Whether it's been something as small as its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/10/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-and-impressions/">S4 line</a> of smartphone oriented in-ears or grand speaker systems like its AirPlay-enabled <a href="http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=1&amp;ved=0CDkQFjAA&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.engadget.com%2F2011%2F11%2F21%2Fklipsch-gallery-g-17-air-soundbar-review%2F&amp;ei=aNYYT-KxB8K0iQKS16HOCA&amp;usg=AFQjCNHq0LBOuC1FPATlvBr0V4ACTFuUEg&amp;sig2=hAg5dZASJiwGteaErCeezQ">G-17 Air</a>, we've usually ended up awarding the brand our highest praise. If you'll recall, it was little over a year ago that Klipsch introduced its $150 Image One on-ear headphones -- the company's first set ever that weren't of the intra-aural variety, and a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/10/irl-nikon-d3s-ipod-classic-and-klipschs-image-one-headphones/">favorite</a> of our own James Trew.<br /> <br /> Fast forward to the present, and the company's unleashed its second proper over-the-head headphone, the Klipsch Mode M40 with active noise-cancellation. In recent years, headphones have exploded in popularity -- many companies have been furiously trying to blend good sound with fashion-forward looks. It's safe to say that's Klipsch's end game here, and is asking that you part ways with 350 bones to get in on the action.<br /> <br /> Put simply, these aren't a follow-up to the Image Ones, but rather, a luxury pair that takes cues from the company's reference series headphones. Of course, as we've come to expect from Klipsch, the M40s do have some notable tricks up their yokes aside from their debatably fashionable looks -- the company promises they'll cancel noise for a massively long 45 hours on a single AAA battery, and both earcups feature an interesting dual-driver array with a 15mm tweeter and a 40mm woofer. So, have the M40s made us smitten with Klipsch all over again? Or not? Maybe something a bit more <em>complicated</em>? Click on past the break to find out!<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-mode-m40-noise-cancelling-headphones-review/">Klipsch Mode M40 noise-cancelling headphones review</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-mode-m40-noise-cancelling-headphones-review/#4772634"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc0708_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-mode-m40-noise-cancelling-headphones-review/#4772635"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc0709_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-mode-m40-noise-cancelling-headphones-review/#4772636"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc0711_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-mode-m40-noise-cancelling-headphones-review/#4772637"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc0712_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-mode-m40-noise-cancelling-headphones-review/#4772638"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc0714_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/24/klipsch-mode-m40-noise-cancelling-headphones-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Klipsch Mode M40 noise-cancelling headphones review</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/24/klipsch-mode-m40-noise-cancelling-headphones-review/">Klipsch Mode M40 noise-cancelling headphones review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 24 Jan 2012 13:00:00 EST. Following the release of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/21/klipsch-gallery-g-17-air-soundbar-review/">Gallery G-17 Airplay speaker</a> is the RoomGroove Air, Stadium and Console AirPlay speakers:</div><ul> <li> The RoomGroove Air packs dual 1-inch soft-textile tweeters with Round Tractrix horns and 2.5-inch woofers promises big sound from its small package. It'll be available in fall of 2012, but we don't have any word on pricing yet.</li> <li> The Stadium (pictured) is a 2.1 tabletop speaker that's packing dual 1-inch titanium LTS tweeters with beefier 3-inch midrange woofers and a dual 5.25-inch subwoofer to make sure whatever table this speaker winds up on, it'll shake in tune to your <em>Yacht Rock</em> playlist du jour and also arrives in fall.</li> <li> The Console is a 2.1 audio system that doubles as furniture, capable of running HDMI, Optical-in and USB inputs as well as AirPlay. It's packing dual Tractrix Horns with a 1.75-inch titanium dome, high compression LTS drivers and 10-inch folded cone Cerametallic woofers. It can also double as a center speaker for a beefy home cinema system, but still thy beating heart people, it's not coming out until winter of 2012.</li></ul><div> We've got more details after the break, neatly organized into a press release for your edification.<br /> <br /> <strong>Update:</strong> We just met with Klipsch and got brief look at the the Console 2.1 and as well as a mock-up of what the Stadium. Truth be told, Klipsch admits that they're undoubtedly aimed at high-rollers, rocking respective estimated price points of about $7,000 and over $1,500 -- be still, our hearts yet again. The Stadium takes up nearly the same footprint of the G-17 Air, but in all, it's almost double the size.<br /> <br /> The Console 2.1 cabinet-system was partly functional, and although we couldn't gauge sound quality, we can say that it was exceptionally <em>loud</em> against the busy show floor. Notably, the massive system manages to pump out all that volume without much in the way of vibrations -- so much so that the water inside of a wine glass place on its top remained impressively placid. You can see for yourself in the video past the break. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-stadium-and-console-2-1-airplay-speaker-systems-eyes-on/">Klipsch Stadium and Console 2.1 Airplay speaker systems (eyes-on)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-stadium-and-console-2-1-airplay-speaker-systems-eyes-on/#4739044"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc0086_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-stadium-and-console-2-1-airplay-speaker-systems-eyes-on/#4739045"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc0087-1326250050_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-stadium-and-console-2-1-airplay-speaker-systems-eyes-on/#4739046"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc0088-1326250054_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-stadium-and-console-2-1-airplay-speaker-systems-eyes-on/#4739047"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc0089-1326250059_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-stadium-and-console-2-1-airplay-speaker-systems-eyes-on/#4739048"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc0090-1326250063_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> <br /> <em>Joe Pollicino contributed to this report.</em></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/klipsch-airplay-speakers-ces/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Klipsch planning to 'rule the air' at CES (update: eyes-on, video and pricing)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/klipsch-airplay-speakers-ces/">Klipsch planning to 'rule the air' at CES (update: eyes-on, video and pricing)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 09 Jan 2012 13:40:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">
		If you'll recall, it was back at CES when we realized that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/airplay/">AirPlay</a> devices would be "<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/08/apple-airplay-devices-set-to-explode-in-2011/">set to explode</a>" by this year's end -- and it's certainly proving true as a storm of new speakers have hit the market over the last few months. Of all the speakers we'd spotted on the show floor, however, a select bunch <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/06/klipsch-unveils-airplay-enabled-gallery-studio-forum-and-arena/">AirPlay-enabled speakerbar prototypes</a> from Klipsch's newly unveiled Gallery lineup of high-performance home audio wares really perked our ears -- and widened our pupils. It wouldn't be until July that the smallest version, known then as the $400 Gallery Studio, would be officially unveiled as the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/20/klipschs-airplay-enabled-gallery-g-17-air-pleases-ears-sans-cor/">Gallery G-17 Air</a>, priced at a spendier $530.<br />
		<br />
		Now, nearly four months later the G-17 is finally hitting retail (albeit with a $20 price increase), aimed just a notch below $600 options like <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/05/bowers-and-wilkins-zeppelin-air-review/">B&amp;W's Zeppelin Air</a>, but well above others including <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/27/ihome-iw1-airplay-wirless-audio-system-finally-available-now-ag/">iHome's $300 iW1</a>. We've been testing a model G-17 Air for a few days now, so join us past break to find out whether its beauty is deeper than its insanely glossy black shell. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-gallery-g-17-air-review/">Klipsch Gallery G-17 Air soundbar review</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-gallery-g-17-air-review/#4622756"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/11/dsc0146-1321633782_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-gallery-g-17-air-review/#4622757"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/11/dsc0147-1321633783_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-gallery-g-17-air-review/#4622758"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/11/dsc0149-1321633784_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-gallery-g-17-air-review/#4622759"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/11/dsc0151-1321633785_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-gallery-g-17-air-review/#4622760"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/11/dsc0152-1321633786_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div>

We knew good and well Klipsch was <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/20/exclusive-klipsch-introduces-iphone-friendly-image-x10i-and-bla/">dabbling</a> in all sorts of various paint schemes <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/25/klipsch-headquarters-walkthrough-behind-the-scenes-and-between/">when we toured</a> its Indiana-based headquarters in the winter of 2009, and now it seems that one of those prototypes has found a place in the market. The company has just launched the Lou Reed X10i Signature Edition headphones ("coming soon"), a glittered-up version of the X10i that we already feel <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/01/klipsch-image-x10i-iphone-friendly-earbud-impressions/">head over heels</a> in love with. Outside of aesthetics, there's nothing significant changing here, but the extra $50 will net you a purple inline remote (compatible with Apple's iOS devices), a screened Lou Reed autograph, a 360-degree mic and a sense of gratification that could only be matched by being elected president of the free world. Or, something like that. Hit the source for a full helping of specifications, but it's on you to find a safe and legal method for acquiring $399.95. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-lou-reed-x10i-signature-edition-headphones/">Klipsch Lou Reed X10i Signature Edition headphones</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-lou-reed-x10i-signature-edition-headphones/#4610611"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/11/lou-reed-image-x10i-headphones-9_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-lou-reed-x10i-signature-edition-headphones/#4610612"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/11/lou-reed-image-x10i-headphones-8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-lou-reed-x10i-signature-edition-headphones/#4610613"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/11/lou-reed-image-x10i-headphones-7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-lou-reed-x10i-signature-edition-headphones/#4610614"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/11/lou-reed-image-x10i-headphones-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-lou-reed-x10i-signature-edition-headphones/#4610615"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/11/lou-reed-image-x10i-headphones-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/15/klipsch-launches-lou-reed-x10i-signature-edition-headphones-viv/">Klipsch launches Lou Reed X10i Signature Edition headphones, vivaciousness follows</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 15 Nov 2011 09:49:00 EST. We almost don't want to talk about our tablets and phones this week, just because one or two show-stoppers <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/09/transformer-prime-detailed-10-inch-super-ips-display-12-hour/">here</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/07/barnes-and-nobles-nook-tablet-gets-real-we-go-hands-on-video/">there</a> have made pretty much everything we own seem wholly inadequate. So we'll tell you about the stuff we won't be trading in anytime soon. For James, that means a good pair of over-ear headphones, for Darren it's a $6,000 camera and for Daniel it's a 40GB iPod with "Dan Cooper is awesome" engraved on the back (19 year-olds, <em>right</em>?). No complaints this time: just a trio of Engadget editors sounding off on what's been worth it.</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/10/irl-nikon-d3s-ipod-classic-and-klipschs-image-one-headphones/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>IRL: Nikon D3S, iPod 4G and Klipsch's Image One headphones</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/10/irl-nikon-d3s-ipod-classic-and-klipschs-image-one-headphones/">IRL: Nikon D3S, iPod 4G and Klipsch's Image One headphones</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 10 Nov 2011 14:00:00 EST. No, that's not some oversized <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/18/asus-updates-xtion-pro-motion-sensor-makes-it-even-more-like-ki/">Kinect KIRF</a>. What you're looking at is Klipsch's latest soundbar, the Gallery G-17 Air. Seem familiar? If you'll recall, back at CES it was known as the Gallery Studio -- the smallest of three <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/airplay/">AirPlay</a>-enabled speaker systems the company let us <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/06/klipsch-unveils-airplay-enabled-gallery-studio-forum-and-arena/">demo at CES</a>. Although not <em>totally</em> new, its full specs have been revealed and its price re-vamped from $400 to a slightly spendier $530. The bi-amplified stereo rig features four individually powered drivers that aim to deliver full-range sound via two Tractrix-horned .75-inch tweeters (10 watts each), and dual 2.5-inch, 20 watt woofers. Although you'll probably be streaming music over WiFi from iDevices or iTunes, the unit's equipped with USB and 3.5mm inputs should you ever want to plug-in directly or juice-up your battery. There's an ultra-svelte grill-cloth magnetically attached to the front, playback and power buttons on the side, and it also comes with a remote. The system itself sits atop a tempered glass base, but <span style="display: none;"> </span>if space is at premium it can be mounted to a wall. The G-17 is set to release this fall, but if your ears are already tingling you'll find more info in the source link below.</div>

We've been worried about Klipsch's future since <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/07/audiovox-to-buy-klipsch-we-cant-help-but-worry/">Audiovox</a> joined the picture, but it looks like there isn't reason to fret <em>just</em> yet. Remember the company's first on-ear headphones, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/03/klipsch-issues-first-on-ear-headphones-image-s5i-rugged-and-bar/">Image One</a>? Well, Klippy's back for round two evidently; its Mode active <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/noise+canceling/">noise-canceling</a> headphones have quietly popped up on its website with a whopping $350 price tag and a fall 2011 release. The collapsible earcups are padded in plushy leather and house a 40mm mid / low woofer with a 15mm tweeter for silky highs, crunchy mids, thumping lows. Also included are two detachable 3.5mm cables, one of which has an Apple-certified three-button inline remote / mic. Best of all, ANC can be enabled for up to <em>45 hours</em> on a single battery to zone out any bustle around you. We'll have an ears-on with these very soon, but you'll find details now via the source link below.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-mode-active-noise-canceling-headphones/">Klipsch Mode Active Noise-Canceling Headphones</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-mode-active-noise-canceling-headphones/#4289958"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/07/02442866b64ca1e4487b8a42be2833ed.jpg-jpeg-image-2100x2100-pixels---scaled-43-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-mode-active-noise-canceling-headphones/#4289959"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/07/x102442866b64ca1e4487b8a42be2833ed.jpg-jpeg-image-1200x1200-pixels---scaled-75-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-mode-active-noise-canceling-headphones/#4289960"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/07/x202442866b64ca1e4487b8a42be2833ed.jpg-jpeg-image-1200x1200-pixels---scaled-75-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/12/klipsch-mode-noise-canceling-headphones-tweet-highs-woof-lows/">Klipsch Mode noise-canceling headphones tweet highs, woof lows</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 12 Jul 2011 16:47:00 EST. First, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/06/dell-outfits-alienware-m17x-dell-xps-17-with-120hz-3d-hd-screen/">Alienware's M17x</a> got a bit of spit and polish with a new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/sandy+bridge">Sandy Bridge CPU</a> and a 3D display, then the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/23/alienware-m11x-r3-specs-leaked-brings-sandy-bridge-to-your-next/">M11x</a> got Intel's speedy new silicon too. Now, the middle alien child appears to have gotten a similar makeover. Christened the M14x, rumor has it that Alienware's newest portable rig packs an Intel Core i7-2820QM 2.3 GHz CPU, up to a 750GB 7200RPM HDD, 256GB SATA2 or SATA3 SDD, a robust NVIDIA GT555M GPU, LTE or WiMAX connectivity, and your choice of 14-inch screens: either a 1366 x 768 display or a Full HD 1920 x 1080 LCD. Following <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/11/klipsch-speakers-coming-to-alienwares-3d-enabled-m17x-gaming-la/">its big brother's lead</a>, the M14x also rolls with a pair of Klipsch speakers for hi-fi fragging. No word on when this mothership lands, but with those specs, we wouldn't mind making first contact -- would you?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/05/alienwares-m14x-revealed-classic-middle-child-overachiever-no/">Alienware's M14x revealed: classic middle-child overachiever, none of the simmering sibling resentment</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 05 Apr 2011 04:21:00 EST. Altec Lansing <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/15/hp-pavilion-dm4-review/">does it</a>, as does <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/02/toshiba-launches-nb520-and-nb500-netbooks-one-with-harman-kardo/">Harman Kardon</a>. Oh, and lest we forget about <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/01/hp-unleashes-envy-17-3d-hp-envy-14-beats-edition-and-specially/">Beats</a>. We're talking about companies that have gone the extra mile (and paid a certain price) to get their speakers into the shells of laptops, and now the fine folks at Alienware are grabbing a top-tier name of their own: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/25/klipsch-headquarters-walkthrough-behind-the-scenes-and-between/">Klipsch</a>. Despite being <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/07/audiovox-to-buy-klipsch-we-cant-help-but-worry/">snapped up by Audiovox</a> a few months ago, the outfit's powering ahead with an apparent plan for expansion. Today, Alienware's launching its first-ever Klipsch-equipped laptop, the 3D-enabled <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/M17x/">M17x</a>. Not only will buyers find Intel's newest Sandy Bridge CPUs, a 1080p 3D panel, custom lighting controls and an HDMI input, but they'll also be gifted with a set of Klipsch drivers and MaxxAudio 3 software from Waves. Hard to say if the partnership will soon bleed over to even more of Alienware's machines, but all logical signs are pointing to "yes." As for this guy? It'll ship this month starting at $1,499.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/11/klipsch-speakers-coming-to-alienwares-3d-enabled-m17x-gaming-la/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Klipsch speakers coming to Alienware's 3D-enabled M17x gaming laptop</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/11/klipsch-speakers-coming-to-alienwares-3d-enabled-m17x-gaming-la/">Klipsch speakers coming to Alienware's 3D-enabled M17x gaming laptop</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 11 Mar 2011 09:00:00 EST. Although <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/dlna">DLNA</a> may have had a significant head start, the streaming media standard available on more than 9,000 devices is about to be challenged in a very big way by Apple's upstart AirPlay technology. At least it will be if Jordan Watters, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/09/is-bridgeco-the-foundation-for-made-for-airplay-apple-accessor/">BridgeCo</a>'s VP of Sales and Marketing, is to be believed. BridgeCo as you'll recall, is the company that makes the silicon for AirPlay devices -- currently an exclusive arrangement we're told. While Apple may have thrust BridgeCo into the consumer spotlight, this ten year old company has a long history of quietly providing networked media processors and connectivity software to a who's who of audio companies. Here at CES we've already seen <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/07/ihome-iw2-and-iw3-airplay-wireless-speakers-hands-on-sneak-peek/">three speakers from iHome</a>, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/05/bowers-and-wilkins-zeppelin-air-speaker-hands-on/">Zeppelin Air from B&amp;W</a>, and a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/06/klipsch-unveils-airplay-enabled-gallery-studio-forum-and-arena/">trio of speakers</a> from the previously unannounced AirPlay partner Klipsch rolled out. And this is just the beginning. <br />
<br />
According to Jordan Watters, AirPlay devices could ultimately dwarf "made for iPod" audio docks by 2x to 4x. Part of the reason for Jordan's optimism is the fact that so many iOS devices have already been sold and that many audio devices already on the market using BridgeCo chips can add AirPlay functionality via a software update, including the nine receivers just announced from <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/06/denon-and-marantz-airplay-update-finally-released-for-49/">Denon and Marantz</a>. "The ecosystem is already there," he said smiling. And unlike iPod docks which are usually sold at a rate of one per iOS device, Watters sees consumers purchasing multiple AirPlay devices for every iOS device sold in order to enable whole-home distributed audio. In fact, growth could come as a "step function ramp sucking into the market," Jordan enthused. In other words, he expects AirPlay growth to be explosive. We'd chalk up the hyperbolic talk to Jordan's marketing role if it weren't for the abundance of anecdotal evidence supporting his claims here at CES. To start with, the company's modest meeting room was packed with interested manufacturers poking around BridgeCo's AirPlay offering. Jordan's also booked back-to-back-to-back with meetings until the show ends (and into the coming weeks we suspect). But what really convinced us was an all-in-one speaker prototype from a <em>major</em> consumer electronics company that was quickly whisked away before meeting the sensor beneath our D300's lens. If they're involved, well, we expect the rest will follow.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/08/apple-airplay-devices-set-to-explode-in-2011/">Apple AirPlay devices set to explode in 2011</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 08 Jan 2011 18:19:00 EST. It's true. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Audiovox/">Audiovox</a>, a relative no-name in terms of consumer end products in the music industry, has just signed a non-binding term sheet to purchase all of the shares of Klipsch Group and its worldwide subsidiaries. We're told that the transaction is subject to a number of contingencies, "including satisfactory completion of due diligence, negotiation and signing of definitive agreements and requisite approvals," but we can't imagine anything popping up to stop the inevitable. No hard financial terms were revealed, and there's no estimated closing date for the deal. Oddly enough, Klipsch was here at CES <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/06/klipsch-unveils-airplay-enabled-gallery-studio-forum-and-arena/">unveiling</a> a smattering of new products, and Audiovox was also here showing off far, far less interesting gear. We're hoping and praying that Audiovox allows Klipsch to continue working as its own entity rather than swallowing 'em whole and stifling innovation with corporate bureaucracy (similar to how <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/12/editorial-espn-bypasses-corporate-red-tape-with-ipad-and-xbox-3/">Disney lets ESPN run its own show</a>), but we'll be honest -- we're feeling a little uneasy about it. Klipsch is definitely one of our favorite audio companies around, and the last thing we'd want is to see a good company get hit with an undue amount of heavy-handed corporate control. Here's hoping for the best! <br />

Klipsch managed to unveil a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/20/exclusive-klipsch-introduces-iphone-friendly-image-x10i-and-bla/">black-and-white version</a> of its high-end Image X10i earbuds as well as something referred to as a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/05/klipsch-lightspeaker-makes-whole-home-audio-as-simple-as-screwin/">LightSpeaker</a> at last CES, and this year they're doing the inevitable: unveiling a trio of iDevice-friendly sound systems. All a part of the new Gallery series, the Studio, Forum and Arena are all making their debut tonight in Vegas. Each of these units are <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/AirPlay/">AirPlay</a> certified, meaning that each one will wirelessly ingest smooth jams and fusion metal from a nearby iTunes library. The Studio and Forum each have slots along the front edge where you can rest your iPhone / iPod / iPad, while the high-end Arena actually has a 30-pin Dock Connector port as well as a video output. The unit's the company had on display this evening were far from being production quality, but the overall design was nice, if not a touch understated. To remedy that on the Studio, the outfit plans to offer well over a dozen faceplates with various graphics -- if sales are strong, we're told that it could create similar plates for the higher-end siblings.<br />
<br />
To go along with those, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/25/klipsch-headquarters-walkthrough-behind-the-scenes-and-between/">Klipsch</a> also unveiled a trifecta of slim, passive speakers: the G-12, G16, G-28 and G-42. These range from $299 to $599 per speaker, and are obviously aimed at the more affluent crowd. One thing of note -- the backs of these speakers have clever cutouts along the bottom and rear, enabling you to better manage your wires. Yeah, <em>wires</em>. These units definitely aren't wireless, but here's hoping for 2012, right? As for the iPod sound systems? Those are slated to ship in Q2 or Q3 with prices set for $399 (Studio), $599 (Forum) and $799 (Arena).<br />

"Rugged" is one of those terms thrown around pretty loosely by the consumer electronics industry. So when Klipsch, a name that's not exactly synonymous with husky men in the saddle, rolled out a rugged version of its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/10/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-and-impressions/">S4i in-ear speakers</a> under the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/03/klipsch-issues-first-on-ear-headphones-image-s5i-rugged-and-bar/">Image S5i Rugged</a> moniker, well, we just had to put them to the test. But first we had to give these $129.99 'buds a listen... from the very noisy floor of the Messe Berlin convention center. Fortunately, the oval ear tips did an excellent of job of isolating most external sounds, thus allowing us to hear a rich reproduction of lows and mids with a noticeable emphasis on bass. Not a surprise since the Image S5i headphones feature the same acoustic characteristics as the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/10/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-and-impressions/">Image S4i</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/03/klipsch-image-s4-impressions/">Image S4</a> headphones that came before them. <br />
<br />
But what we really wanted to know was how that "moisture-resistant" (not waterproof) Apple-compatible three-button remote / mic would hold-up to a torture test. Fortunately, the Image S5i Rugged managed to keep the music playing <em>and</em> under control even after a generous bath of bottled water. Rugged <em>and</em> classy? Looks like iPod, iPhone, and iPad owners just made a new friend.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/04/klipsch-image-s5i-rugged-in-ear-headphones-earn-our-respect-vid/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Klipsch Image S5i Rugged in-ear headphones earn our respect (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/04/klipsch-image-s5i-rugged-in-ear-headphones-earn-our-respect-vid/">Klipsch Image S5i Rugged in-ear headphones earn our respect (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 04 Sep 2010 10:23:00 EST. It's been awhile since we sashayed through <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Klipsch/">Klipsch</a>'s <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/25/klipsch-headquarters-walkthrough-behind-the-scenes-and-between/">world headquarters</a> back in December of last year, but the company certainly hasn't let off of the pedal. Today at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/IFA/">IFA</a>, it managed to introduce no fewer than three new headphones, including the outfit's very first on-ear set. The Image One was built to bring Klipsch's signature sound to folks who'd prefer cans over 'buds, and it's also amongst the first to have an Apple-centric mic and three-button remote for controlling music playback on iPods, iPads and iPhones. Travelers will be pleased to hear that the ear cups fold flat for portability, but you'll need $149.99 to call 'em yours when they ship this November. Moving on, there's the Image S5i Rugged (shown above) -- essentially, you're looking at the same sound quality we <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/10/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-and-impressions/">lauded</a> last year, but with a rugged slant. These feature the aforesaid three-button remote / mic as well as a "safety case" that touts a built-in flashlight. We're expecting a demonstration of their toughness at IFA tomorrow, but in the meanwhile you can start sacking away $129.99 for their November debut. Finally, the October-bound Image S3 is the company's new low-end set, priced at just $49.99 but still shipping with a trio of oval ear tips, a carrying case and a choice of gray, red, pink or green hues. The full presser is after the break, if you're into that type of thing. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-issues-first-on-ear-headphones-image-s5i-rugged-and-bargain-image-s3-earbuds/">Klipsch issues first on-ear headphones, Image S5i Rugged and bargain Image S3 earbuds</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-issues-first-on-ear-headphones-image-s5i-rugged-and-bargain-image-s3-earbuds/#3329839"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/09/klipsch-image-one-headphones_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-issues-first-on-ear-headphones-image-s5i-rugged-and-bargain-image-s3-earbuds/#3329841"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/09/image-s3-klipsch-headphones_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-issues-first-on-ear-headphones-image-s5i-rugged-and-bargain-image-s3-earbuds/#3329842"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/09/klipsch-image-s5i-rugged_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/03/klipsch-issues-first-on-ear-headphones-image-s5i-rugged-and-bar/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Klipsch issues first on-ear headphones, Image S5i Rugged and bargain Image S3 earbuds</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/03/klipsch-issues-first-on-ear-headphones-image-s5i-rugged-and-bar/">Klipsch issues first on-ear headphones, Image S5i Rugged and bargain Image S3 earbuds</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 03 Sep 2010 17:14:00 EST. We told you <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/20/exclusive-klipsch-introduces-iphone-friendly-image-x10i-and-bla/">they'd be coming</a> (as we discovered <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/25/klipsch-headquarters-walkthrough-behind-the-scenes-and-between/">during our tour</a> of Klipsch's Indianapolis campus), and now those deliciously black / white colored <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/03/klipsch-image-s4-impressions/">Image S4</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/10/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-and-impressions/">Image S4i</a> earbuds are finally making their way out to the general populace. <i>Vann's</i> already has the Image S4 in white up for pre-order, while Apple stores are set to receive their Image S4i (includes an in-line microphone for iPhone yappin') any day now. The former will sell for $79 while the latter demands an extra Jackson, but it's safe to say that either will put Apple's own white earbuds to shame.<br />

We let you in on one of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/25/klipsch-headquarters-walkthrough-behind-the-scenes-and-between/">Klipsch</a>'s little secrets when we<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/20/exclusive-klipsch-introduces-iphone-friendly-image-x10i-and-bla/"> revealed the Image X10i to the world</a> back in December, and now that the company's highest-end iPhone-friendly earbuds will be shipping en masse within a month, we figured we'd grab a set and let you know if they were indeed worth their weight in gold (or just $349.99, really). The X10 has sat atop the company's most recent lineup of earbuds for awhile now, and with the raging success of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/10/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-and-impressions/">S4i</a> came a stellar idea: add the same iPod / iPhone remote to the flagship set of 'buds. The X10i is just that -- a set of X10 earbuds with the iPhone remote that we highlighted in our <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/10/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-and-impressions/">S4i review</a>. Needless to say, the X10i isn't aimed at the budget-minded listener, but we were most curious to see if these really were worth the $250 leap from the aforementioned S4i. Read on to peek our conclusion.<br />

When we <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/25/klipsch-headquarters-walkthrough-behind-the-scenes-and-between/">walked the sound-filled halls</a> of Klipsch's Indianapolis headquarters last month, the company insisted that it was always looking at possible expansions into new markets. Today at CES, it's proving that those words aren't being uttered carelessly. The all-new LightSpeaker is a unique and potentially game-changing device in the whole home audio market, as unlike similar contraptions, this one requires no external wiring or power. The device is designed to fit into normal 5- to 6-inch light recesses, which enables existing homeowners to easily retrofit these into their ceilings and walls. We were granted some hands-on time with the light, and put simply, you just screw it into a conventional fixture, dial up the desired zone on the bundled remote, and listen. A full-range driver sits just beneath the LED light, and it receives signals via a 2.4GHz base station that can be plugged into just about any source. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Klipsch/">Klipsch</a> plans to ship these soon in two main packages: a kit that includes a base station and two LightSpeakers for around $600 and a single LightSpeaker by its lonesome for around $250. The bundled controller allows users to control two zones and two sources, and you can also adjust lighting brightness and volume via the main station or the smaller remote. Each zone can easily support four LightSpeakers, and when we asked if these could withstand the elements, we were told that they'd do fine in a covered patio but probably not within an unshielded pool deck. In other words, some humidity shouldn't be an issue, but you probably wouldn't want 'em to get rained on all night. We also wouldn't be surprised to see a bundle in the future that includes a wireless subwoofer to really round out the audio, but don't say you heard it from us. Peek the gallery for a closer look!<br />

Every time trade shows such as <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ces/">CES</a> and <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/cedia">CEDIA</a> open their doors, the collective masses are flooded with headphone after headphone, speaker after speaker. After awhile, one driver looks just as round as the next, and frankly, you start to take for granted what all goes into bringing the tunes we all dig to our ears, dens and underutilized kitchens. One of the mainstays in the audio industry opened their doors up to us this past weekend, and it didn't take much arm pulling to get us inside. We've generally found the design and sound qualities associated with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Klipsch/">Klipsch</a> gear to be top-shelf, and we've struggled in the past to find too many gripes with the headphones and <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/03/29/klipsch-hd-theater-500-5-1-channel-sound-system-impressions/">sound systems</a> we've had the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/features,klipsch">opportunity to review</a>. Needless to say, we were quite curious to hear about (and see) what all goes into imagining, designing, testing and qualifying the 'buds and speakers that we've enjoyed for so many years, and if you share that same level of curiosity, join us after the break for the full walkthrough (and a few heretofore unreleased secrets, to boot).<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/25/klipsch-headquarters-walkthrough-behind-the-scenes-and-between/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Klipsch headquarters walkthrough: behind the scenes and between the ears</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/25/klipsch-headquarters-walkthrough-behind-the-scenes-and-between/">Klipsch headquarters walkthrough: behind the scenes and between the ears</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 25 Dec 2009 13:59:00 EST. We recently had the opportunity to tour <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Klipsch/">Klipsch</a>'s headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana, and while we're currently working up a walk-through showing off gobs of behind the scenes footage from the design lab and quality assurance facilities, we gathered two particularly juicy tidbits that simply couldn't wait. The outfit informed us that since the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/10/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-and-impressions/">Image S4i earbuds</a> have been such a success, it will soon be adding its three-button iPhone microphone / remote to the top-of-the-line <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/30/klipschs-image-earphones-deemed-worlds-smallest/">Image X10</a>, and as you may expect, the resulting product will go by the name Image X10i. They'll officially debut in the same gold and black motif at CES, and they <i>should</i> ship to consumers in early 2010 for $349 (while the original X10 will remain at $349). The other discovery was that the hot-selling S4i earbuds (which we <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/10/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-and-impressions/">tested out</a> a few months ago) will soon be shipping in a fresh color scheme (black and white, as seen above) and with the same metal tin that the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/03/klipsch-image-s4-impressions/">S4</a> currently ships with. This is actually the first third-party headphone set with an integrated Made for iPhone remote / microphone that Cupertino has agreed to sell in white, and we can safely say that this two-tone look will probably have the Apple zealots drooling. Everything else about the $99 set remains the same as the standard S4i (including the cable material, electronics and price), and while we couldn't confirm, we'd say that chances are high for future color options to sneak out in the S4 / S4i range. Check out the new wares in the gallery below. <br />

Back in the day (or <i>way</i> back, as it were), we recall quite vividly the impression made upon us by <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Klipsch/">Klipsch</a>'s ProMedia v.2-400. It wasn't the cheapest four-piece speaker set for the PC, but compared to the competition at the time, it certainly offered up a sound rivaled only by much higher-end options -- options that were generally tailored for home theater applications. Fast forward to today, and Klipsch is still carrying on the ProMedia line nearly a decade later. The latest set to waltz into our labs are these: the ProMedia 2.1 Wireless. Essentially, these are the exact same ProMedia 2.1 speakers that were released eons ago (in the midst of the Y2K chaos, if you're looking for specifics), but with a wireless twist. Klipsch has integrated 2.4GHz wireless technology into the subwoofer, and it tossed in a USB dongle in order to beam out audio from whatever PC or Mac that you connect it to. Pretty simple, right? Hop on past the break for our two pennies on how this package performed.<br />

Earlier this year, we had the chance to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/03/klipsch-image-s4-impressions/">take a listen</a> at Klipsch's Image S4 in-ear headphones. Even earlier this year, we heard that the same company was looking to push out a set of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/12/so-it-begins-klipsch-scosche-unveil-voiceover-compatible-ipod/">VoiceOver-compatible 'buds</a> that were significantly easier to listen to than Apple's stock alternative. That very device is the Klipsch Image S4i, which is nothing more than an Image S4 with an in-line microphone and 3-button remote. As of now, there still aren't a smorgasbord of options for those on the hunt for a VoiceOver-friendly set of headphones that actually sound decent, so head on past the break for a mostly predictable take on the little guys shown above (and below, for that matter).<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-and-impressions/">Klipsch Image S4i hands-on and impressions</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-and-impressions/#2269072"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/09/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-(1)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-and-impressions/#2269086"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/09/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-(12)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-and-impressions/#2269087"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/09/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-(14)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-and-impressions/#2269088"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/09/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-(18)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-and-impressions/#2269073"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/09/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-(2)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/10/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-and-impressions/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Klipsch Image S4i hands-on and impressions</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/peripherals/" rel="tag">Peripherals</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/10/klipsch-image-s4i-hands-on-and-impressions/">Klipsch Image S4i hands-on and impressions</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 10 Sep 2009 10:04:00 EST. Especially these days, a witty sense of humor and a quarter won't even get you a cup of coffee, but Klipsch is giving funny-makers a shot at some its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/03/klipsch-image-s4-impressions/">S4 headphones</a> and a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/HD+Theater+300/">HD Theater 300</a> speaker setup. That's right -- those snarky remarks you normally give out for free can now score you some gear! Here's the bracket breakdown -- four caption contests will be run (each lasting two weeks) and the winning entry from each caption contest will win a pair of S4 in-ears; and a random entry from the final four will score a HD Theater 300 speaker system. Long odds and lots of competition, so now's the time to break open that war chest of audiophile taunts you've been building up. Full PR release after the break.<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/03/klipsch-rewarding-wisecracks-with-sweet-gear/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Klipsch rewarding wisecracks with sweet gear</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/other-hardware/" rel="tag">Other hardware</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/speakers/" rel="tag">Speakers</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/03/klipsch-rewarding-wisecracks-with-sweet-gear/">Klipsch rewarding wisecracks with sweet gear</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 03 Jun 2009 23:22:00 EST. Apparently, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Klipsch/">Klipsch</a> has decided it's had enough of the notched design motif on Acurus and Aragon amplifiers and has decided to break off the two brands and sell them to Indy Audio Labs. We're hoping for a brighter future for the two lines under their new ownership; it certainly can't get a whole lot worse, as Klipsch ceased production of products wearing the Aragon badge 4 years after buying it from Mondial Designs in 2001. Both no-holds-barred Aragon and the more cost-conscious (but not cheap) Acurus names seem to be in capable hands -- Indy Audio Labs has two former Klipsch employees as its founders who plan to deliver products under the same brand names familiar to crusty audio nuts. Press release after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/13/klipsch-says-goodbye-to-aragon-and-acurus-amplifiers/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Klipsch says goodbye to Aragon and Acurus amplifiers</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/other-hardware/" rel="tag">Other hardware</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/13/klipsch-says-goodbye-to-aragon-and-acurus-amplifiers/">Klipsch says goodbye to Aragon and Acurus amplifiers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 13 May 2009 13:26:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Klipsch/">Klipsch</a> has never really been a company to cater to the low-end, but there's likely never been a time in the outfit's history to better introduce a low<em>er</em>-end pair of earbuds than right now. The Image headphone line, which started in August of 2007 when the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/30/klipschs-image-earphones-deemed-worlds-smallest/">X10s</a> launched at $349, has <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/04/klipsch-image-x5-headphones-are-slightly-bigger-slightly-cheape/">grown</a> a few members since. Today, we're talking a look -- er, a listen, actually -- at the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/11/klipsch-debuts-sub-100-image-s2-s4-in-ear-headphones/">$79 Image S4 in-ear headphones</a>, and while these are far from "cheap," they're definitely in the realm of feasibility for anyone considering a set of 'buds that are marginally more awesome than the stock ones bundled with PMPs these days. Head on past the break for a few impressions.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-image-s4-impressions/">Klipsch Image S4 impressions</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-image-s4-impressions/#1531981"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/05/klipsch-image-s4-heaphones-(1)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-image-s4-impressions/#1531990"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/05/klipsch-image-s4-heaphones-(10)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-image-s4-impressions/#1531991"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/05/klipsch-image-s4-heaphones-(11)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-image-s4-impressions/#1531992"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/05/klipsch-image-s4-heaphones-(12)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-image-s4-impressions/#1531982"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/05/klipsch-image-s4-heaphones-(2)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/03/klipsch-image-s4-impressions/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Klipsch Image S4 impressions</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/03/klipsch-image-s4-impressions/">Klipsch Image S4 impressions</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 03 May 2009 21:33:00 EST. This whole global economic crisis, and its resulting massive loss of jobs got us thinking. We here at Engadget didn't want to stand helplessly by, announcing every new round of misery without giving anything back -- so we decided to take the opportunity to spread a little positivity. We'll be handing out a new gadget every day (except for weekends) to lucky readers until we run out of stuff / companies stop sending things. Today we've got a <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2009/03/29/klipsch-hd-theater-500-5-1-channel-sound-system-impressions/">Klipsch HD Theater 500 5.1 sound system</a>, ready to <a href="http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/hd-theater-500.aspx">rattle the floor</a> of one lucky domicile.<em> </em>Read the rules below (no skimming -- we're omniscient and can tell when you've skimmed) and get commenting! Hooray for free stuff!<br /><br /><em>Huge thanks to <a href="http://www.klipsch.com/default.aspx">Klipsch</a> for providing the gear!</em><br /><em><em><br /><br /></em></em>The rules:<br />
<ul>
    <li><strong>Leave a comment below.</strong> Any comment will do, but if you want to share your proposal for "fixing" the world economy, that'd be sweet too.<br /></li>
    <li><strong>You may only enter this specific giveaway once.</strong> If you enter this giveaway more than once you'll be automatically disqualified, etc. (Yes, we have robots that thoroughly check to ensure fairness.)</li>
    <li><strong>If you enter more than once, only activate one comment.</strong> This is pretty self explanatory. Just be careful and you'll be fine.<strong><br /></strong></li>
    <li><strong>Contest is open to anyone in the 50 States, 18 or older! </strong>Sorry, we don't make this rule (we hate excluding anyone), so be mad at our lawyers and contest laws if you have to be mad.<br /></li>
    <li><strong>Winner will be chosen randomly.</strong> The winner will receive one (1) <a href="http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/hd-theater-500.aspx">Klipsch HD Theater 500 5.1-channel sound system</a>. Approximate retail value is $599.99.<br /></li>
    <li>If you are chosen, you will be notified by email. Winners must respond within three days of the end of the contest. If you do not respond within that period, another winner will be chosen. </li>
    <li><strong>Entries can be submitted until Thursday, April 9th, at 11:59PM ET. </strong>Good luck!</li>

While it may not be using <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/23/elemental-designs-boasts-green-speakers/">Environmentally Friendly Substrate</a> material for its speaker cabinets like Elemental Designs, Klipsch sill has plenty to crow about. First, Klipsch's electrically efficient speakers -- especially the mainstay horn-loaded models -- let you get more dBs per Watt, and because a 3dB difference makes for about double the perceived volume they add up quickly. But we think the real eco-value is in producing a quality product that you won't be dumping into a landfill in a couple of years. Over their lifetime, your speakers might be the most ecologically benevolent piece of gear in your AV setup.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/speakers/" rel="tag">Speakers</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/08/klipsch-touts-its-eco-friendly-ways/">Klipsch touts its eco-friendly ways</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 08 Apr 2009 23:02:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Klipsch/">Klipsch</a> won our hearts over years ago with its ProMedia 4.1 setup, and we're happy to say that the winning formula hasn't been significantly altered in the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/27/klipsch-hd-theater-500-5-1-channel-sound-system-hands-on/">HD Theater 500</a>. Honestly, the satellites presented here look an awful lot like those bundled in with the ProMedia kit, but these <em>do</em> check in with a bit less bulk and a bit more gloss. Upon unboxing the 5.1 system, we were actually pretty astounded by how light each of the speakers were, with even the subwoofer not being painfully heavy. All the small talk aside, we know you're here to see if these suckers are worth your hard-earned dollars -- follow us on past the break for a breakdown of the pros and cons.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/29/klipsch-hd-theater-500-5-1-channel-sound-system-impressions/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Klipsch HD Theater 500 5.1-channel sound system impressions</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/reviews/" rel="tag">Reviews</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/speakers/" rel="tag">Speakers</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/29/klipsch-hd-theater-500-5-1-channel-sound-system-impressions/">Klipsch HD Theater 500 5.1-channel sound system impressions</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 29 Mar 2009 10:49:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Klipsch/">Klipsch</a> stunned the boxed surround sound world back in late January with the announcement of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/26/klipsch-intros-hd-theater-300-500-1000-5-1-speaker-systems/">three relatively affordable 5.1 sound systems</a>. The middle guy (yeah, the HD Theater 500) just started shipping out to the earliest of adopters, and we just so happened to get our set in today. For $599.99 (MSRP), you get four surrounds, a center channel and a powered (100 watt) 8-inch subwoofer. Each satellite is a sealed enclosure finished in a high-gloss piano black, with a 2.5-inch IMG woofer (center channel has two) and a MicroTractrix horn-loaded aluminum dome tweeter (0.75-inches) packed within. We can say with certainty that these drivers are delightfully small, but if you're looking specifics, here goes: the satellites are 6- x 3.6- x 3.85-inches, while the center channel measures in at 3.6- x 9- x 3.85-inches. As for the subbie? 13.9- x 12.5- x 12.5-inches. We're setting this rig up as we speak to give it a listen and report back, but till then, feel free to peruse the unboxing gallery below.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-hd-theater-500-5-1-channel-sound-system-hands-on/">Klipsch HD Theater 500 5.1-channel sound system hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-hd-theater-500-5-1-channel-sound-system-hands-on/#1457110"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/klipsch-hd-theater-500-hands-(1)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-hd-theater-500-5-1-channel-sound-system-hands-on/#1457119"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/klipsch-hd-theater-500-hands-(10)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-hd-theater-500-5-1-channel-sound-system-hands-on/#1457120"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/klipsch-hd-theater-500-hands-(11)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-hd-theater-500-5-1-channel-sound-system-hands-on/#1457121"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/klipsch-hd-theater-500-hands-(12)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/klipsch-hd-theater-500-5-1-channel-sound-system-hands-on/#1457122"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/klipsch-hd-theater-500-hands-(13)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/speakers/" rel="tag">Speakers</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/27/klipsch-hd-theater-500-5-1-channel-sound-system-hands-on/">Klipsch HD Theater 500 5.1-channel sound system hands-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 27 Mar 2009 14:49:00 EST. <div align="left">Klipsch hasn't exactly been catering to more budget-minded customers with its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/30/klipschs-image-earphones-deemed-worlds-smallest/">earphones</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/04/klipsch-image-x5-headphones-are-slightly-bigger-slightly-cheape/">as of late</a>, but that looks to be changing with its new Image S2 and S4 models, which come in at a reasonable $49 and $79, respectively. That'll still get you the same proprietary, oval-shaped ear tips as Klipsch's pricier earphones though, along with a so-called moving coil design with controlled dampening, and a "hot rod" dual magnet motor structure on the S4. The S4 set also comes bundled with a few bonuses like a cleaning tool and a "crush-resistant" aluminum case, while the S2s get stuck with a basic cloth case and a slightly less flashy solid black finish. Look for the S4s to roll out first in April, with the S2s set to follow sometime In July.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.slashgear.com/klipsch-image-s2-s4-headphones-target-bargain-hunters-1137274/">SlashGear</a>]<br /></div>

In a bit of a creative leap, loudspeaker manufacturer <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Klipsch/">Klipsch</a> is launching a marketing campaign that ties in with the (probably soon-to-be <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/26/digital-tv-transition-officially-delayed-until-june-12th/">delayed</a>) DTV transition. We're on board with the catchphrase "A high-def picture demands high-def sound," but let's be clear -- the DTV transition isn't going to bring 24/7 high-def video to all your OTA channels, and it certainly isn't going to mean high-def sound will be filling the airwaves, either. Like we said, though, it's hard to deny the fact that most people aren't aware of how atrocious most TVs sound, or how spending a little money on some new speakers can really increase their enjoyment of their systems. Klipsch is hoping its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/26/klipsch-intros-hd-theater-300-500-1000-5-1-speaker-systems/">HD Theater 300, 500 and 1000</a> systems are an ear- and wallet-opening experience for them. So, are you willing to forgive a bit of a marketing stretch for a good cause, or do you lump this right in with cable companies using the DTV transition to scare customers into digital tiers?<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/speakers/" rel="tag">Speakers</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/03/klipsch-horns-in-on-dtv-transition-madness/">Klipsch horns in on DTV transition madness</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 03 Feb 2009 08:13:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Klipsch/">Klipsch</a> isn't exactly known for hovering around in the bargain bin, but given the current worldwide economic situation, it's pumping out a new trio of 5.1-channel speaker systems that are quite affordable given the specs. Starting at the low-end, we've got the HD Theater 300 (shipping in April), which packs mid-range surrounds (2.5-inch woofers and a 0.75-inch MicroTractrix Horn-loaded textile tweeter in each) alongside a down-firing 6.5-inch subwoofer. Moving on up, there's the HD Theater 500 (shipping in March), which swaps in an aluminum dome tweeter in the surrounds and an 8-inch subbie. The top-end HD Theater 1000 (shipping next month) includes 8.6-inch tall surrounds that support wall mounting and a 10-inch earth shaker. As for prices? Try $399.99, $599.99 and $899.99 in order of mention.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/speakers/" rel="tag">Speakers</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/26/klipsch-intros-hd-theater-300-500-1000-5-1-speaker-systems/">Klipsch intros HD Theater 300 / 500 / 1000 5.1 speaker systems</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 26 Jan 2009 10:23:00 EST. The Klipsch <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/13/klipsch-gives-its-icon-vf-35-vf-36-speakers-to-best-buy/">Icon V speakers</a> were created in cooperation with Best Buy, so of course the big blue and yellow box has them on its shelves, but Audioholics put them to the test to see how they fared in a more real-world setting, away from the car stereos and boomboxes. The review was pretty favorable overall -- in home, the speakers pumped out a lively sound that was a treat for movies and games, but the the horn-loaded tweeters plus a lean midrange weren't exactly a ticket to sonic bliss when listening to music at louder volumes. Still, build quality was solid, and at least you can listen to these in an everyday store (you do stop by <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/BestBuy/">Best Buy</a> every day, right?), so let your own ears be the judge. Just make sure that what jumps off the shelves as "detailed and extended" doesn't wind up "screechy and fatiguing" to you in the long run.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/reviews/" rel="tag">Reviews</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/speakers/" rel="tag">Speakers</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/18/klipschs-icon-v-speakers-get-tested-deliver-on-movies-and-gami/">Klipsch's Icon V speakers get tested, deliver on movies and gaming </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 18 Dec 2008 16:00:00 EST. Klipsch's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/07/klipsch-intros-new-icon-w-series-speakers/">Icon W</a> speakers sure look a treat, but they're on the pricey end of the scale, so Klipsch is offering up the Icon VF-35 and VF-36 speakers to Best Buy shoppers at the lower price points of $750 and $950 per pair, respectively, to set things right. That 1-inch horn-loaded tweeter high on the front baffle somehow reminds us of a Dalek, which makes us wish we could remove the lower speaker grille to show off the trio of mid/bass drivers; but it's fixed (that middle pic is factory-only), so maybe live with the top grill on instead and be contented that those drivers are pushing response down to 41Hz and 36Hz, respectively. As you'd expect from <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Klipsch/">Klipsch</a>, sensitivity comes in at a high 97.5dB, so not a lot of amplifier will be necessary to drive these.<br /><br />[Thanks, Jim]<br /> <br /> <a href="http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/vf-35.aspx">Read</a> - Klipsch Icon VF-35<br /> <a href="http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/vf-36.aspx">Read</a> - Klipsch Icon VF-36<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/speakers/" rel="tag">Speakers</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/13/klipsch-gives-its-icon-vf-35-vf-36-speakers-to-best-buy/">Klipsch gives its Icon VF-35, VF-36 speakers to Best Buy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 13 Sep 2008 03:10:00 EST. As much as you may love the looks (and sound) of Klipsch's flagship Palladium <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/07/klipschs-cedia-booth-tour/">P-39F</a> speakers, the $20,000 price tag on a pair of these beauties puts them safely out of reach for most people. But <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Klipsch/">Klipsch</a> is hoping to give a few more people a taste of the high life with the introduction of six new models in the Palladium line. For your main channels, you can pick between the P-38F and P-37F floorstanding or the P-17B bookshelf speakers. Round out your system with the P-27S surrounds, P-27C center channel and a P-312W subwoofer and you'll find yourself surrounded by good-looking, sculpted "Linia" zebra-grain forms. These new models aren't $20,000 expensive, but they're not cheap either: $12,000 and $8,000 for the P-38F and P-37F, respectively; the P-17B bookshelf will lighten your wallet to the tune of $4,000. For a whole system, factor in $3,500 for a P-27C, $4,000 for the P-27S, and another $4,000 for the P-312W. More pics after the jump.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/13/klipsch-adds-six-models-to-its-palladium-speaker-lineup/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Klipsch adds six models to its Palladium speaker lineup</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/speakers/" rel="tag">Speakers</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/13/klipsch-adds-six-models-to-its-palladium-speaker-lineup/">Klipsch adds six models to its Palladium speaker lineup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 13 Jul 2008 14:02:00 EST. Look at this -- <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/04/martinlogan-speakers-formally-come-to-amazon/">another</a> 2-channel stalwart company that has made the transition to the living room-as-theater world. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Klipsch/">Klipsch</a> has introduced its Icon W speaker lineup, a traditionally designed (and we think, quite handsome) series that fills in the approximately $2,500 price point for a 5-channel (sans sub) setup. Klipsch has always been associated with horn-loaded drivers, and the tradition continues with the 1-inch Tractrix Horn tweeter deployed across the lineup. And here's something we like -- a naming convention that makes sense. The floorstanding WF-34 and WF-35 (pictured) floorstanders add in three of the 4.5-inch and 5.25-inch woofers, respectively. The WC-24 center channel and WS-24 surrounds use two of the 4.5-inch woofers; we'll let you guess the driver compliment on the WB-14 bookshelf model. Look for these at your local Magnolia store, with "per pair" prices from $499 on the WC-24 center to $1,499 on the WF-35.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/speakers/" rel="tag">Speakers</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/07/klipsch-intros-new-icon-w-series-speakers/">Klipsch intros new Icon W series speakers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 07 Jun 2008 11:32:00 EST. Klipsch made tiny waves with their <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/30/klipschs-image-earphones-deemed-worlds-smallest/">original Image headphones</a>, saying they were the world's smallest. We took their word for it and moved along. Now Klipsch has given up on the size game with its new X5 headphones, boasting that the 2mm-bigger X5 headphones are "light but heavy in sound." Anyway, the Image X5 use a full-range armature driver, tuned bass-reflex system, and sport a long-enough 50-inch cable. The housing is electroplated aluminum and Klipsch says the black "tail" reduces cable stress and dampens cable noise. The X5 is iPhone compatible and comes in at a more wallet-friendly (but still slightly alarming) $249 later this month. For that price you'll get the headphones, carrying pouch, airplane adapter, five multi-sized ear gels, and an ear gel cleaning tool.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/04/klipsch-image-x5-headphones-are-slightly-bigger-slightly-cheape/">Klipsch Image X5 headphones are slightly bigger, slightly cheaper</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 04 Jun 2008 11:38:00 EST. Not content with just giving you those <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/18/klipsch-announces-ic-t-series-in-ceiling-speakers/">IC-T drivers</a>, Klipsch has busted out a new duo in its in-ceiling lineup, both of which proudly boast THX Ultra2 certification. Aimed at high-end users looking for high-end surrounds, the KL-7502-THX and KS-7502-THX models both feature dual 5.25-inch Cerametallic woofers that operate in an enclosed tuned-port chamber and at least a single 1-inch titanium tweeter. Better hope your bank account is pretty padded before ordering yourself a set, however, as these buggers are priced at a cool $1,000 apiece.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/speakers/" rel="tag">Speakers</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/18/klipsch-intros-thx-ultra2-in-ceiling-speakers/">Klipsch intros THX Ultra2 in-ceiling speakers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 18 May 2008 08:49:00 EST. Looking to add a few new drivers in order to create a true multi-zone audio setup? Not exactly keen on cramping the style of each guest room with a couple of towers? Fret not, as Klipsch is lookin' out for you (and business owners alike) with its new lineup of IC-T in-ceiling speakers. Up first is the IC-400-T, which features a five-inch cone and a one-inch tweeter mated to a two-inch Tractrix Horn design. As for the IC-650-T, you'll find an awful lot of technological similarities compared to the aforementioned IC-400-T, but it does sport a larger 6.5-inch woofer and 3.5-inch horn; the IC-525-T, as you might expect, simply steps down to a 5.75-inch woofer. Finally, we've got the IC-8T-SW2 subwoofer, which packs an 8-inch woofer and 8-inch drone with polypropylene cones and high temperature voice coils. Price wise, you'll be asked to cough up between $125 and $238 per pair for the full-rangers, while each subbie will set you back a cool $160.
