While certification and compatibility testing is usually the kind of thing we only consider when something doesn't work, it's always good to know this on someone's mind. Any recent Blu-ray compatibility complaints? Let the folks at BluFocus know on their website.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/14/blufocus-gets-bda-official-stamp-as-the-first-u-s-movie-player/">BluFocus gets BDA official stamp as the first U.S. movie player testing center</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 14 Oct 2009 15:53:00 EST. It's a new year and <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/netblender">NetBlender</a> has a new change of gear, pairing with BluFocus to bring last year's <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/bdtouch">BD Touch</a> software -- and its BD-Live enabled Blu-ray player to iPhone / iPod Touch connections -- up to version 2.0, featuring crossplatform capability with other WiFi enabled handhelds like Blackberry, Android and Palm Pre. Now, the quality assurance specialists are offering up two more critical certifications: THX and BD-Java. What does this mean for you? Hopefully nothing that you can tell, but it's not like we're complaining about one more layer of scrutiny before a flick hits the open market.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/16/blufocus-beefs-up-blu-ray-control-labs-with-bd-j-thx-certifica/">BluFocus beefs up Blu-ray control labs with BD-J / THX certification</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 16 Oct 2008 01:23:00 EST. Barely a month after Microsoft revealed the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/13/microsoft-unveils-xbox-360-hd-dvd-emulator-hopes-to-speed-up-de/">Xbox 360 HD DVD Emulator</a> in hopes of speeding up development of HDi, we're seeing a new company emerge with bolstering Blu-ray Disc quality as its top priority. Of course, anyone <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/21/terminator-3-rise-of-the-machines-also-being-replaced-by-warner/">paying attention</a> over the past few weeks would realize that something like this is <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/20/warner-sets-up-hotline-to-replace-potter-hd-dvds-with-blu-ray-di/">sorely overdue</a>. Reportedly, BluFocus is already working with a number of studios in order to ensure that BD-J / BD Live functionality is properly implemented and that discs arrive to end-users sans issues. The company (accurately) points out that mastering Blu-ray titles is a much more involved process than mastering a vanilla DVD, and considering just how much interactivity is being mixed in, there's a lot more room for error than in days past. Notably, we're not told exactly which studios BluFocus is currently working with, but here's to hoping we find fewer <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/20/blade-runner-blu-ray-complete-edition-arriving-sans-workprint-di/">reasons</a> to plead for replacement discs in the future.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=862">Blu-ray</a>, image courtesy of <a href="http://www.dailygame.net/images/misc/DisneyBD/CARS-BDJ_5.jpg">DailyGame</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/20/blufocus-working-with-studios-to-ensure-blu-ray-disc-quality/">BluFocus working with studios to ensure Blu-ray disc quality</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 20 Jan 2008 13:04:00 EST.
