We've talked at length about the (lack of) quality in most cable DVR software, but it looks like for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Comcast/">Comcast</a> customers it will be getting at least a little better very soon. The new A28 guide software is rolling out across the country with tweaked searches for upcoming events, a single click 5 minute back/forward skip function tied to the Page up/Down remote buttons, mass delete on recordings and of course, Remote DVR scheduling. Of course we're still waiting for the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/10/hands-on-with-the-latest-tv-guide-software-comcast-dvr/">facelifted i-Guide we saw at CES '08</a>, but for now this will have to do. Motorola's official blog suggests all areas should see the new software in the first half of this year along with some first hand impressions, while Comcast offers a detailed breakdown of the features on the way and a video walkthrough available (embedded after the break.)<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/14/comcasts-guide-software-adds-brains-but-beauty-remains-elusive/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Comcast's guide software adds brains, but beauty remains elusive</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/14/comcasts-guide-software-adds-brains-but-beauty-remains-elusive/">Comcast's guide software adds brains, but beauty remains elusive</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 14 Jan 2010 16:26:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/startover">StartOver</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/sdv">switched digital video</a> support, TiVo-style searches and prompts to make sure you're really watching an HD channel are coming to Comcast and other services using the i-Guide software in the second half of '09, hopefully bringing the much-loathed Motorola set-top boxes (&amp; <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/tru2way/">tru2way</a> HDTVs) up to par with other modern DVRs. <em>Multichannel News</em> reports SDV support was originally planned for this year, but got pushed back to the next major release due to glitches. If our <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/10/hands-on-with-the-latest-tv-guide-software-comcast-dvr/">early preview at CES '08</a> was any indication there's a lot to love in the new software, except for the wait until it's released.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/dvrs/" rel="tag">DVRs</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/set-top-boxes/" rel="tag">Set-top boxes</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cable/" rel="tag">Cable</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/22/new-i-guide-for-comcast-other-cable-ops-slated-for-second-half/">New i-Guide for Comcast, other cable ops, slated for second half of '09</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 22 Oct 2008 15:58:00 EST.
