Our tipsters and posters on <i>XDA-Developers</i> have reported receiving the rollout OTA, and for those interested -- it apparently does not affect the status of rooted devices. Start mashing that check update button and let us know how Ice Cream Sandwich feels on your dockable slates.<br /><br /><strong>Update</strong>: Outside the land of the free and the home of the Daytona 500? You may still be in luck, we're hearing it's out in Canada, ASUS' UK Twitter account confirmed today's the day across the pond, plus ASUS gave the good news to the land down under via Facebook. Check the company's Campus Life blog for a list of changes.<br /><br />[Thanks, James, Rob &amp; Udupa]

That's what ASUS has been feeding those of you who choose to brazenly call the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/18/asus-eee-pad-transformer-uk-edition-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">OG Transformer</a> your slate of preference. In the past couple of months we were told to expect the ICS refresh in "<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/12/ice-cream-sandwich-to-hit-eee-pad-transformer-in-february-says/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">early February</a>," before quickly slipping <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/21/ice-cream-sandwich-update-for-original-transformer-coming/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">a couple of weeks</a>. Needless to say, that time has passed and although the update was said to be under the G-Men microscope <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/16/asus-eee-pad-transformers-ics-update-currently-awaiting-google/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">waiting for approval</a>, ASUS is bearing bad news again. Via its Singapore Facebook page, the outfit <em>now</em> says the TF101 tab will be ready to taste the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">latest Android goodie</a> "within the Feb / March 2012 period." We've just inched over the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/21/ice-cream-sandwich-update-for-original-transformer-coming/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">mid-February deadline</a> last offered up by the company and this new, <em>vaguer</em> release date arrives from ASUS's Singapore arm. The Ice Cream Sandwich-flavored refresh will be sent over-the-air; that is, when it finally arrives on the keyboard-courting slab.</p>

We've heard that it would be inbound sometime in <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/12/ice-cream-sandwich-to-hit-eee-pad-transformer-in-february-says/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">February</a>, but there's still a slight possibility that it'll get here even sooner. On its North American Facebook page, ASUS responded to a curious user, mentioning that it's in the process of getting Google's official stamp of approval. Once this is complete, ASUS will click the big red button and commence pushing Android 4.0 out to the tablet. So hang tight, folks, the wait's almost over.

Eagerly awaiting that sweet <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/08/eee-pad-transformer-ice-cream-sandwich-update/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Ice Cream Sandwich update</a> for your original <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/EeePadTransformer/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Eee Pad Transformer?</a> Keep waiting. Asus recently told Android Police that the classic Transforming tablet wouldn't be getting its ICS update until early February. The statement came shortly after a mix up on Asus' Singapore Facebook page that mistakenly claimed the update was arriving this week. Bummer? For sure, but at least you'll get to practice the gadget lover's most valued virtue: patience.

	ASUS' <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/EeePadTransformer/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Eee Pad Transformer</a> is about to get a healthy scoop of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/IceCreamSandwich/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Ice Cream Sandwich</a>. The company's UK branch confirmed the news today on its Facebook page, announcing that its original tablet-netbook hybrid device will make the jump to Android 4.0 sometime after January 12th. That date, as you may recall, is when the Transformer Prime is <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/03/ice-cream-sandwich-coming-to-the-transformer-prime-january-12th/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">slated to receive the update</a>, though ASUS has yet to confirm a specific date for the predecessor's update, saying only that it'll roll out "ASAP." As always, we'll be sure to let you know when we hear more.</div>

Were you one of the eager beavers who pre-ordered ASUS' new superslate, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/asus-eee-pad-transformer-prime-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Transformer Prime</a>, from Amazon? It turns out, demand for the tablet was so great that it's outstripped the retailer's supply, so Bezos' business is apparently canceling orders placed on or after November 22nd and issuing refunds. Sad news for those who had their hearts set on getting the Prime this holiday season, but maybe it's a blessing in disguise -- the delay gives you the opportunity to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/acer-riding-shotgun-on-quad-core-bandwagon-confirms-tegra-3-tab/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">size up the competition</a> before taking the quad-core plunge.<br />

We're getting restless waiting for the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/transformerprime?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Transformer Prime</a>, which is why we'll cling to the meagerest gossip about its performance. Speaking of which, a couple of Asus Eee Pad TF201 devices have cropped up on the AnTuTu benchmarking app, parading scores that apparently crown them lords of the Android mountain. The graph shows a standard 1.4GHz tablet, but the highest result actually purports to come from a Transformer Prime clocked at 1.6GHz, which achieved 12872. By comparison, the top <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/tf101/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Transformer TF101</a> score is just 7596. Benchmarks are hard to verify and even harder to translate into real-world talent, but at least our <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/kal-el/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Kal-El</a> hunger has been sated for a while. Nope, there it is again.<br />

You've seen it <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/26/asus-transformer-prime-shots-leak-out-apes-the-tao-of-zenbook-d/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">in the wild</a> and even in the hands of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/19/asus-jonney-shih-unveils-transformer-2-at-asiad/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">ASUS honcho Jonney Shih</a> at AsiaD. Now the tablet set to continue the Eee Pad Transformer's legacy has reared its 10-inch face at the FCC. Considering the Prime's leaked <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/31/asus-eee-pad-plans-transformer-prime-landing-november-9th-two/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">November 9th launch date</a>, it's no shock to see the tablet now surfacing at the Commission with confidentiality agreements in tow. Most of the slate's internal goods are hidden behind that wall of secrecy, but we can confirm the <em>de rigeur</em> presence of WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities. Shih's already dished out some of this quad-core tab's specs, so we know to expect a mini-HDMI port, 14.5-hour battery, SD card slot and a destined <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/31/asus-says-transformer-prime-will-arrive-on-honeycomb-ics-coming/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Ice Cream Sandwich OS</a>. The only remaining question is whether this second coming will pack any wireless operator-friendly frequencies. We'll keep you posted on any new developments, but in the meantime, feel free to traverse the spectrum tests at the source.

The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/19/asus-jonney-shih-unveils-transformer-2-at-asiad/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Transformer Prime</a>, with its quad-core silicon and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/31/asus-says-transformer-prime-will-arrive-on-honeycomb-ics-coming/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">tasty OS</a>, has rightfully garnered much attention lately. A PowerPoint deck detailing ASUS' Q3 earnings now gives us a peek at its Eee Pad strategy -- confirming the aforementioned Prime's November 9th release date, while also promising two more bot-powered slates in the first quarter of 2012. Of course, ASUS isn't putting all of its eggs in the Android basket, as the same slide reveals that the Taiwanese firm will be getting its first two <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/13/windows-8-for-tablets-hands-on-preview/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Windows 8 tablets</a> to market by this time next year. So it seems that there will be an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/EeePad/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Eee Pad</a> for all, whether you're from Redmond or Mountain View. No need to shove, fellas, there's room at ASUS' tablet table for everybody.

	Well, we already <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/20/asus-says-eee-pad-transformer-tablet-will-get-ics-upgrade-som/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">knew</a> the original Transformer would be getting an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/IceCreamSandwich/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Ice Cream Sandwich</a> upgrade sometime in the near future, and now ASUS Germany has confirmed that the quad-cored <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/19/asus-jonney-shih-unveils-transformer-2-at-asiad/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Prime</a> and the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/eee+pad+slider/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Eee Pad Slider</a> will also get a taste of Android's latest OS. No semblance of a <em>datum</em> for release just yet, but the triumvirate of Transformers will join the upgrade queue behind ASUS' other Android offering, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/19/asus-jonney-shih-padfone-will-ship-in-q1-2012-with-ice-cream-s/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Padfone</a>.</p>

Who's ready for a little gadget pr0n? ASUS head honcho Jonney Shih gave AsiaD attendees a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/19/asus-jonney-shih-unveils-transformer-2-at-asiad/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">first peek</a> at the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/21/transformer-prime-gets-official-landing-page-shows-mostly-bezel/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Transformer's successor</a> just last week. Apart from that distant, dais-based reveal, we now have in the wild shots of the tab to focus our tech lust on. The leaked images, which have since been pulled from the Chinese site that hosted them, show off several angles of the quad-core Prime, its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/21/asus-zenbook-ux31-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Zenbook-like</a> aluminum finish and accompanying dock. Unfortunately, the lone lockscreen shot on offer's not giving us any taste of the potential <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/19/asus-jonney-shih-android-4-0-coming-to-tablets-by-years-end/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Ice Cream Sandwich OS</a> lurking beneath. This note-taking app quietly debuted on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/18/asus-eee-pad-transformer-uk-edition-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Eee Pad Transformer</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ASUS+Eee+Pad+Slider/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Slider</a> earlier this month, when ASUS rolled out an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/18/asus-eee-pad-transformer-uk-edition-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">OTA update</a> to Android 3.2.1, but the company has now provided substantially more details on the feature, which promises to "revolutionize the way you take notes in class." With SuperNote onboard, students can write or scribble using either the keyboard or their own fingers. That isn't exactly enthralling, in and of itself, but what's cool is the fact that SuperNote will convert each hand-drawn item into an image, allowing users to seamlessly modify or delete their own characters as if they were typed text. The tool also makes it easy to insert graphs or charts, thanks to an "Add Annotation" option that integrates diagrams directly into your lecture notes. And, perhaps best of all, the app will even let you insert photos, meaning you can just take a shot of your professor's blackboard and worry about understanding it later. Intrigued? Check out a demo video, after the break.</div>

We've already gotten some information about <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/19/google-confirms-nexus-s-will-get-ice-cream-sandwich-for-real/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">which phones</a> will be getting the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/icecreamsandwich?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Ice Cream Sandwich</a> update <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/19/motorola-razr-to-get-updated-to-ice-cream-sandwich-in-early-2012/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">and when</a>, and we're now starting to get some official word on tablet upgrades as well. Speaking with <em>Pocket-lint</em>, an ASUS rep said that the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/eeepadtransformer?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Eee Pad Transformer</a> "will be getting [the] update to ICS," but that the company "can't provide a schedule at this stage." Still no word from other Honeycomb tablet manufacturers, unfortunately, but we'll keep you posted. Of course, this also leads us to believe that the freshly-unveiled <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/19/asus-jonney-shih-unveils-transformer-2-at-asiad/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Transformer Prime</a> will likely have Android 4.0 right from the factory, but we'll have to wait (presumably, anyway) until November 9th to know for sure.

Titled "The next Transformation," the clip is pretty light on details, though the mysterious device does make a brief appearance toward the end, sporting a design similar to what we saw last week, with ASUS' <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/11/asus-zenbook-ux21-and-ux31-headed-to-the-us-october-12-starting/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Zenbook</a> lineup. No word yet on whether the forthcoming Transformer will be powered by NVIDIA's quad-core Kal El, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/02/asus-next-gen-eee-pad-transformer-to-pack-nvidias-quad-core-ka/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">as rumored</a>, but you can see the teaser for yourself after the break.<br />

We know you've got questions, and if you're brave enough to ask the world for answers, here's the outlet to do so. This week's <a href="http://ask.engadget.com/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Ask Engadget</a> inquiry is coming to us from Pete, who reckons a tablet + keyboard combo will be best for his future note-taking. If you're looking to send in an inquiry of your own, drop us a line at <strong><em>ask [at] engadget [dawt] com</em></strong>.<br />
<blockquote>
	<p>
		<em>"I will be attending college next year and figured that getting a tablet + keyboard combination to take to class instead of a netbook or small laptop would be a better idea. I was looking into getting the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer, but my grandparents gave me an iPad 2 as a graduation present. A friend of mine is considering getting the Transformer, but doesn't want to pay $150 for a keyboard dock. Both of us will be using our tablets for essentially the same purpose and we were both wondering what the best wireless keyboard was for a tablet. Thanks!"</em></p>
</blockquote>
We've definitely tested our fair share of tablet-focused keyboards, but none of 'em have actually struck us as ideal. The newly-released Lenovo Folio case is a gem, but alas, only functions with the ThinkPad Tablet. So, bright minds -- any ideas for Pete and his pal? Drop 'em in comments below.

Earlier this year, NVIDIA teased us all with the promise of its forthcoming <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/02/nvidia-kal-el-development-platform-hands-on-video/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Kal-El SoC</a>, indicating an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/15/nvidia-announces-quad-core-kal-el-soc-promises-it-in-tablets-by/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">August debut</a>. Well, we're currently in the thick of that hot and hazy month with no clear sign of an incoming quad-core tablet, but certainly more release gossip. According to <em>Fudzilla</em>, multiple sources have confirmed <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/02/asus-next-gen-eee-pad-transformer-to-pack-nvidias-quad-core-ka/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+weblogsinc%2Fengadget+%28Engadget%29?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">ASUS' next Eee Pad Transformer</a> will indeed be first in line to pack four cores, lending credence to Chairman Jonney Shih's claims the tab would be "impressive." Concrete launch details for the slate have yet to be announced, but if Shih's pre-CES timeline pans out, you'll only have four long months to wait for a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/29/nvidias-quad-core-kal-el-used-to-demo-next-gen-mobile-graphics/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Glow Ball</a> hands-on.

	ASUS hasn't really had to twist consumers' wallet-carrying wrists to get its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/18/asus-eee-pad-transformer-uk-edition-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Eee Pad Transformer</a> off retailers' shelves and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/06/asus-eee-pad-transformer-delays-due-to-demand-not-component-sh/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">into homes</a> -- the tablet practically <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/26/asus-eee-pad-transformer-goes-on-sale-in-us-immediately-sells-o/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">walks itself</a>. Which makes the company's latest attempt at viral marketing come off as more of an exercise in unnecessary bragging, than a straight, feature-touting webmercial. The video, made for the hardware maker's college-focused Campus Life website, walks viewers through a brief description of the Gorilla Glass coating that gives the Honeycomb-based tab its damage-resistant properties, before putting the slate through a series of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/29/dell-streaks-gorilla-glass-screen-torture-tested-for-your-amus/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">stress tests</a>. While we've always been told sticks and stones would break <em>our</em> bones, apparently keys, Canadian change and screws won't harm the Transformer. The sole chink in this popular pad's ion exchanging armor? Archery, of course.</div>

<p> <em>Welcome to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/backtoschool2011?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Engadget's Back to School guide</a>! We know that this time of year can be pretty annoying and stressful for everyone, so we're here to help out with the heartbreaking process of gadget buying for the school-aged crowd. Today, we're leaning back with our tablets -- and you can head to the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/backtoschool2011/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Back to School hub</a> to see the rest of the product guides as they're added throughout the month. Be sure to keep checking back -- at the end of the month we'll be <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/02/engadgets-back-to-school-2011-sweepstakes-were-giving-away-3/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">giving away</a> a ton of the gear featured in our guides -- and hit up the hub page <a href="http://www.engadget.com/backtoschool2011?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">right here</a>!<br /> </em></p><div style="text-align: center;"> <br /> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/15/engadgets-back-to-school-guide-2011-tablets/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/08/2011-08-15-btstabs-1313419162.jpg" /></a></div><br /><p> There are certain back to school purchases we could never talk you out of. A laptop? Vital. A smartphone? Highly recommended. A printer? Necessary -- if you're the kind of person who finishes papers minutes with minutes to spare, leaving no time to swing by the computer lab on the way to class. But a tablet? We'll be honest: we can't think of a good reason why you <em>need</em> one, but we can more than sympathize if you're dead-set. We've picked a few noteworthy choices for each budget, though if you're <em>really</em> lucky you'll win one of 15 <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/01/samsung-galaxy-tab-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Samsung Galaxy Tabs</a> and won't have to pay a dime. We feel like if you're going to buy an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/18/asus-eee-pad-transformer-uk-edition-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Eee Pad Transformer</a>, you may as well spring for the $150 docking station -- you know, the thing that makes the tablet so noteworthy. And we don't need to remind you it also happens to be a solid value proposition: the dock brings not just a full keyboard, but two USB ports, an SD card reader, and up to seven hours of extended battery life. There must be some people content with just the slate, though, because ASUS is rolling out a trio of accessories that offer pieces of the docking station's functionality. Head on over to Amazon Germany and you'll find individual USB and SD adapters for &euro;19 ($27) a pop. And though it's not listed with the adapters, <em>NetbookNews</em> also spotted a &euro;29 ($41) stand with a USB port, SD slot, and headphone jack. Before you get too excited, though, Amazon is saying the adapters will ship one to three months from now, which leaves you quite a bit of time to save up for the full keyboard dock. Just saying, folks.<br />
