Sony may have yet to officially announce its upcoming <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/a77">Alpha A77</a> camera, but thanks to a nomination page ahead of this month's Good Design Expo, we can finally get a glimpse of what this imager will pack internally. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/22/sonys-a77-and-a65-spied-in-leaked-image-announcement-to-follow/">Indeed</a>, the A77 will come with a 24 megapixel Exmor CMOS sensor, along with a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/translucent+mirror/">translucent mirror</a> that enables full-time continuous autofocus. Additionally, with the help of its new BIONZ engine, we have a "world's fastest" burst rate of 12 frames per second, which goes nicely alongside the camera's 60p and 24p video recording modes (presumably in AVCHD). What also caught our eyes was this "world's first" XGA OLED electronic viewfinder, while the A55 and A35 come with just LCD versions. Well, only time will tell whether this camera lives up to expectations -- by the sound of it, we'll probably be able to play with one within a few weeks from now.<br />
<br />
[Thanks, pontsuku.]<br />
<br />
<strong>Update: </strong>And just like that, the nomination page has promptly been taken down. Good thing we saved a copy, though -- check it out after the break, if you want to practise your Japanese.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/10/unreleased-sony-alpha-a77-already-nominated-for-good-design-awar/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Unreleased Sony Alpha A77 already nominated for Good Design Award, reveals several new features</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/10/unreleased-sony-alpha-a77-already-nominated-for-good-design-awar/">Unreleased Sony Alpha A77 already nominated for Good Design Award, reveals several new features</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 10 Aug 2011 05:55:00 EST. Two new additions to the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/cyber-shot">Cyber-shot</a> line have apparently leaked, and while they're perhaps not as titillating as some other consumer electronics the company has <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/26/sony-ericsson-xperia-play-playstation-phone-preview/">managed to let slip</a> ahead of their announcement, we'll bring them to you just the same. First is the HX100V, a 30x zoom (27 - 810mm) compact that borrows some features and styling from the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/sony,alpha">Alpha</a> line. It has a 16.2 megapixel backside-illuminated sensor with BIONZ processing capable of recording 1080p video and, supposedly, has GPS in there somewhere too. Next up is the HX9V, pictured below, a rather more <em>compact</em> compact offering what looks to be the same 16 megapixel sensor but tucked behind a smaller, 16x optical zoom lens. It too is said to do 1080p video but, alas, we don't have any clue about price or availability for either.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/28/sony-cyber-shot-hx100v-and-hx9v-models-leaked-superzoomers-in-l/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sony Cyber-shot HX100V and HX9V models leaked, superzoomers in large and small sizes</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/28/sony-cyber-shot-hx100v-and-hx9v-models-leaked-superzoomers-in-l/">Sony Cyber-shot HX100V and HX9V models leaked, superzoomers in large and small sizes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 28 Jan 2011 13:09:00 EST. Sony has revealed a slew of new camcorders touting cutting-edge specs. While three 3D camcorders were announced, the HDR-TD10 is the flagship model and is touted by Sony as the world's first "Double Full HD" 3D consumer camcorder thanks to its double Sony G lenses, double "Exmor R" CMOS image sensors, and double BIONZ image processors. The camera also sports 3.5-inch Xtra Fine LCD 3D touch screen that enables users to view 3D footage sans glasses. Storage-wise, the unit will ship with 64GB of flash memory and hit shelves this April for around $1,500. <br />
<br />
Sony also introduced three Handycam models featuring video projectors built-in to their 3-inch flip-out LCD panels which can display footage in sizes of 60 inches diagonally from 18ft. away. When combined with the integrated stereo speakers with so-called Clear Phase and S-master digital amplifiers, these cameras are designed to provide an ideal playback experience without a TV. The HDR-PJ50V features the largest amount of storage in the series with a 220GB hard drive and will be available this April for $1000. The 32 GB HDR-PJ30V and 16GB HDR-PJ10 will be available slightly later in March for $950 and $700 respectively. <br />
<br />
Rounding out the camcorder news is the HDR-CX700V video enthusiast-level unit, featuring a 16:9 Exmor R CMS image sensor, wide angle Sony G lens, and 60p/24p recording. This unit will ship with 96GB of flash memory and also be available in March for about $1,300. The reality is that these models are just the tip of the Sony Camcorder announcement iceberg though, so for all the details feel free to read the PR below and browse through the gallery. <br />

Well, that was quick. Right after yesterday's surprising <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/14/sony-issues-nex-vg10-first-interchangeable-lens-hd-camcorder/">announcement</a>, Sony flew its yet-to-be-released NEX-VG10 camcorder into London just in time for today's showcase event. Naturally, we had to get our hands on this shiny baby, and boy we were impressed. In case you missed the news, this snazzy device is the world's first consumer HandyCam with interchangeable lens, meaning you can share E-mount lenses with your young <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/nex,sony">NEX DSLRs</a>, or take advantage of the abundant A-mount lenses with the help of an adapter (which will cost you extra, mind you). Likewise, there are also hot and cold shoe mounts on the mic shaft to cater your current camera accessories. Read on for our thoughts on the rest of the camcorder -- we've put together a little sample clip for you at the end as well.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sony-nex-vg10-hd-camcorder-preview/">Sony NEX-VG10 HD camcorder preview</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sony-nex-vg10-hd-camcorder-preview/#3177119"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/sonynexvg102010-07-15-0_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sony-nex-vg10-hd-camcorder-preview/#3177120"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/sonynexvg102010-07-15-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sony-nex-vg10-hd-camcorder-preview/#3177122"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/sonynexvg102010-07-15-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sony-nex-vg10-hd-camcorder-preview/#3177123"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/sonynexvg102010-07-15-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sony-nex-vg10-hd-camcorder-preview/#3177124"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/sonynexvg102010-07-15-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/15/sony-nex-vg10-hd-camcorder-preview/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sony NEX-VG10 HD camcorder preview</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/15/sony-nex-vg10-hd-camcorder-preview/">Sony NEX-VG10 HD camcorder preview</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 15 Jul 2010 20:34:00 EST. As if your Facebook profile doesn't have enough hard evidence that you're completely unfit for any job you might strike up the courage to apply for, here's a thoughtful accessory for producing even more regret-inducing snapshots. Launched tonight alongside <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Sony/">Sony</a>'s <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/06/sonys-cybershot-dsc-tx1-and-dsc-wx1-cameras-boast-pet-friendly/">DSC-WX1 and DSC-TX1</a> Cyber-shot digicams, the $150 IPT-DS1 Party-shot (ships in September) is a newfangled camera dock that pans 360 degrees and tilts 24 degrees, automatically detects faces, adjusts composition and takes photos for you. It's like the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/29/gigapan-epic-100-hands-on-and-review-panorama-style/">GigaPan</a>, sans the whole "useful panorama" aspect. The dock can churn for up to 11 hours on a pair of AA batteries (an optional AC adapter is also available), though at least for now, it only works with the aforesaid TX1 and WX1 models. Also of note, anyone with half an ounce of dignity will likely freak out and leave upon seeing this set up at your next shindig. Just sayin'.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sonys-party-shot-dock-snaps-incriminating-facebook-photos-while-you-drink/">Sony's Party-shot dock snaps incriminating Facebook photos while you drink</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sonys-party-shot-dock-snaps-incriminating-facebook-photos-while-you-drink/#2189771"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/08/party-shot-sony-8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sonys-party-shot-dock-snaps-incriminating-facebook-photos-while-you-drink/#2189772"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/08/party-shot-sony-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sonys-party-shot-dock-snaps-incriminating-facebook-photos-while-you-drink/#2189773"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/08/party-shot-sony-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sonys-party-shot-dock-snaps-incriminating-facebook-photos-while-you-drink/#2189774"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/08/party-shot-sony-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sonys-party-shot-dock-snaps-incriminating-facebook-photos-while-you-drink/#2189775"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/08/party-shot-sony-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/digitalcameras/" rel="tag">Digital Cameras</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/peripherals/" rel="tag">Peripherals</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/06/sonys-party-shot-dock-snaps-incriminating-facebook-photos-while/">Sony's Party-shot dock snaps incriminating Facebook photos while you drink</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 06 Aug 2009 01:02:00 EST. Nothing too remarkable about Sony's latest HD camcorders, but the new 64GB HDR-CX520V and 32GB HDR-CX500V are solid updates nonetheless. Identical apart from the built-in storage, both feature an Exmor R CMOS sensor with BIONZ processing that should offer solid low-light performance and decent 12 megapixel stills, Optical SteadyShot with a new active mode and three-way shake cancellation, Face Touch autofocus that allows you to simply point at faces to prioritize focus in order, and, most notably, 60p output, which'll interpolate your footage to 60 progressive frames per second when connected to a compatible HDTV. Not a bad piece of kit, but they'll cost ya: the HDR-CX500V will run $1,100 and the HDR-CX520V will be $1,300 when they arrive in September.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sony/" rel="tag">Sony</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/camcorders/" rel="tag">Camcorders</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/07/sony-unveils-two-new-1080p-handycams/">Sony unveils two new 1080p Handycams</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 07 Jul 2009 16:33:00 EST. Sony just outed its newest HD camcorder dubbed the HDR-CX12. We're looking at 1,920 x 1,080 AVCHD video from a 10 megapixel ClearVid 1/3.13-inch CMOS sensor, BIONZ image processing, image stabilized Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T 12 optical zoon lens, a 2.7-inch LCD, 5.1 surround sound mic, and Memory Stick PRO Duo (4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo (Mark2) in the box) storage. It's not the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/15/sony-tg3e-tg1-camcorder-review/">world's smallest</a>, but it's only the size of a soda can, AKA, pop can for you mid-westerners. This camcorder also packs Sony's<a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/smile%20shutter"> Smile Shutter</a> tech which automatically throws the shutter (even when in standby) when your subject smiles... or grimaces at having to stand around taking yet another family photo. Smiles can even be prioritized by children or adults. $900 starting tomorrow or early August for brick-n-mortarers.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Update</span>: Another glamor shot and now video of Smile Shutter working on the Japanese CX12 posted after the break.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news-16253-HDR-CX12%2C+a+new+AVCHD+HandyCam+from+Sony+Japan.html">Akihabara News</a>]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/19/sony-hdr-cx12-avchd-camcorder-captures-smiles-and-scowls-for-90/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sony HDR-CX12 AVCHD camcorder captures smiles and scowls for $900</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/recorders/" rel="tag">Recorders</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sony/" rel="tag">Sony</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/19/sony-hdr-cx12-avchd-camcorder-captures-smiles-and-scowls-for-90/">Sony HDR-CX12 AVCHD camcorder captures smiles and scowls for $900</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 19 Jun 2008 01:04:00 EST. <div align="left">While it's likely not the first thing you look for in a photo printer, Sony's addition of an HDMI out to two of its new models will likely help move a few more units, especially among those without an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/02/23/samsung-introduces-l60-and-l85-compacts-gx-1l-dslr/">HDMI-equipped</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/19/details-emerge-on-sonys-dsc-w90-w200-digital-cameras/">camera</a>. Getting that welcome addition is the company's DPP-FP95 and DPP-FP75 models, which are apparently virtually identical except for color and screen size, with the former boasting a 3.6-inch LCD and the latter packing a slightly smaller 3.2-inch display. Otherwise, you can expect support for Sony's trademark <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=BIONZ+">BIONZ</a> technology on each, along with support for wireless transfers to a PC with the addition of a Bluetooth dongle. No word on pricing or availability just yet though.<br /></div>

That's right, we've got 'em -- catalog shots for Sony's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/19/sony-goes-pma-crazy-planning-seven-more-cybershots/">2007</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/19/sonys-cybershot-dsc-w80-their-latest-7-2-megapixel-camera/">Cybershot</a> line-up of digital cameras. Go ahead, check the new T20HDPR, T100, T20, H9, H7, G1 (pictured), W200, and W90 Cybershots -- you won't be sorry. All the new cams bring Sony's Super SteadyShot image stabilization and HD output to the show in addition to a hot mix of features spread out across the line; these include such notables as 802.11b/g WiFi with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/dlna">DLNA</a> support, 2GB on-board memory for music playback, a 3-inch tilt-screen LCD, 3.5-inch (yes, 3.5-inch!) LCD, a couple of 15x optical zooms, face-detection technology, and BIONZ image processing -- good to know. Judging by the pics, we can expect a formal, pre-PMA show announcement from Sony on 27 February.
