Sub-$200 Blu-ray players certainly <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/08/vizio-jumps-into-the-sub-200-blu-ray-player-ring-with-its-vbr10/">aren't new</a> -- heck, some guys have been doing it <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/10/15/150-blu-ray-players-destined-for-black-friday/">since the year 2008</a> -- but you'll never catch us kvetching about a little more competition. <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/04/25/jvc-xv-pb1-blu-ray-player-surprises-with1080p-mkv-support/">JVC</a> has today introduced (in the briefest way possible, might we add) its newest Blu-ray player just ten months after <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/07/jvc-finally-brings-its-blu-ray-products-to-america/">deciding</a> to play the BD game here in the States. The ultrathin (and "now available") XV-BP11 should slide into just about any AV rack, bringing Blu-ray / DVD playback, AVCHD support, HDMI 1.3, a USB socket and compatibility with a slew of audio formats. Curiously enough, the outfit doesn't bother to mention if this thing is Profile 2.0, but we're guessing (read: hoping) that it wouldn't do something as ludicrous as charge two bills for a Profile 1.1 deck in late 2009. Then again, we've seen <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/02/20/two-years-of-battle-between-hd-dvd-and-blu-ray-a-retrospective/">zanier things</a> go down...<br />
<br />
<strong>Update</strong>: Ouch -- this thing <a href="http://av.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MODL028594&amp;pathId=169&amp;page=1">is only Profile 1.1</a>. Dud. [Thanks, Aaron!]<p><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/10/28/jvc-joins-the-sub-200-blu-ray-player-game-with-ultrathin-xv-bp1/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>JVC joins the sub-$200 Blu-ray player game with ultrathin XV-BP11</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/10/28/jvc-joins-the-sub-200-blu-ray-player-game-with-ultrathin-xv-bp1/">JVC joins the sub-$200 Blu-ray player game with ultrathin XV-BP11</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Wed, 28 Oct 2009 08:59:00 EST. We know, life's tough. You want to buy <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/10/jvcs-ultraslim-32-inch-lt-32wx50-hdtv-landing-in-november-for/">the latest ultraslim HDTV</a>, but find that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/09/engadgets-recession-antidote-win-a-klipsch-hd-theater-500-soun/">your home theater speakers</a> will look monstrously bulky sitting alongside it. JVC wouldn't want to cause you such headaches, which is why it's trotted out the above pair of 31mm thin speaker satelittes -- known as the SP-FT1 in black and SP-FT2 in their white garb -- and the AX-FT amplifier squeezed in between them. While you should probably not expect <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/04/28/goldmund-asks-what-recession-releases-telos-5000-amplifier/">Telos 5000</a>-like output, the amp will deliver 80W of total output over 4 independent channels, and has support for Dolby Digital, DTS and AAC formats. Prices are expected to be around &yen;24,000 ($267) for the amp and &yen;20,000 ($223) for the speakers when their black iterations hit Japan later this month, with the willowy white option showing up in November.<br />

There are a few bits of good stuff we didn't manage to get our HD hands on, including the new JVC projectors aimed at folks who just can't swing the mortgage-busting $175,000 for the company's <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/09/10/jvc-puts-4k-dla-rs4000-projector-in-your-home-for-just-175-000/">pick o' the litter</a>. The DLA-RS35, DLA-RS25 and DLA-RS15 are available through the "professional channels" CEDIA targets, but the equivalent DLA-HD990, DLA-HD950 and DLA-HD550 are in the consumer lineup. Everyone of the 1080p, D-ILA beamers gets the 120-Hz treatment, HQV Reon video processing, motorized lens zoom and focus, horizontal and vertical lens shifts and of course, ISF calibration modes so you can get things tweaked just so. Sounds great, but you can't expect JVC to deliver this feature set on the cheap -- $5,000 for the HD550, $5,500 for the RS15, $8,000 for the RS25 or HD950, and an even $10,000 for the RS35 or HD990.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/lcos/" rel="tag">LCoS</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/projector/" rel="tag">Projector</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/09/15/jvcs-trio-of-consumer-ish-projectors-still-make-wallets-weep/">JVC's trio of consumer-ish projectors still make wallets weep</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Tue, 15 Sep 2009 06:40:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/JVC/">JVC</a> introduced its HD Everio GZ-HM400 in Japan <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/30/jvc-issues-everio-gz-hm400-full-hd-camcorder-in-japan/">way back in late July</a>, but at long last, the time has come for the Yanks in attendance to grab one as their own. Shipping now (as in,<em> right now</em>) here on US soil, the Full HD camcorder packs a 10.3 megapixel sensor, 32GB of internal storage, an SD / SDHC expansion slot and the ability to capture stills at 9 megapixels. Over on the video side, users will have access to a trio of slow-motion recording modes (600fps, 300fps and 120fps), though we can't express in mere words how disheartened we are to hear that this thing utilizes the thoroughly worthless AVCHD format. If you aren't bothered in the least by that, you can pick yours up now for a nickel shy of a grand.<br /><p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/camcorders/" rel="tag">Camcorders</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/09/14/jvc-brings-1-000-hd-everio-gz-hm400-to-america/">JVC brings $1,000 HD Everio GZ-HM400 camcorder to America</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Mon, 14 Sep 2009 10:22:00 EST. Back in January, JVC slated its <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/07/jvc-finally-brings-its-blu-ray-products-to-america/">TH-SB100</a> soundbar + subwoofer + Blu-ray player system as "3.1-channel," which kind of made sense since the soundbar housed LCR drivers. There's been something funny in the punch since then, because the TH-SB100 has morphed into something with 4.1-channel status. It's still a soundbar system, but <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/JVC/">JVC</a> is using magic called "front surround" to get the outermost drivers to handle the left/right channels and the inside two drivers to handle the center + surround audio. It sounds crazy to us, but we'll try to keep an open mind because otherwise things look pretty good -- 220-Watts total, wireless subwoofer, and Dolby Digital, Pro Logic II and DTS processing in the soundbar. If all you've already got a Blu-ray player, opt for the $400 TH-BA1 (soundbar + sub only), otherwise get onboard with Blu-ray and grab the $700 TH-SB100 (complete with Blu-ray deck). <br /><p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/speakers/" rel="tag">Speakers</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/09/11/jvcs-th-ba1-and-th-sb100-soundbar-systems-fill-out-4-1-channels/">JVC's TH-BA1 and TH-SB100 soundbar systems fill out 4.1-channels</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Fri, 11 Sep 2009 09:44:00 EST. By and large, any <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/09/04/jvcs-4k-x-2k-dla-sh4k-10-megapixel-hd-projector-now-shipping/">4K x 2K projector</a> that we've seen -- be it at CES, CEDIA or any <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2007/10/05/jvc-victor-exhibits-4k-x-2k-d-ila-projector-at-ceatec/">other trade show</a> -- has been solely for looks. Oh sure, they're for sale, but they're only being sold to cinema owners and the select few that find themselves within the same tax bracket as Bill Gates and Lawrence Ellison. But the DLA-RS4000... the DLA-RS4000 is different. Introduced here in Atlanta, the ultra high-definition projector spots a native resolution of 4,096 x 2,400, enabling it to display up to four screens of Full HD content (you listening, college football / NFL fans?) at once. Naturally, it's fully ISF and THX certified, and it packs 3,500 ANSI lumens, a Xenon lamp, 10,000:1 contrast ratio, RSVP4 video processing unit, Ethernet port and an RS-232c control port. Interested in showing <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/09/04/jvc-launches-four-new-full-hd-projectors-at-cedia/">1080p</a> what's <em>really</em> up? Great! Crack open that wallet and yank out $176,000 -- $175,000 for the beamer, and a grand to rent the forklift you'll need to get a 110 pound box into your home.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/09/10/jvc-puts-4k-dla-rs4000-projector-in-your-home-for-just-175-000/">JVC puts 4K DLA-RS4000 projector in your home... for just $175,000</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Thu, 10 Sep 2009 15:42:00 EST. Jumpin' Jehosaphat! We know exchange rates have been sort of crazy of late, but we can say with a good deal of certainty that the in-home 3D revolution isn't going anywhere with MSRPs like this. After <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/04/13/jvc-intros-1080p-gd-463d10-3d-lcd-monitor-in-japan/">introducing</a> the 46-inch <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/06/24/jvc-gd-463d10-3d-monitor-pops-up-in-the-uk-brings-silly-glasses/">GD-463D10 3D LCD HDTV</a> in various overseas markets, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/JVC/">JVC</a> is announcing here at CEDIA that its flagship 3D panel is now available on US soil for a solid chunk of change. The 1080p display touts a 2,000:1 contrast ratio, three HDMI sockets, 178-degree viewing angles, a depth of 1.5-inches and two incredibly awesome sets of 3D goggles. If you're not concerned that <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/23/3d-is-this-the-resurgence-that-counts/">actual 3D <em>content</em></a> is all but nonexistent for home users, you can snag this now for $9,153 (and not a penny more).<br /><p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/lcd/" rel="tag">LCD</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/09/10/jvc-brings-46-inch-gd-463d10-3d-lcd-hdtv-to-america-shipping-no/">JVC brings 46-inch GD-463D10 3D LCD HDTV to America: shipping now for $9,200</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Thu, 10 Sep 2009 12:40:00 EST. U.S. buyers wanting to slide a Blu-ray playing &amp; recording deck into their setup finally have an option coming from JVC, but the domestic limitations are almost as high as the pricetags. Unlike their <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/blu-ray,recorder">Japanese and European cousins</a>, there isn't any support for DVRing television content to the hard drive or discs here, with support limited strictly to unprotected Blu-ray content, or imported video from cameras or other sources via the Firewire, SDHC and USB ports. Still, professionals and prosumers interested in easily duping their own Blu-ray discs, video editing or quickly creating one-offs the SR-HD1500 (250GB, $1,995) and the SR-HD1250 (500GB, RS-232, Final Cut Pro .mov file support $2,550) may find a home for these when they ship in October.<p><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/09/10/jvc-brings-blu-ray-burning-set-tops-to-the-u-s-leaves-all-the/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>JVC brings Blu-ray burning set-tops to the U.S., leaves all the fun overseas</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/recorders/" rel="tag">Recorders</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/09/10/jvc-brings-blu-ray-burning-set-tops-to-the-u-s-leaves-all-the/">JVC brings Blu-ray burning set-tops to the U.S., leaves all the fun overseas</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Thu, 10 Sep 2009 12:33:00 EST. Hey, remember that ultra skinny, LED-backlit HDTV that JVC <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/06/24/jvc-shows-off-led-backlit-7mm-thin-1080p-lt-32wx50-lcd-hdtv/">showed off</a> at CEDIA UK earlier this year? The seven millimeter-thin LT-32WX50? Yeah, that very panel is making a second debut here in Atlanta, but it has somehow managed to slim down to 6.4 millimeters (at its thinnest point) and get a November ship date in the US. Weighing just 12.5 pounds, the 32-inch set packs a 4,000:1 contrast ratio, edged-light LED backlight system, a super wide color gamut (100 percent of sRGB and 90 percent of Adobe RGB), a 1080p native resolution, two HDMI sockets, VGA input and an RS-232c control port. The pain? Just under $3,000, or in other words, a small fortune.<br /><p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/lcd/" rel="tag">LCD</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/09/10/jvcs-ultraslim-32-inch-lt-32wx50-hdtv-landing-in-november-for/">JVC's ultraslim 32-inch LT-32WX50 HDTV landing in November for $3,000</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Thu, 10 Sep 2009 12:23:00 EST. If you're the kind of person who happens to have a number of LCD HDTV's lying around, we suggest you give University of California, San Diego's Calit2 Visualization Team a ring. Researchers from the group have constructed a three-column, nine-panel 3D display using flat screens from JVC, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/stereoscopic/">stereoscopic</a> glasses, and "game PCs with high end <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/NVIDIA/">NVIDIA</a> game engines." Dubbed NexCAVE, it's a much more inexpensive version of the its projector-powered StarCAVE used for data analysis, although its range is more limited -- on the plus side, however, since this is LCD, it can be used in bright rooms. At 6,000 x 1,500 pixel, the resolution isn't as mind-blowing as we'd hope, but the team is currently building a version for Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah University for Science and Technology (KAUST) that's 7 columns (totaling 21 panels) and 15,000 x 1,500 resolution. If nothing else, any chance we can play <i>Mirror's Edge </i>on this? Video demonstration of the nine-panel rig after the break.<br />

Lookie here -- time for yet another <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/camcorders/">HD camcorder</a> in the quickly expanding Everio family. Launched today in the Land of the Rising Sun, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/JVC/">JVC</a> Everio GZ-HM400 is a Full HD shooter with a 10.3 megapixel CMOS sensor, 2.8-inch flip-out LCD, 32GB of built-in storage, an SD / SDHC expansion slot, HDMI output, a 10x optical zoom and a fairly preposterous (in a good way) 600fps slo-mo mode, just like that ultra-sleek <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/03/jvcs-new-everio-x-gz-x900-does-1080p-video-9-megapixel-stills/">GZ-X900</a> we peeked back in March. The unit can also snap 9 megapixel still shots and hold nearly three hours of Full HD content before needing a USB-led cleansing. Indeed, this here camcorder mimics the aforesaid GZ-X900 in pretty much every way save for design, and it's expected on Japanese store shelves early next month for &yen;110,000 ($1,157).<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news_details.php?id=18577">Akihabara News</a>]<br /><br /><a href="http://74.125.159.132/translate_c?hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;sl=ja&amp;tl=en&amp;u=http://www.jvc-victor.co.jp/press/2009/gz-hm400.html&amp;rurl=translate.google.com&amp;usg=ALkJrhguBzi4TKYVk2xiwXxzDEGvnxU_2Q">Read</a> - JVC press release<br /><a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fav.watch.impress.co.jp%2Fdocs%2Fnews%2F20090730_305624.html&amp;sl=ja&amp;tl=en&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8">Read</a> - Hands-on shots<p><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/07/30/jvc-issues-everio-gz-hm400-full-hd-camcorder-in-japan/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>JVC issues Everio GZ-HM400 Full HD camcorder in Japan</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/camcorders/" rel="tag">Camcorders</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/07/30/jvc-issues-everio-gz-hm400-full-hd-camcorder-in-japan/">JVC issues Everio GZ-HM400 Full HD camcorder in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Thu, 30 Jul 2009 04:14:00 EST. Not satisfied with just rolling out prototypes and specs, JVC is putting its <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/05/12/jvc-debuts-8k-4k-prototype-camcorders-moviemakers-drool/">4K compact camcorder prototype</a> to work to screen a live solar eclipse throughout several live venues (also in <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/4K/">4K</a> at some locations) in Japan. This camera is the first to deliver its high res, 60p video in real-time, so it can be broadcast a look through the 190-degree fisheye lens shown attached in the picture above in sky domes by 4K projectors. Anyone want to see if they can get <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/cinedigm">Cinedigm</a> on this?<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/camcorders/" rel="tag">Camcorders</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/07/17/jvc-4k-camcorder-set-to-transmit-solar-eclipse-cameras-live-july/">JVC 4K camcorder set to transmit solar eclipse cameras live July 22</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Fri, 17 Jul 2009 10:42:00 EST. Otherwise the specs are the same, adjusted for a &pound;8,000 price tag, though that's only a concern if you can grab one of the 2,000 JVC plans to sell, whether that's just for the UK or all regions though, is unclear. CEDIA's UK show is going on right now across the pond, and while things are rather quiet overall, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/JVC/">JVC</a> has definitely garnered a fair bit of attention with its 32-inch LT-32WX50. The 1080p set features 100Hz dejudder technology, a 4,000:1 contrast ratio, 90 percent of Adobe's RGB color space and -- here's the real kicker -- a thickness of just seven millimeters. The whole panel weighs just 11 pounds, meaning that even the weaklings should be able to transport, move and install this one sans any overpriced help from Geek Squad. Around back, there's a pair of HDMI inputs, a PC port, an SD card slot and a USB connector. If all goes well, it should start hitting retailers this fall, but there's no mention of when it'll ship stateside.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/lcd/" rel="tag">LCD</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/06/24/jvc-shows-off-led-backlit-7mm-thin-1080p-lt-32wx50-lcd-hdtv/">JVC shows off LED-backlit, 7mm-thin 1080p LT-32WX50 LCD HDTV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Wed, 24 Jun 2009 05:05:00 EST. OLED displays are synonymous with being <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/28/sonys-howard-stringer-to-show-off-new-oled-tvs-at-d/">impossibly thin</a>. But Samsung's 8.9-mm thick <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/01/samsung-slaps-production-ready-label-on-14-1-and-31-inch-oled/">"production-ready" 31-inch OLED TV</a> was just trumped by this 32-inch LCD monitor from JVC measuring just 6.4-mm at its thinnest point. Oh right, <em>thinnest point</em>, we get it, all the processing circuity (<a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/genessa">Genessa</a> Premium) and jacks (2x HDMI, RGB, component, composite, and more) are bundled into a brick riding the lower-half of the Full HD (1920 &times; 1080) monitor resulting is an unsightly pear-shaped pudge measuring a full 22.5-mm (0.89-inches) -- eww. You'll also be giving up the million-to-one contrast ratio of OLEDs for the relatively weak 4,000:1 contrast (on 400nits of brightness) found in the GD-32X1's LCD panel. No worries, with <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/04/16/jvc-dropping-out-of-japan-consumer-lcd-biz/">JVC dropping out of the consumer display business</a>, these panels are targeting business-use anyway, so you can save your cash when these start shipping in August. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;langpair=ja|en&amp;u=http://av.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/20090608_280589.html">Impress</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/lcd/" rel="tag">LCD</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/06/08/jvcs-32-inch-gd-32x1-lcd-is-6-4-mm-thin-nearly-makes-oleds-jea/">JVC's 32-inch GD-32X1 LCD is 6.4-mm thin, nearly makes OLEDs jealous</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Mon, 08 Jun 2009 06:42:00 EST. JVC seemed pretty proud of its <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/07/jvc-debuts-42-inch-lt-42wx70-lcd-hdtv-covers-96-of-adobergb-co/">LT-42WX70</a> back at CES, and while some may consider this unit's main selling point a fillip, graphic professionals will likely disagree. The Xiview LT-42WX7 is a 42-inch 120Hz 1080p panel which targets imaging junkies and those who just can't get enough of those wild, vivacious colors seen in <em>Family Guy</em> re-runs. Said display covers 96 percent of the Adobe RGB color space, theoretically making it suitable for image editing. If you're buying all that, you can voice your support right now with $2,399.95. Full release is after the break.<br /><p><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/05/26/jvc-ships-42-inch-lt-42wx70-2-399-95-for-more-colors-than-you/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>JVC ships 42-inch LT-42WX70: $2,399.95 for more colors than you'll ever notice</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/lcd/" rel="tag">LCD</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/05/26/jvc-ships-42-inch-lt-42wx70-2-399-95-for-more-colors-than-you/">JVC ships 42-inch LT-42WX70: $2,399.95 for more colors than you'll ever notice</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Tue, 26 May 2009 11:41:00 EST. Aw, snap. Just when you thought the <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/4k/">4K</a> market couldn't get any more dominated by <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/red">RED and the gang</a>, along comes JVC to shake things up. For reasons unknown, the company has chosen now (and not a few weeks back at <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/nab">NAB</a>) to unleash its <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/04/20/panasonic-developing-1080p-twin-lens-p2-camcorder-for-native-3d/">prototype</a> 4K and 8K camcorders, both of which boast D-ILA technology and can capture clips at a downright mind-blowing 8,912 x 4,320 or 3,840 x 2,160 resolution. There's also a more "compact" sibling which does 4K only, but even it provides plenty of pixels to zoom and pan in unprecedented clarity on. So JVC -- you, us, CEDIA 2009. It's a date, cool?<br /> <br /> <strong>Update</strong>: More details <a href="http://pro.jvc.com/pro/pr/2009/nab/kyf4000.html">here</a>. The first Blu-ray player to come to the U.S. from JVC, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/07/jvc-finally-brings-its-blu-ray-products-to-america/">XV-PB1</a>, hasn't received a lot of hype since its CES reveal, but that might change now that it appears to be one of the first supporting <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/mkv">MKV</a> playback, following the Oppo BDP-83 and LG BD390. EHD reader Bill picked one up on the humble and lets us know he's had no problems playing 1080p video with DTS audio from a burned DVD. The manual on JVC's website indicates official MKV and AVCHD support, but surprisingly, not DivX although the spec sheet on the same website says it does. We're reached out to JVC to confirm what buyers can expect from the XV-PB1, but with MKV on top of BD-Live, network streaming from PCs and reportedly extremely fast load times this $299 player might reshuffle the list of most desired Blu-ray hardware.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/media-streamers/" rel="tag">Media streamers</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/04/25/jvc-xv-pb1-blu-ray-player-surprises-with1080p-mkv-support/">JVC XV-PB1 Blu-ray player surprises with 1080p MPEG-4 MKV support</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Sat, 25 Apr 2009 19:43:00 EST. Not that <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/JVC/">JVC</a>'s been avoiding the 3D bandwagon or <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/11/07/jvc-sensio-team-up-on-high-end-consumer-3d-projection-system/">anything</a>, but it has yet to formally introduce a 3D HDTV to really take advantage of the in-home 3D <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/04/08/mitsubishi-debuts-3d-ready-home-theater-tv-line-82-incher-inclu/">revolution</a> that 3D backers <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/04/15/3d-home-consortium-aims-to-get-3d-in-the-home/">just swear</a> is right around the bend. The GD-463D10 is a 46-inch LCD HDTV with a native 1,920 x 1080 resolution, 2,000:1 contrast ratio, twin ten-watt speakers and support for three-dee material. We're also told that the set will come bundled with a pair of polarized glasses when it ships in Japan early next month. The only problem? That &yen;700,000 ($6,978) price tag, which seems particularly painful with no real <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/3D/">3D</a> programming to speak of. <em>Yet</em>, of course.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&amp;sl=ja&amp;u=http://av.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/20090413_125278.html&amp;ei=S2rjSZLvGMGJtgeljbjxDA&amp;sa=X&amp;oi=translate&amp;resnum=4&amp;ct=result&amp;prev=/search%3Fq%3DGD-463D10%2Bimpress%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG">Impress</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/lcd/" rel="tag">LCD</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/04/13/jvc-intros-1080p-gd-463d10-3d-lcd-monitor-in-japan/">JVC intros 1080p GD-463D10 3D LCD monitor in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Mon, 13 Apr 2009 15:26:00 EST. JVC's new "Everio X" GZ-X900 camcorder is just what we like in a flagship device: incredible style, crazy specs, and awesome slow motion video of us slapping people. The GZ-X900 reworks the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Everio/">Everio</a> line into a new brick-like form factor that's bordering on the shape of camcorders of yore, but JVC puts a nice twist to it, and the camera is obviously very compact. JVC used some "premium materials" in the construction and it really shows, but what's more exciting is the high-end 1080p resolution, with 1000 "TV lines" to sample from (it's not upscaling from a completely bum source like many compact camcorders). The unit also works as a fast-action still camera, for 9 megapixel shots at 15 fps, and 5.3 megapixel shots at 60 fps. What we're really wild about is the 600 fps slow motion, which operates at a 640 x 72 resolution -- you can get more pixels at slower frame rates. Unfortunately, none of this good stuff comes cheap: the camera hits retail in June for an even $1000.<br />
<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/camcorders/" rel="tag">Camcorders</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/03/03/jvcs-new-everio-x-gz-x900-does-1080p-video-9-megapixel-stills/">JVC's new Everio X GZ-X900 does 1080p video, 9 megapixel stills, 600 fps slow motion</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Tue, 03 Mar 2009 16:38:00 EST. Fresh off its strong CES rollout that covered the bases with <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/07/jvc-announces-full-hd-lcd-tvs-new-line-of-ipod-friendly-sets/">LCD TVs</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/07/jvc-finally-brings-its-blu-ray-products-to-america/">Blu-ray players</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/07/jvc-lays-out-2009-line-of-everio-camcorders-at-ces/">camcorders</a> and <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/07/jvc-circles-the-wagons-surrounds-us-with-four-htibs/">HTIBs</a>, JVC Americas is undergoing some restructuring. In all, four JVC companies are being merged in the US -- the JVC Company we're most familiar with that sells consumer A/V gear, JVC Mobile (car products), JVC Professional and JVC Service and Engineering. That's a lot of streamlining, and sadly, we don't expect any resulting "redundancies" will be long for trimming once the official April 1 merge date hits.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/02/03/jvc-merging-us-business-lines/">JVC merging US business lines</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Tue, 03 Feb 2009 23:27:00 EST. In an effort to make sure you aren't duped into thinking that set you're about to buy is actually a CES '09-announced set, we've laid out the entire line of newcomers (ones that'll actually see store shelves -- we avoided the concepts to save you some grief) just past the break, complete with scheduled release dates and prices where applicable. Nah, you won't find any big screen <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/oled/">OLEDs</a> in there (maybe next year, kids), but there's plenty of Hz, pixels and inches to go around.<p><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/20/the-hdtvs-of-ces-2009/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The HDTVs of CES 2009</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/panasonic/" rel="tag">Panasonic</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/samsung/" rel="tag">Samsung</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/sharp/" rel="tag">Sharp</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/sony/" rel="tag">Sony</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/toshiba/" rel="tag">Toshiba</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/westinghouse/" rel="tag">Westinghouse</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/20/the-hdtvs-of-ces-2009/">The HDTVs of CES 2009</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Tue, 20 Jan 2009 14:00:00 EST. You know, we're actually kind of shocked that more companies aren't doing this, but <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/CyberLink/">CyberLink</a> and JVC may have just started something without even being aware of it. Rather than trying to push daunting Blu-ray HTIB systems and media server software separately, these two decided it'd be easier to sell a setup in which the consumer was assured that their media would integrate seamlessly right out of the box. The so-called digital home entertainment network solution bundles CyberLink Media Server 2 with JVC's <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/11/10/jvcs-htib-nx-bd3-gets-reviewed-passes-muster/">NX-BD3</a>, and given the DLNA certification, there's nothing holding you back from streaming in networked media for playback on the system. Windows Home Server baked into your next <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/HTIB/">HTIB</a>? It could happen, folks.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/other-hardware/" rel="tag">Other hardware</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/14/cyberlink-bundles-media-server-2-with-jvcs-nx-bd3-blu-ray-htib/">CyberLink bundles Media Server 2 with JVC's NX-BD3 Blu-ray HTIB</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Wed, 14 Jan 2009 23:05:00 EST. Anthem is gearing up to package its electronics with JVC projectors and SI Screens to sell as kind of high-end HTIB (home theater in a box) systems at the end of the quarter. The JVC projectors will be rebranded under the Anthem name, and even though speakers aren't included, we expect authorized dealers will be more than happy to demo the systems with speakers from Anthem's sister company, Paradigm. The combination of brands in these systems certainly looks like a winner, and even well-heeled shoppers enjoy the convenience of bundles. With this kind of gear, we don't expect pricing to be mainstream, bt the performance should be a treat.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/other-hardware/" rel="tag">Other hardware</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/projector/" rel="tag">Projector</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/13/anthem-getting-into-high-end-htibs/">Anthem getting into high end HTIBs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Tue, 13 Jan 2009 19:19:00 EST. Before buying either the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/JVC/">JVC</a> GY-HM100 / GY-HM700, you better be darn well married to Apple's Final Cut Pro. Said ProHD camcorders are the industry's first in the solid state line to store files in native QuickTime format onto SDHC cards. Apple's pushing the fact that users don't have to transcode or re-wrap prior to editing, and considering that each one cam can hold twin SDHC cards, you'll be able to capture a maximum of 64GB before needing to reload. And just think, this time next year the successor will hit with dual <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SDXC/">SDXC</a> support, giving buyers a maximum capacity of 4TB. Decisions, decisions.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/other-hardware/" rel="tag">Other hardware</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/08/jvcs-gy-hm100-gy-hm700-prohd-camcorders-capture-quicktime-str/">JVC's GY-HM100 / GY-HM700 ProHD camcorders capture QuickTime straight to SDHC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Thu, 08 Jan 2009 16:48:00 EST. For folks with plenty of DVDs left to watch, the 19-inch LT-19D200 or 32-inch LT-32D200 LCD TV-DVD combos might be great for a second set in the home. Don't be turned off by the lack of 1080p resolution on these models -- at these sizes, you won't notice the difference at reasonable viewing distances. Still, we've got to wonder about the choice of marketing a product with the "<a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/06/1080i-720p-broadcast-hd-debate-revisited/">inferior</a>" 720p spec number to a casual audience; but there's also no pricing info on these new models. Hopefully the planned March release gives JVC some time to firm the marketing details up.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/other-formats/" rel="tag">Other formats</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/other-hardware/" rel="tag">Other hardware</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/08/jvc-spins-out-lcd-tv-dvd-combos/">JVC spins out LCD TV-DVD combos</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Thu, 08 Jan 2009 14:43:00 EST. Just in case you haven't seen enough from <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/JVC/">JVC</a> today, how's about a look at nine new TVs? From the top, we're look at four newcomers with 1080p panels -- the LT-32J300, LT-42J300, LT-46J300 and LT-52J300 -- all of which tout a dynamic backlight, the company's own Smart Picture technology, there HDMI inputs and a new cabinet with a snazzy new bezel and a black glossy finish. Moving on to more Apple-friendly pastures, we've got an all new TeleDock line that spans from 31.5-inches to 46-inches. All five models come with an integrated iPod dock for playing back portable media and recharging your player, and the whole crew should be in stores by April. Check the links below for all the minutiae.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.jvc.com/press/index.jsp?item=670&amp;pageID=1">Read</a> - JVC's new Full HD line<br /><a href="http://www.jvc.com/press/index.jsp?item=671&amp;pageID=1">Read</a> - JVC's TeleDock line<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/lcd/" rel="tag">LCD</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/07/jvc-announces-full-hd-lcd-tvs-new-line-of-ipod-friendly-sets/">JVC announces Full HD LCD TVs, new line of iPod-friendly sets</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Wed, 07 Jan 2009 12:35:00 EST. Here in Vegas, the company has introduced the 42-inch LT-42B300, which packs a 1080p panel, integrated ATSC-QAM tuner, a 5-band equalizer, dual 10-watt speakers, three HDMI inputs (with CEC) and an inbuilt Blu-ray player to boot. First up, the TH-G31, TH-G41 and TH-G51 are all based around upconverting DVD decks. The TH-G41 and TH-G51 models add a repeating HDMI input and iPod/iPhone connectivity -- complete with a display of the iPod/iPhone UI -- into the mix. Capping off the tippy-top of the line, the TH-G51 also sports wireless surround speakers. If your fashion sensibilities are even more stringent than wireless surrounds, you might be able to accept the move to the 2.1-channel, so slim it's wall-mountable NX-T10. Don't run away from the 2.1-channel spec just yet -- the speakers are omnidirectional, so you'll still get some sense of envelopment. JVC's busting out a veritable plethora of camcorders today, with three in particular catching our eyes. The 60GB GZ-HD300, 120GB GZ-HD320 and the dual SD slot-packin' GZ-HM200 all record in Full HD and feature a 3.05 megapixel CMOS image sensor. If you're into the SD gig, it has five other models within the Everio G series and Everio S series, and the whole family will include a One Touch Export function that enables videos to be imported into iTunes and loaded directly onto an iPod / iPhone. Expect 'em all to be available by March at the latest for between $299.95 and $799.95.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/other-hardware/" rel="tag">Other hardware</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/07/jvc-lays-out-2009-line-of-everio-camcorders-at-ces/">JVC lays out 2009 line of Everio camcorders at CES</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Wed, 07 Jan 2009 12:09:00 EST. Over here in the US, JVC fans have had to watch with lustful eyes at all the JVC Blu-ray products in the rest of the world, but no more. Today JVC has announced both a stand-alone Blu-ray player and a 3.1 home theater in a box. The XV-PB1 Blu-ray player will be available in March for $299 and as you'd expect, it will support BD Live content as well as playback AVCHD videos you create on your HD camcorder. We assume the new TH-SB100 is a US variation of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/27/jvcs-nx-bd3-system-enters-the-blu-ray-htib-arena/">NX-BD3 previously available in Europe</a> which is of course a BD Live player, but we're sad to say there's no mention of any support for DTS-HD or Dolby TrueHD. Nevertheless it will be available in April for $699.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.jvc.com/press/index.jsp?item=697&amp;pageID=1">Read</a> - JVC XV-PB1<br /><a href="http://www.jvc.com/press/index.jsp?item=678&amp;pageID=1">Read</a> - JVC TH-SB100<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/07/jvc-finally-brings-its-blu-ray-products-to-america/">JVC finally brings its Blu-ray products to America</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Wed, 07 Jan 2009 11:55:00 EST. While everyone else seems to be cutting back on energy consumption and adding some form of connectivity, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/JVC/">JVC</a> is doing something quite different with its 42-inch LT-42WX70. The 1080p LCD HDTV supposedly targets DSLR users by encompassing 100 percent of HDTV broadcasting's (sRGB.904) color space and a coverage rate of 96 percent for Adobe RGB -- much like those "pro LCD monitors" we see so often. You'll also find 52 picture quality adjustments properties, the company's own GENESSA Picture Engine, 120Hz Clear Motion Drive III, 4,000:1 contrast ratio, HDMI CEC support and a low-profile tuner (TU-CX100) that can be "separated from the monitor and placed horizontally or stood vertically on a tabletop, or hung on the wall." Mum's the word on pricing, but you can certainly say we're overly anxious to see how this puppy looks.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/jvc-debuts-42-inch-lt-42wx70-lcd-hdtv-covers-96-of-adobergb-color-space/">JVC debuts 42-inch LT-42WX70 LCD HDTV: covers 96% of AdobeRGB color space</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/jvc-debuts-42-inch-lt-42wx70-lcd-hdtv-covers-96-of-adobergb-color-space/1263538/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/01/ces09-jvc-tu-cx100-_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/jvc-debuts-42-inch-lt-42wx70-lcd-hdtv-covers-96-of-adobergb-color-space/1263539/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/01/ces09-jvc_tu-cx100-_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/jvc-debuts-42-inch-lt-42wx70-lcd-hdtv-covers-96-of-adobergb-color-space/1263540/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/01/ces09-jvc_tu-cx100_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/lcd/" rel="tag">LCD</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/07/jvc-debuts-42-inch-lt-42wx70-lcd-hdtv-covers-96-of-adobergb-co/">JVC debuts 42-inch LT-42WX70 LCD HDTV: covers 96% of AdobeRGB color space</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Wed, 07 Jan 2009 11:46:00 EST. Our lucky friends in the UK market just got a couple of new toys from <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/JVC/">JVC</a> in the form of <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/Freeview/">Freeview+</a> recording LCD TVs. The LT-26DE9 and LT-32DE9 pack dual tuners and a 160GB drive on the DVR side. The Freeview+ DVR section packs some nice features, most notably Accurate recording that adjusts the recording start and stop times based on data buried in the broadcast (something we'd like to see on our TiVos). Sadly, though, neither model is a 1080p panel -- not that you need all those pixels on a 32-inch display, but if spec bragging is a pastime of yours, consider yourself warned.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/dvrs/" rel="tag">DVRs</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/01/07/jvc-launches-uk-freeview-lcds/">JVC launches UK Freeview+ LCDs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Wed, 07 Jan 2009 03:19:00 EST. While Samsung's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/05/samsung-prepping-6-5mm-lcd-for-ces/">latest</a> may be slightly narrower, JVC swears its CES prototype will be the lightest 32-inch LCD out, weighing a mere 5kg its perfect for ceiling mounted installations. At 7mm thick they've managed to squeeze 1080p resolution and LED backlighting out of 50% of the materials and less mercury used to produce current designs. A hands on should settle the battle of the thin, expect <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/28/iphone-3g-vs-sonys-40-inch-xz1-lcd-fight/">iPhone comparison</a> pics and contentious weigh ins usually reserved for heavyweight bouts this week in Las Vegas. With just about every new set out besting those newfangled <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/ENERGY+STAR+3.0/">Energy Star 3.0 requirements</a>, we're not so sure why JVC would choose to brag about it. Unless, of course, it has really trumped practically every other set out there in terms of efficiency. As fate would have it, that's exactly what the outfit is claiming, noting that in the 32-inch class, JVC is "tied for the most efficient TV," while in the 40- to 42-inch and 46- to 47-inch classes, it "swept the first four places, in every case significantly more efficient than the Energy Star requirement." All in all, JVC's sets managed to outperformed the baselines by anywhere from 29- to 60-percent, instantly skyrocketing them onto the must-buy list of tree huggers the world over. Check the full release after the break.<p><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/12/12/jvc-brags-about-smashing-energy-star-3-0-requirements/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>JVC brags about smashing Energy Star 3.0 requirements</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/misc/" rel="tag">Misc</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/lcd/" rel="tag">LCD</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/12/12/jvc-brags-about-smashing-energy-star-3-0-requirements/">JVC brags about smashing Energy Star 3.0 requirements</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Fri, 12 Dec 2008 09:09:00 EST. Is bigger always better? JVC's new LED display in <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/timessquare">Times Square</a> doesn't have the size of <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/11/22/humongous-led-display-at-walgreens-in-times-square-gets-detailed/">Walgreens</a> or <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/07/15/toshiba-lights-up-massive-led-hdtv-in-times-square/">Toshiba</a> (and lets be real, no one is touching <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/10/08/worlds-largest-led-screen-coming-to-dubai/">Dubai</a>) but it is the first one in proper 720p (1280x720) resolution, no scaling or head tilting necessary here. After calling the crossroads of the world home since 1979, the new improved board lit up yesterday at 19 x 34-feet, capable of displaying 60fps with a mere 8mm pixel pitch ensuring things look good even close up. You can thank the same Clear Channel Spectacolor and D3 LED folks that were behind the Walgreens installation for this 12,500 lb screen, and we suppose you can also blame them for not letting us play some Call of Duty on it as well. Clearly, just one hue for JVC's <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/09/05/eyes-on-with-jvcs-dla-hd750-1080p-projector/">DLA-HD750</a> 1080p projector wasn't enough, but the outfit's making darn sure that few people ever see the alternative color. Just 200 of the all white DLA-HD750-W models will ever be released, and so far as we can tell, they'll all be up for grabs in Japan. As for specs, you can expect a delightful Full HD native resolution, 50,000:1 contrast ratio, 900 lumens, twin HDMI ports, VGA / S-Video / composite inputs and a &yen;756,000 ($7,940) sticker. What? You didn't expect such a rare beast to be a bargain, did you?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.aboutprojectors.com/news/2008/11/28/jvc-release-dla-hd750-limited-edition-projectors/">AboutProjectors</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/projector/" rel="tag">Projector</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/12/02/jvc-reveals-limited-edition-white-dla-hd750-1080p-projector/">JVC reveals limited edition white DLA-HD750 1080p projector</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Tue, 02 Dec 2008 13:58:00 EST. It's nearly time for JVC to drop yet another iPod dock-infused HDTV on us at CES 2009 (just a guess, is all), but for those looking for the model first <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/01/06/jvc-rocks-lcd-ipod-docks/">introduced</a> in January 2008, here's a bit of introspective. If you'll recall, we already heard <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/10/01/jvcs-ipod-friendly-lt-42p789-lcd-hdtv-gets-reviewed/">pretty positive things</a> about the 42-inch version of this same set, but <em>AV Revolution</em> took things much, much deeper with its look at the 47-inch LT-47P789. We'll save the details for those who care, but the long and short of it is this: in the case of this particular unit, "neither the TV's performance nor the TeleDock implementation is as good as it could be." That said, the street price of around $1,500 isn't half bad, and while it won't put a smile on the face of a videophile, it should function just fine as an "everyday or second-room TV" for those who can't seem to escape their iPod.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/reviews/" rel="tag">Reviews</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/lcd/" rel="tag">LCD</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/12/02/jvcs-ipod-lovin-lt-47p789-lcd-hdtv-gets-in-depth-review/">JVC's iPod-lovin' LT-47P789 LCD HDTV gets in-depth review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Tue, 02 Dec 2008 11:40:00 EST. We're not exactly sure why we're just now beginning to see a rash of new <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/11/22/sonys-bravia-kdl-26m4000-r-lcd-hdtv-reviewed/">bedroom-sized HDTVs</a> again, but we'll go the safe route and pick "<a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/economy/">economy</a>." At any rate, JVC's got a unique one on its hands with the LT-26DE9BJ, a 26-inch LCD TV with a 160GB hard drive built-in to handle the PVR duties. The set, which is available now in the UK, also boasts a Freeview tuner and an 8-day EPG. Under scrutiny, the tele held up fairly well, with critics finding the image quality to be "exceptionally sharp" with both SD and HD material. The recording features were also admired, but the "average black levels" kept it from receiving a wholehearted recommendation. Still, if you can manage to find this one for a deep discount (sticker is &pound;500), you just might have a winner on your hands.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/reviews/" rel="tag">Reviews</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/dvrs/" rel="tag">DVRs</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/jvc/" rel="tag">JVC</a>, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/category/lcd/" rel="tag">LCD</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/12/01/jvcs-dvr-packin-lt-26de9bj-lcd-hdtv-gets-reviewed/">JVC's DVR-packin' LT-26DE9BJ LCD HDTV gets reviewed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://hd.engadget.com">Engadget HD</a> on Mon, 01 Dec 2008 00:19:00 EST.
