Initially, a note on the company's home page indicated tech support and guide data would come to an end at the end of 2013 as noted by Zatz Not Funny, but references to that have since been removed. Potentially abandoned users on AVS Forum have already started looking for alternative ways to keep the guide data flowing and possibly get help from Arris in prying open the code to do so. We've contacted Arris for more information but haven't received a response yet -- we'll update you when / if we do. In the meantime Digeo's baby is still operational, so owners can enjoy however much time they have left, we'd recommend studying up on the stages of grief so you'll understand how to handle them over the next several months.

Update: Arris has updated its page, claiming the discontinuation notice was an "error", and that it has "no plans" to discontinue service. We don't know why you're still using a ReplayTV, but if you are then we say congratulations, since you can just keep right on going. Tomorrow was supposed to be the last day guide data would be provided but as shown in this picture from satpro on AVSForum its parent company has reversed course and decided to continue EPG services. As ZatznotFunny points out, there's probably a few TiVo Series 1 owners in the UK hoping for a similar change of fortune, but wile we admire their steadfastness we're still wondering why they won't just switch to something HD.
ReplayTV escapes the executioner's blade, guide data to continue flowing originally appeared on Engadget on Sat, 30 Jul 2011 14:38:00 EST. It looks like one of DirecTV's astronauts had more trouble flipping switches than their DISH counterparts, after a software or guide data update last night knocked out HD DVRs all over -- and not for the first time. Currently the only advice needed to get back in working order is to reset the box twice (there's a red button on the front, underneath the flap) within a thirty minute period (the official website indicates you can wait as little as 15 seconds between resets) and all should be well, but good luck getting through to customer service to get that message right now. Countdown to an apology starts... now.

[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

Update: According to DirecTV's website, a "transmission glitch" was to blame and it has automatically reset affected receivers from its end, so no further red button pushing should be necessary. We'll say one thing for our friends in Redmond, they might not always be on the ball but they do recovery quickly. Not even 48 hours after we reported the problem of missing guide data for ATSC channels that no longer have an NTSC counterparts, Microsoft came up with a interim fix that should restore guide data to all those pre-TV Pack Windows Media Center users. As we suspected, the issue had something to do with the old analog channel requirement and the root source of the guide data -- you didn't think Microsoft hand coded all that information did you? Evidently one of the sources of data used for both NTSC and ASTC channels dried up, post analog shutoff, and it caught the eHome team off guard. The good news is that all should be restored when your HTPC requests new data and if your like us -- you know the impatient type -- then a quick visit to "Tasks --> Settings --> TV --> Guide --> Get Latest Guide Listings" should do the trick. The full response from Redmond after the break.
Continue reading Microsoft restores guide data for ATSC channels in Media Center

Microsoft restores guide data for ATSC channels in Media Center originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 19 Mar 2009 16:41:00 EST.
