Barreling their way to 100 3D titles this week, Hollywood adds Yogi Bear to the list of 3D Blu-ray titles, it is the 7th so far this year so there's a long way to go. With that being our title of the week it shouldn't be that hard to figure out that there isn't much going on in the world of Blu-ray releases this week. In fact the only other title that caught our attention was from Sony, with the classic Stand By Me.

Home Media fans have been waiting a long time to finally see last year's Academy Award winning titles and the first big one we're looking forward to post-award show is finally here; The Fighter. On the other end of the spectrum, but still gives us good memories of a Summer wasted watching the same movie over and over again on HBO, is BMX Bandits. Another that might be worth a look is one we haven't heard of until just now, but with Matt Daemon in front of the camera and Clint Eastwood behind it, Hereafter should be worthy of two hours of your free time.

Blu-ray releases on March 8th 2011

It might be post-Oscar season, when most are anticipating Academy Award winning titles on Blu-ray, like Inside Job, but we can't make the best documentary winner our pick of the week when Jackass 3 is on the list. Sure it is just plain silly and absolutely ridiculous, but what can we say, we enjoy a good laugh. We do want to watch Inside Job, but it isn't even our documentary of the week, as we love football more than we like to learn about the greatest economic crisis of our time -- besides, after you've seen Frontline's Inside the Meltdown, how much more can there be to know?

We've been looking forward to the first HD release of Disney's classic Bambi and its Second Screen app for some time, but after watching the Academy Awards presentation we've pushed something else to the top of our list. 127 Hours didn't actually win any awards on Sunday night, but it was nominated enough to make us take notice and add it to our queue -- not at the top though. Also of interest this week is two more 3D titles, but we have to admit we only find these two interesting because there aren't enough 3D titles for us to get picky.

If the cover art of a comedy somehow finds a way to mention Old School and The Hangover, you can count us in. Seriously, have there been two funnier movies made in the past 10 years? If so, we sure haven't seen 'em, but we do look forward to the end of the 30 day Netflix delay so we can watch Due Date. Besides the few documentaries that look good, Get Low caught our attention but only because we like Robert Duval and Bill Murray; although we can't ever think of a time we saw them together before now though. Next week is the big release of Bambi and soon after the Academy nominees will start rolling in.

The march to the Oscars continue and what better time to take in some 80's classics like Rain Man and Network as well as a few Adam Sandler movies and TV shows from BBC and Image. Not a lot of day and date titles to choose from, but one that looks worth catching is Unstoppable -- obviously not called untaxable for a reason though -- and for no other reason is worth picking up for Android fans.

We've been writing this post just about every week for the past four or so years and never have we seen so many titles, with so little we'd like to watch. There are a few classics worth mentioning and although we aren't trying to say this is a classic, we do remember John Candy and his Uncle Buck fondly. Sure, it isn't Planes Trains and Automobiles, but it isn't Canadian Bacon either. The biggest title this week also happens to be the one that was probably a Oscar hopeful and had its dreams dashed the same day it hit Blu-ray, Secretariat. While we do continue to wait for those that did get nominated, there are some classic you might've been waiting for like A Beautiful Mind or one of our fav's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Another title we enjoyed, but also saw already, are the Nature ones from PBS. There is even a 3D title, so there, truly something for everyone.

The next few months are famous for being the home media draught season, with almost nothing to look forward to for a long time except the Academy Award hopefuls. But that doesn't mean we aren't looking forward to the ridiculously fun, and empty, Machete. Stop motion fans will be happy to finally get the real 3D version of Coraline this week and Dinner with the Schmucks makes us wonder why Steve Carell is leaving The Office -- hopefully not to make more movies like that.

Blu-ray releases on November 16th 2010

The wait is over and the 3D week is upon us and it isn't all old IMAX movie either. Nope, in fact the studio with the biggest modern collection of 3D movies, Disney, released one of its biggest titles of 2009 with A Christmas Carol. In addition Warner has six 3D movies themselves with one being the Summer blockbuster Clash of the Titans and the other notable being The Polar Express. Before this week Sony had the most 3D movies available to consumers with two, and it doubles that count this week with a World Cup film as well as the first Open Season movie. These nine 3D movies probably won't be the last released this year, but we'd be shocked if we saw this many released on the same day again.

If you like Adam Sandler movies -- and if you like to laugh, we're sure you do -- then great news for you as Grown Ups hits Blu-ray this week. If you don't like Adam Sandler than you might like some of the other titles available this week, and while we can't speak for anyone else, we know we haven't heard of any of them. There are a few BBC TV shows in there which should be appreciated by those who still don't get BBC America HD. Overall we're pretty disappointed, maybe next week.

Oh man, now we're talking -- after weeks of nothing much to talk about on Blu-ray home media's holiday season finally gets started. First off is the highest box office grossing animated feature of all time with Toy Story 3 (no word on a 3D release) as well as Cars Toon: Mater's Tall Tales from the same studio. Next up HBO has its latest epic mini series The Pacific, which is sure to be a must see for any WWII genre fans. There there are a number of classics like The Goonies, The Sound of Music and Highlander. That should be enough to keep you busy for a least a week.

When we first realized we'd forgot to get this post out on time, we couldn't believe we'd forgotten. But then we saw the lineup, realized how forgettable it was, and everything made perfect sense. There is one big day and date title, but with an IMDB score of 6.7, we doubt we would've missed Predators much. The Criterion Collection is offering up Seventh Samurai, which we hear is great, so if you're in the mood for a classic, try that one.

We're not sure what is up with there being yet another highly rated animated feature but there is. Don't get us wrong, we enjoy watching movies like How to Train Your Dragon as much as the next, but no way any animated film could deserve an IMDB score of 8.3, there's just no way. We do hate to tell you that the 3D version is yet another one that's tied to hardware so unless you want to pick up two pairs of Samsung 3D glasses, you're out of luck on that one for now.

That's right, the Fall season has officially begun and brought with it the first Summer blockbuster on Blu-ray, Iron Man 2. If you aren't into that one, there might still be something out there for you this week. One that caught our attention was from the Criterion Collection. The Thin Red Line is a late 90's World War II movie that is supposedly one of the best war flicks, so check it out if you haven't seen it, we know we will be.

The TV season hits its stride this week and brings with it last season's episodes on Blu-ray. One that is of particular interest to us is a new HBO show, it isn't that we like this particular show as much as we just like to see HBO release Blu-rays because it gives us hope that our favorite shows may one day get the Blu-ray treatment. The biggest release this week probably isn't the best, but if you don't believe they can ever remake Robin Hood enough times, then at least one person will have something new to watch.

Next week is premier week for the big networks and of course that means that last season's episodes will hit Blu-ray. There are a few to choose from but our first pick is the third season of The Big Bang Theory. Another that will probably be a favorite to many geeks -- but not us, we couldn't make it through he first season -- is the second season of Fridge. If TV shows on Blu-ray don't interest you, then don't worry, you won't have to wait too long. In fact before you know it, all the Summer blockbusters will be coming home.

Besides playing Alfred on Batman, where's Michael Caine been? We sure don't know, but he's back in Harry Brown which is our number one movie of the week on Blu-ray. Sure it didn't bring much in via the Box Office, but it does have a decent IMDB score which is thankfully higher than Sleuth. There are a number of TV shows for you this week as well, which should give you enough time to catch up on your favorite shows before the new episodes shows hit the airwaves this Fall.

The picture above says it all, but we'll say it anyways; this week marks the release of the greatest TV show of all time on Blu-ray. Of course that is just an opinion, but one thing that can't be argued is that Lost was very popular and it would have to be for ABC to believe that someone would pay $200 for all six seasons and some toys. We can't wait to relive it all over again on Blu-ray ourselves, but at that price we'll have to wait for it to show up on Amazon's bargain collection.

Its the hottest month of the year in the northern hemisphere and there's not much new to watch on Blu-ray. Steve Carell's latest comedy might be worth a look if you are looking for a laugh or two, but with an IMDB score of 6.6, we wouldn't expect much if we were you. Two we know are good for a laugh is Warner's National Lampoon's Vacation movies -- we know you can't wait to see Wally World in HD for the first time.

Blu-ray releases on August 3rd 2010

If you've been reading this weekly post regularly and thinking, "man when is a new kick-ass movie or all of my favorite MGM classics going to be on Blu-ray?" then this is your week. Kick-ass isn't exactly the type of movie that would draw us to the theater, but any title that hits Blu-ray with an IMDB score of 8.2 warrants our time and attention. But that isn't the only thing this week as MGM has six classics and Universal has the 80's famous The Breakfast Club as well as the 4th season of Heroes -- which we wouldn't watch again if you paid us. There is obviously more to talk about that we're missing but one last one we'll mention is Sony's The Prophet, which we've never heard of, but we always enjoy a good crime drama, especially with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 97%, wow.

Love it or hate it the top title this week is the modern remake of Clash of the Titans. And if you are worried about more fake 3D, don't, this Blu-ray Discs has lots of features, but one of them isn't 3D. But even if this one isn't for you there are still a few others worth a look like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, or maybe enjoy the extended cut of Rambo, with an extra 15 minutes of .50 action. If none of that appeals to you, then maybe you'd like Fanboys?

This is a very odd week for us because while there are a number of day and date titles none that we can say we've heard of, except the super terrible Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lighting Theft. As far as we can tell the beset is Matt Damon's Green Zone, but even that isn't something we feel the urge to buy and instead will wait another 30 days to watch it via Netflix. If you're starting to get the idea that the Summer time is the when you're supposed to go out and enjoy nature instead of sitting in a dark home theater, there's good reason for that. There are a few day and date titles like The Book of Eli from Warner, but for the most part it is a week of catalogs with some not so classical titles like Darkman and Flash Gordon. It won't be like this forever though and before you know it, it'll be cold out, there will be football on in HD and all the big Summer blockbusters will be hitting Blu-ray. Yeah, we don't care much for the Summer either.

Not sure why this one stayed under our radar until this week, but we saw an ad on TV for Shutter Island and just noticed today that it has an IMDB score of 8.0 which is a pretty high score. Also on our list today is the classic Caddyshack and The Illusionist. Not a great week overall, but any week with at least one worthwhile topic is all good.

Not a bad week considering the time of year. We have a pretty nice day and date that even the Netflix and Redbox customers will get to enjoy -- but not 3D fans. And we have a fantastic documentary from the BBC, although we were really annoyed to see that Netflix is currently only offering the crappy version for rent. Then best of all -- well maybe -- we have a number of great Clint Eastwood titles like Heartbreak Ridge, Absolute Power and The Rookie. Well the last one isn't that great.

We've never seen so many Blu-ray releases in the same week where we didn't really see anything we wanted to watch. We're sure some are glad to see HBO bring the second season of True Blood nearly 10 months after it aired on HBO -- we're still waiting on a few ourselves. Other than that we're looking forward to hearing what's great about this week's lineup in the comments that we missed.

Not a bad week of Blu-ray releases for mid-May, not bad at all. At the top of our list is Invictus, the true story based on South Africa's great rugby story -- but then again we're always a sucker for a good sports movie. Also this week is one of our favorite gangster movies of all time, Carlito's Way. There's even something for the fans of chick flicks as New Line brings out the day and date, Valentine's Day.

After one of the great classic WWII movies of all times hit Blu-ray last week, this week is full of mediocre day and date releases like Mel's Edge of Darkness and Ethan's Daybreakers. Sony goes to the archives and brings out the Karate Kid movies, while Fox has what is possibly the worst Robin Hood rendition ever. Overall not a great week, but we've seen worse.
