in Geeksphone's retail store in the coming weeks and the estimated price will be around 200 euros. Check out our full gallery and video of the device and OS below.</p><p> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/geeksphone-peek-hands-on/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Geeksphone Peek hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/geeksphone-peek-hands-on/5665830?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/dsc04574_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/geeksphone-peek-hands-on/5665831?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/dsc04575_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/geeksphone-peek-hands-on/5665828?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/dsc04578_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/geeksphone-peek-hands-on/5665827?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/dsc04577_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/geeksphone-peek-hands-on/5665812?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/dsc04587_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p>

ZTE was also showing off two shades of its new smartphone, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/24/possible-zte-open-spotted/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">the Open</a>. The device will launch in orange and blue in global territories starting in Q2. It has a very handy 3.5-inch screen, meaning there's no issues holding it in one hand but there's not a lot of premium feel going on here. The plastic shell felt like any low-end Android device, though we won't fault the grippy finish here.</p><p> Other specs (that we've already <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/23/zte-open-firefox-os-mwc-leak/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">snuck a peek at</a>) include a <span>Cortex-A5-based Qualcomm processor that could be clocked at either 600MHz or 800MHz -- we're trying to get a confirmation on that. There's also </span><span>256MB of RAM, 512MB of expandable storage and a humble 3.2-megapixel camera on the back. The 480 x 320 screen itself is nothing to shout home about. Again, it feels like a flashback to those sub-$150 smartphones that did the rounds back in 2011 and while it's not the flashiest spec sheet, ZTE (and Firefox) are pitching this at those millions of future smartphone users that haven't already plumped for a mobile OS. However, the search function looks pretty pervasive, able to tap into apps, the web and more in search of the answer you're looking for. Specific carriers will be able to add in their own apps (pre-installed or not) for its customers. We got a glimpse at a data monitoring app that could pull together your data habits and respective carrier plans -- even if there's no word on a US release beyond some time in 2014. There's a quick hands-on after the break.</span><span> </span><span><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zte-open-hands-on/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">ZTE Open hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zte-open-hands-on/5662743?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/zteopenhandson04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zte-open-hands-on/5662740?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/zteopenhandson01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zte-open-hands-on/5662748?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/zteopenhandson09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zte-open-hands-on/5662749?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/zteopenhandson10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zte-open-hands-on/5662741?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/zteopenhandson02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></span><span> </span></p><p> <em>Myriam Joire, Terrence O'Brien and Sharif Sakr contributed to this report.</em></p>

While attending its press conference at MWC today, however, we just had to ask: when will we be getting a turn at the mobile operating system? CEO Gary Kovacs assured us that the US is indeed on the list (albeit a bit further down), and his company has both plans and partners lined up for what looks to be a 2014 release time frame for the low cost operating system.</p>

Suitably dubbed the One Touch Fire, this entry-level phone is basically a rehash of the budget <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/01/07/alcatel-one-touch-pop-series/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">One Touch T'Pop</a> announced back at CES, packing a 3.5-inch HVGA TN display, a 1GHz processor, 256MB RAM, 512MB storage and a 3.2-megapixel camera. There are also the usual bunch of radios: WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, FM radio and UMTS 900/2100 and 850/1900/2100 (up to 7.2Mbps for download and 5.76Mbps for upload). Underneath the <span>removable 1,400mAh battery you'll find a </span><span>microSD slot that'll take anything up to 32GB (a 2GB card is included), as well as a slot for an old-school Mini-SIM card.</span></p><p> We got the chance to play with the Fire earlier today and while the glossy plastic body -- in either orange or pink -- felt solid enough, the performance wasn't quite there yet: the touch and software response were significantly sluggish, as you'll see in our hands-on video after the break. On the brighter side of things, the surprisingly large loudspeaker on the back produced some punchy bass, but don't expect too much from its audio quality. Alcatel has a few more months to grease up the phone before its June launch across Latin America and Europe, so we'll be able to give it a proper score then. Press release after the break.</p><p> <span><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/alcatel-one-touch-fire-hands-on/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Alcatel One Touch Fire hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/alcatel-one-touch-fire-hands-on/5661621?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/alcatel-one-touch-fire-2013-02-24_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/alcatel-one-touch-fire-hands-on/5661631?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/alcatel-one-touch-fire-2013-02-24-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/alcatel-one-touch-fire-hands-on/5661632?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/alcatel-one-touch-fire-2013-02-24-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/alcatel-one-touch-fire-hands-on/5661633?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/alcatel-one-touch-fire-2013-02-24-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/alcatel-one-touch-fire-hands-on/5661635?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/alcatel-one-touch-fire-2013-02-24-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></span></p>

That's obviously different from Google and Apple's approach, perhaps to entice carriers to jump on board with devices packing the new mobile OS. You'll be able to grab apps in categories like games, news and media from outfits like EA, Disney, Facebook and Twitter. Mozilla's also touting "one-time use and downloadable apps" to let users test out apps before they buy them. The organization said that developers will be able to use "web technologies at the core," to create HTML5-based apps, in order to populate the new ecosystem quickly. The marketplace won't arrive to Firefox OS until later this year, but you can get a preview on <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/19/mozilla-opens-firefox-marketplace-for-aurora-builds-of-android/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Firefox for Android Aurora</a>. One of the more noticeable announcements focused on <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/24/firefox-to-offer-multiple-marketplaces-payments-operator/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Firefox Marketplace</a>, detailing HTML5 apps you might have heard of before. Along the predictable likes of Facebook and Twitter, games like <em>Cut The Rope</em> will also make an appearance on the new mobile OS, as well as <em>Where's My Water</em>, Disney Mobile and EA game titles. There will be support for cloud file storage through Box too, as well as a mapping app from <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/nokiahere/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Nokia Here</a>. Yes, the Finnish phone maker will be bringing its location clout to Firefox OS. SoundCloud, Pulse News, Time Out and Airbnb have also signed up for the new operating system. Want to know more? Well, according to this spec sheet spotted by a tipster at ZTE's MWC booth, said device will be appropriately named ZTE Open, and it'll come with a moderate set of components: a Cortex-A5-based Qualcomm <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/msm7225a/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">MSM7225A</a> (which is known to clock at either 600MHz or 800MHz), a 3.5-inch HVGA TFT display with capacitive touchscreen, 256MB DDR SDRAM, 512MB NAND storage and the usual set of radios like WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 (with EDR3), GPS and FM radio. Interestingly, there will be a 3.2-megapixel <strike>front-facing</strike> camera, <strike>but it appears that there'll be none on the back</strike>. The Open will be available in three SKUs with different UMTS bands: 850/1900, 850/2100 and 900/2100. As always, we'll be sharing the full announcement and hands-on once we see the phone at MWC, though we have a feeling that we've <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/01/07/firefox-os-mystery-phone/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">already</a> played with it before.</p><p> <strong>Update: </strong>As some of you have pointed out, yes, the "FF" may actually mean "fixed focus" instead of "front-facing," and the former seems more likely.</p><p> [Thanks, anonymous]</p>

While we've already taken a look at the huge <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/01/30/zte-grand-memo-hands-on/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Grand Memo</a> in action, the Chinese maker's invite suggests that there will be another "major new mobile device" to show us, throwing in a 'ZTEMozilla' hashtag for good measure. Hold on, Barcelona. We're coming.</p>
