It's now teasing the device as the Finder, and some escaped details explain just how it's getting to that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/huawei-ascend-p1-s-and-p1-hands-on/">Ascend P1 S</a>-busting dimension as well as where it sits in the smartphone pantheon. <em>TGBus</em> understands the Finder should use a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/28/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-review/">familiar-sounding</a> 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen -- much thinner than an LCD -- as well as a dual-core 1.5GHz processor of an unspecified make and the virtually pre-requisite 8-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front cameras. The lot should run on a customized version of Android 4.0. If all goes to the still somewhat unofficial plan, the Finder could be ready for pre-orders on June 6th at a not-insignificant &yen;3,999 ($631) off-contract. We're mostly waiting on in-store dates and the possibility of snapping one up without a long flight to China.</p><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/26/oppo-super-skinny-finder-smartphone-gets-many-more-details/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Oppo's super-skinny Finder smartphone gets many more details, should reach pre-orders June 6th (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/26/oppo-super-skinny-finder-smartphone-gets-many-more-details/">Oppo's super-skinny Finder smartphone gets many more details, should reach pre-orders June 6th (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 26 May 2012 18:04:00 EST. Instead, what we have here is an exclusive leak that shows off a 6.65mm-thick device -- just 0.03mm thinner than the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/huawei-ascend-p1-s-and-p1-hands-on/">Ascend P1 S</a> from local rival Huawei. In other words, if all goes well then Oppo will have us the world's slimmest smartphone. Details are scarce at the moment, but judging by the above picture this phone will come with a metallic bezel of some sort, along with three capacitive buttons and a three-pin contact for dock connection. Obviously, stay tuned for more deets.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/25/oppo-6-65mm-thick-smartphone/">Oppo teases 6.65mm-thick smartphone, about to steal 'world's thinnest' title from Huawei</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 25 Apr 2012 00:47:00 EST. We didn't exactly get the most extensive look at Oppo's new Android-based X903 smartphone when the company announced it with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/16/oppo-announces-x903-smartphone-leaves-leonardo-dicaprio-confuse/">Leonardo DiCaprio's help</a> earlier this month, but our pals from <em>Engadget Chinese</em> thankfully managed to come through on that front in a big way. As you can see, the phone's brushed metal exterior certainly makes this one an eye catcher, although that apparently also contributes to a weight that's a tad on the heavy side (there's also a full QWERTY keyboard tucked underneath, albeit one that apparently suffers a bit from some short key travel). Those trade-offs also extend to some of the phones specs; you'll get a high-end 4-inch IPS display, for instance, but you'll have to make do without a front-facing camera. Hit the source link below for the full preview.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/22/oppos-android-based-x903-smartphone-gets-previewed/">Oppo's Android-based X903 smartphone gets previewed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 22 Aug 2011 18:33:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/oppo/">Oppo</a>, beloved maker of a variety of electronics rarely released outside of China, is jumping into the smartphone business with an Android-powered slider called the Oppo X903. Take the following specs with a pinch of salt, but the device is believed to have a 1GHz Qualcomm <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Snapdragon+MSM+8255/">Snapdragon MSM8255 CPU</a> and comes with an eight megapixel camera and a 3.97-inch WVGA IPS screen. So far, so normal -- what's not normal is the ad campaign for the phone, in which a bemused Leonardo DiCaprio stares glumly out of a moving train as a woman writes "find me" in condensation on a perfectly clean window. That's right after the break and you won't have to look too hard to find press shots of the phone itself either. They're down there in the gallery.<br />

If you're one of the audiophiles Oppo is targeting with its new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/20/oppo-reveals-new-bdp-95-blu-ray-player-aimed-at-audiophiles/">BDP-95 Blu-ray player</a>, click the read link to get in line first for the new hardware. Other than preorders being available, it appears that the predicted ship date has slipped to "early March" but if toroidal power supplies and SABRE 32-bit digital-to-analog converters are your thing, we're sure you'll be willing to wait until then to shell out your $999. Of course, that's twice the price of the base model <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/10/oppo-officially-anounces-bdp-93-blu-ray-player-shows-off-full-s/">BDP-93</a> that keeps the Blu-ray 3D and dual HDMI out accoutrements plus is available right now -- your choice.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/05/oppo-opens-up-preorders-for-the-bdp-95-blu-ray-player-at-999/">Oppo opens up preorders for the BDP-95 Blu-ray player at $999</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 05 Feb 2011 15:57:00 EST. Just as <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/oppo">Oppo's</a> latest <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/10/oppo-officially-anounces-bdp-93-blu-ray-player-shows-off-full-s/">BDP-93 Blu-ray player</a> reaches homes in increasing numbers, the company has queued up some new hardware for 2011 with the BDP-95. This player sports many of the features of the BDP-93, but adds on a SABRE 32-bit DAC, toroidal power supply and all new chassis designed to deliver improved analog audio performance. No word on price yet but it's scheduled to arrive in February, check Oppo's site for the full specs and the usual registration for notification when it's available.<br />

It hasn't been long since <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/oppo">Oppo's</a> well-received BDP-83 <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/07/oppos-long-awaited-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-now-shipping/">made its debut</a>, but now it's gone, and the company has fleshed out details on the successor to the throne, the BDP-93. say hello to another universal player, now updated with Blu-ray 3D and streaming access to Netflix and Blockbuster over WiFi N. There's two HDMI 1.4a outputs in case your receiver isn't 3D passthrough ready, an eSATA port for playback from hard drives and two USB ports. Retail price? $499. If this is the player you've been waiting for you're probably already on the list, but if not click the source link for a full list of specs on Oppo's site and to register for notification when it goes on sale "soon."<br />

After wisely avoiding being drowned out by the din of CES product launches <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/oppo">Oppo</a> has made official its new BDP-80 Blu-ray player. A <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/12/22/oppo-to-add-a-lower-cost-blu-ray-player-to-its-lineup/">lower priced version</a> of the existing <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/bdp-83">BDP-83</a> hardware (a comparison that should be familiar to owners of the company's <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2008/03/11/oppos-dv-983h-upconverting-dvd-deck-marks-the-end-of-the-line/">DV-980H/DV-983H</a> DVD players,) it still features BD-Live compatibility, DVD-Audio and SACD playback but drops the ABT2010 video processor, aluminum faceplate and some of the audio capabilities of its big brother. Other items sliced to get the price down to $289 from $499 are IR in/out, RS-232 control interfaces, and a backlit remote. Assuming one doesn't want to wait for the <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2010/01/16/lexicon-busted-passing-oppo-off-as-a-3500-blu-ray-player/">rebadged $2,500 Lexicon edition</a>, it should be on sale "soon." Universal player fans looking to save a couple of bucks or bring their own video processor to the party can check Oppo's comparison page or the press release after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/25/oppo-adds-a-second-cheaper-blu-ray-player-option-with-the-289/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Oppo adds a cheaper Blu-ray player to its lineup with the $289 BDP-80</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/25/oppo-adds-a-second-cheaper-blu-ray-player-option-with-the-289/">Oppo adds a cheaper Blu-ray player to its lineup with the $289 BDP-80</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 25 Jan 2010 05:03:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">Another day, another <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/05/spring-design-alex-hands-on/">Android e-reader.</a> We apologize for not sounding overly enthusiastic about this one, but going off of the picture of the OPPO Enjoy we don't anticipate the 6-inch e-ink reader to be the next Kindle or Nook killer. The rest of the specs are unknown, though it looks like the main controls are the trackball on the right edge<span class="content"> and touch navigation keys on the left. You know what, maybe we're being too pessimistic. Perhaps the Enjoy really runs the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/16/next-android-version-will-be-called-froyo-says-erick-tseng/">next version of Android</a>, is <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/tegra+2/">Tegra 2 </a>powered and actually has a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/color+e-ink/">color display</a>. If Lexicon is your favorite brand then here's a shocker, the company figured if it isn't broke, then don't fix it and grabbed an Oppo <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/BDP83/">BDP-83</a> Blu-ray player and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/24/lexicon-prepping-bd-30-blu-ray-deck-for-cedia/">encased it into a high end chassis and listed it for $3500</a> -- a $3000 case, wow? We know this type of thing goes on all the time in the world of electronics, but wow, this is just unbelievable. The folks at Audioholics didn't believe it either, so they stripped the two players down and did some bench testing to reveal that indeed both were identical -- other than the case that is. Now to be fair, we realize that companies like Lexicon probably sell this to distributors for $1000 and the rest is all retailer markup, and of course Lexicon insists it has made upgrades beyond that of the Oppo, but come on, this is just wrong.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/16/lexicon-busted-passing-oppo-off-as-a-3500-blu-ray-player/">Lexicon busted passing Oppo off as a $3500 Blu-ray player</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 16 Jan 2010 11:58:00 EST. Dreamer has finally found a partner in its <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/dreamer">Blu-ray powered IPTV fantasy</a> now that Blu-TV has debuted on the <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/bdp-83">OPPO BDP-83</a>. As the company envisions it, once loaded, it turns your BD-Live capable Blu-ray player into a video and interactive content gateway anyone can develop apps for once the SDK is released. Already powering an IPTV service in Korea, we got a quick demo of the software running on a PS3 in Dreamer's CES booth and flipped through a quick selection of online marketplaces, simple games and video services. We're not sure how many manufacturers will warm to the idea of opening up players currently limited to their choice of streaming services, but if the apps start to flow, having this as an embedded option could be a differentiating feature as player prices dive.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/09/blu-tv-brings-interactive-iptv-to-disc-players-starting-with-th/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Blu-TV brings interactive IPTV to disc players, starting with the BDP-83</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/09/blu-tv-brings-interactive-iptv-to-disc-players-starting-with-th/">Blu-TV brings interactive IPTV to disc players, starting with the BDP-83</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 09 Jan 2010 14:57:00 EST. One of the most well respected Blu-ray player manufacturers out there mentioned on its Twitter feed that it plans to announce a lower cost option in early January 2010. We interpret this to mean that during CES, in a few weeks, that all the details will be revealed. This is certainly good news for Oppo fans, although we really wonder what sacrifices we'll have to make to take advantage of the lower price. After all, it isn't like it's as simple as dropping a few streaming features.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/22/oppo-to-add-a-lower-cost-blu-ray-player-to-its-lineup/">Oppo to add a lower cost Blu-ray player to its lineup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 22 Dec 2009 11:43:00 EST. It's been a long (long!) time coming, but we're thrilled to finally be able to say that OPPO's multifaceted <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/bdp-83/">BDP-83</a> is shipping en masse to those willing to part with five bills (or $500, for those working without conversion tables). It's been a long (long!) time coming, but we're thrilled to finally be able to say that OPPO's multifaceted <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/bdp-83/">BDP-83</a> is shipping en masse to those willing to part with five bills (or $500, for those working without conversion tables). Weren't on the invited pre-order list for the Oppo <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/bdp-83">BDP-83</a> Blu-ray player? Our tipster Mike gave us the heads up that those not on the initial list can now go ahead and lay down $499 to pre-order one of the universal players, expected to ship sometime between July 1 - 3. All you have to do is check out our <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/23/oppo-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-first-impressions/">hands on</a> or the comments from some previous owners to see why this fast loading, SACD &amp; DVD-Audio playing box is so highly regarded already.<br /><br />[Thanks, <a href="http://3n1hosting.com/~mikec/">Mike</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/30/oppo-bdp-83-pre-orders-now-open-for-all-in-north-america/">Oppo BDP-83 pre-orders now open for all (in North America)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 30 Jun 2009 16:23:00 EST. On the list for the Oppo <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/bdp-83">BDP-83</a> universal Blu-ray player? With responses from the second round of beta testers showing over 90% approving of release to the general public, our tipster reports those invited to pre-order should already have their emails giving an opportunity to complete their $499 purchase and get one shipped home later this month. While we double check our spam filters just in case, you can check Oppo's site or the accompanying AVS Forum thread for more details on exactly what people love, really love, or are still experiencing glitches with this BD / DVD / SACD and DVD-Audio playing powerhouse.<br /><br />[Thanks, Jesse]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/14/oppo-bdp-83-completes-second-round-of-testing-pre-order-invites/">Oppo BDP-83 completes second round of testing, pre-order invites going out</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 14 May 2009 09:13:00 EST. Haven't nabbed one of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/OPPO/">OPPO</a>'s well put together <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/bdp-83">BDP-83</a> Blu-ray players yet? Those who signed up early and got on the invitation list should be getting their hands on one very soon for $499 with an expected ship date of May 4. Everyone else? Read through our first impressions again (high build quality, fast loads, great audio decoding and easy to use menus) and wait for a wider release.<br /><br />[Thanks, Dhomas]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/oppo-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-hands-on/">OPPO BDP-83 universal Blu-ray player hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/oppo-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-hands-on/#1442380"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/oppo-bdp-83-player-(1)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/oppo-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-hands-on/#1442396"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/oppo-bdp-83-player-(10)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/oppo-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-hands-on/#1442397"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/oppo-bdp-83-player-(11)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/oppo-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-hands-on/#1442398"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/oppo-bdp-83-player-(12)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/oppo-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-hands-on/#1442399"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/oppo-bdp-83-player-(13)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/29/oppo-bdp-83-blu-ray-players-shipping-to-invited-customers/">OPPO BDP-83 Blu-ray players shipping to invited customers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 29 Apr 2009 19:44:00 EST. Until now, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/25/digital-video-essentials-hd-basics-gets-reviewed/"><em>Digital Video Essentials</em></a> was pretty much the only legitimate option when it came to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/calibration/">calibrating</a> via Blu-ray player. At long last, a little competition has stepped into the field. Stacey Spears and Don Munsil -- creators of the DVD Player Benchmark and Progressive Scan Shootout at Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity -- has just released the <em>Spears &amp; Munsil High Definition Benchmark: Blu-ray Edition</em>. The disc is chock full of test material and calibration patterns to help HD junkies adjust their home theater systems for optimal playback, and according to co-creator Stacey Spears, all of the material was created from scratch. Coincidentally enough, this very disc was bundled with our <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/23/oppo-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-first-impressions/">OPPO BDP-83 test deck</a>, but given that it's on sale now at Amazon and direct from OPPO, we suppose that's not too terribly shocking. MSRP is pegged at $24.99, and you'll find lots more details waiting in the read link.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/spears-and-munsil-high-definition-benchmark-tunes-up-your-blu-ray-player-1/">Spears &amp; Munsil High Definition Benchmark tunes up your Blu-ray player</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/spears-and-munsil-high-definition-benchmark-tunes-up-your-blu-ray-player-1/#1446518"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/spears-munsil_calibration_bd_4733_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/spears-and-munsil-high-definition-benchmark-tunes-up-your-blu-ray-player-1/#1446517"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/spears-munsil_calibration_bd_4734_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/spears-and-munsil-high-definition-benchmark-tunes-up-your-blu-ray-player-1/#1446516"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/spears-munsil_calibration_bd_4735_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/spears-and-munsil-high-definition-benchmark-tunes-up-your-blu-ray-player-1/#1446515"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/spears-munsil_calibration_bd_4737_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/spears-and-munsil-high-definition-benchmark-tunes-up-your-blu-ray-player-1/#1446514"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/spears-munsil_calibration_bd_4738_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/misc/" rel="tag">Misc</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/23/spears-and-munsil-ships-blu-ray-high-definition-benchmark-calibrat/">Spears &amp; Munsil ships Blu-ray High Definition Benchmark calibration disc</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 23 Mar 2009 19:47:00 EST. We were <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/20/oppo-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-hands-on/">fortunate enough</a> to get one of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/OPPO/">OPPO</a>'s new universal Blu-ray players (the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/11/oppo-coughs-up-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-details/">BDP-83</a>) in for the weekend, and while we were cordially asked to withhold a "full review" due to the beta firmware loaded on, we were allowed to pass along less formal informational pieces. Right from the start, we adored the solid build quality and the simplistic styling. After firing it up and going through the basic setup process (which was very well laid out, might we add), we were presented with an OPPO Blu-ray screen that was just begging for us to insert a movie. And so we did. Follow us past the break for a rundown of our initial impressions.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/23/oppo-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-first-impressions/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>OPPO BDP-83 universal Blu-ray player first impressions</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/reviews/" rel="tag">Reviews</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/23/oppo-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-first-impressions/">OPPO BDP-83 universal Blu-ray player first impressions</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 23 Mar 2009 10:25:00 EST. Here she is -- the world's very first universal Blu-ray player. Oh sure, we may have heard of Denon's absurdly expensive <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/12/05/denon-prices-dvd-a1udci-universal-blu-ray-player-for-us-market/">DVD-A1UD</a> first, but that bad boy just got <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2009/02/01/denon-delays-japanese-delivery-of-its-dvd-a1ud-universal-blu-ray?icid=sphere_blogsmith_inpage_engadgethd">delayed</a> for a <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2009/03/20/denon-japan-delays-dvd-a1ud-universal-bd-player-till-october/">second time</a> over in Japan. <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/OPPO/">OPPO</a>, on the other hand, has managed to push out a few hundred of these <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/12/11/oppo-coughs-up-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-details/">BDP-83</a> decks to <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2009/02/25/oppo-to-start-bdp-83-early-adoption-program/">brave beta testers</a> across America, and we were fortunate enough to score one. The player came boxed in what was far and away the most elaborate packaging we'd seen for a BD player -- particularly one that's priced at just $499 for the beta users (an MSRP for production units has yet to be finalized). <br /><br />All the goods you want are here, including Blu-ray Profile 2.0 support, internal decoding of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio formats, SACD playback and the promise of DVD-Audio compatibility in the future. Upon unboxing the unit, we were pleased with the rigid chassis and felt the design was simple yet classy. The remote seemed accommodating enough, and the port selection 'round back was admirable. We're planning to fire it up this weekend to see just how far along this beta firmware is, but 'til then, hit the gallery below to have a look at what's sure to become a favorite amongst well informed home theater aficionados.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/oppo-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-hands-on/">OPPO BDP-83 universal Blu-ray player hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/oppo-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-hands-on/#1442380"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/oppo-bdp-83-player-(1)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/oppo-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-hands-on/#1442396"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/oppo-bdp-83-player-(10)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/oppo-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-hands-on/#1442397"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/oppo-bdp-83-player-(11)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/oppo-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-hands-on/#1442398"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/oppo-bdp-83-player-(12)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/oppo-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-hands-on/#1442399"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2009/03/oppo-bdp-83-player-(13)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/homeentertainment/" rel="tag">Home Entertainment</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/20/oppo-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-hands-on/">OPPO BDP-83 universal Blu-ray player hands-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 20 Mar 2009 11:01:00 EST. Seriously, why aren't more companies like this? In a somewhat unprecedented move, OPPO Digital has decided to let the people choose how it will proceed with the production of its highly anticipated universal Blu-ray player. Its Early Adoption Program will allow 50 randomly selected customers to purchase the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/BDP-83/">BDP-83</a> for $499 before the official release; after those 50 have tested things out for a week or so, they'll be required to vote on whether the program should be extended or suspended. If 70 percent or more votes to expand, OPPO will select another 100 individuals to join the original 50 in testing. We're told that the deck will be shipped with a pre-production firmware version that will be updated "from time to time." Also of note, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/OPPO/">OPPO</a> has confirmed Profile 2.0 support, internal decoding of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio formats and that DVD-Audio playback is still in the works. Looking to mix in some illegal ROM downloading action with your standard PMP activities? Oppo's got your number with the Muse G11, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/26/oppos-muse-g11-gets-real/">confirmed</a> back in September and just now getting a few more details. The swiveling 3.2-inch, 432 x 240 touchscreen device offers a scant 4GB of storage, low for its $161 asking price, but support for extensive audio and video formats, text to speech capabilities, and integrated FM tuning make it a bit more functional than your average media player. Of course its biggest draw will be among the gaming community thanks to its d-pad and dedicated buttons, but we still don't have any confirmation of what sort of games it'll support out of the box -- nor any idea of when we might be able to get our hands on one. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.pmptoday.com/2008/12/29/oppo-muse-g11-priced/">PMP Today</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/30/oppos-muse-g11-is-more-portable-than-an-snes-cheaper-than-an-i/">Oppo's Muse G11 is more portable than an SNES, cheaper than an iPod Touch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 30 Dec 2008 10:54:00 EST. Lookie, lookie -- we just might have a winner on our hands here. While Denon just announced the world's first <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/05/denon-prices-dvd-a1udci-universal-blu-ray-player-for-us-market/">universal Blu-ray player at $3,800</a>, the highly respected <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Oppo/">Oppo</a> is looking to trump said offering with a low-cost version of its own. The heretofore elusive <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/BDP+83/">BDP-83 </a>has finally been detailed, as consumers who signed up to know more have received an email (posted in full after the break) with oodles of delicious information. For starters, the player will indeed be fully universal -- a Profile 2.0 BD deck with SACD, DVD and DVD-Audio support -- and for SACD playback, it will support DSD over HDMI and DSD-to-analog without any PCM conversion. As of now, the unit is currently undergoing "an extensive and thorough beta test program," and Oppo is considering opening up an "Early Adoption Program" later this month to give a limited number to mere mortals for feedback. Obviously, there's no finalized date for release, but the anticipated price will hover between $499 and $599.<br /><br />[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/11/oppo-coughs-up-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-details/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Oppo coughs up BDP-83 universal Blu-ray player details</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/other-formats/" rel="tag">Other formats</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/11/oppo-coughs-up-bdp-83-universal-blu-ray-player-details/">Oppo coughs up BDP-83 universal Blu-ray player details</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 11 Dec 2008 09:57:00 EST. It's not that Oppo's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/oppo-joins-the-blu-ray-revolution-with-bdp-s83-deck/">BDP-83</a> is completely unexpected or anything, but this marks the first time the company is publicly admitting that the device is more than a show floor spectacle. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Oppo/">Oppo</a> has created a placeholder for the BD deck in order to give prospective buyers a chance to be notified of the unit's release. Unfortunately, all that we're given to chew on now is a pair of high-res images, so feel free to jump past the break and peek the other if the one above just isn't doing it for you. C'mon Oppo -- drop this puppy for under $150 and make yourself some new friends.<br /><br />[Thanks, mostly a lurker]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/12/oppo-teases-bdp-83-blu-ray-player-offers-no-vital-information/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Oppo teases BDP-83 Blu-ray player, offers no vital information</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/12/oppo-teases-bdp-83-blu-ray-player-offers-no-vital-information/">Oppo teases BDP-83 Blu-ray player, offers no vital information</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 12 Nov 2008 20:37:00 EST. In our perpetual search for the perfect "miniature PMP that just so happens to play SNES games with a reasonable control scheme," the Oppo Muse G11 is certainly a forerunner. We swooned when we saw those <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/21/oppo-concepts-foreshadow-new-gaming-handhelds/">swivel-display technical drawings</a>, and now Oppo has the first prototype of the device out and about. We're still a little short on tech specs, but as long as that mystery processor is prepared to draw Chrono Trigger with pixel-perfect precision, we couldn't care less.<br /> <br /> [Via <a href="http:// http://www.pmptoday.com/2008/09/25/oppo-smart-g11-muse-introduced/">PMP Today</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/26/oppos-muse-g11-gets-real/">Oppo's Muse G11 gets real</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 26 Sep 2008 23:52:00 EST. Oppo, best known for its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/08/oppo-pushes-dv-980h-upconverting-dvd-player-for-mothers-day/">upconverting DVD players</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/18/oppos-dv-983h-universal-player-gets-reviewed/">universal decks</a>, has apparently decided to join the BD camp with little to no fuss. The BDP S83 was spotted over at the company's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CEDIA/">CEDIA</a> booth, and while no real details were provided ("it's loaded" is all we have to go on), we can't see any harm in having yet another alternative. Unless it's $350+, in which case we'll roll our eyes and stomp away with our arms crossed.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/05/oppo-joins-the-blu-ray-revolution-with-bdp-s83-deck/">Oppo joins the Blu-ray revolution with BDP S83 deck</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 05 Sep 2008 22:44:00 EST. Generally speaking, Oppo has stuck to its bread-and-butter: decently stylish <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/24/oppo-offers-up-sleek-s11-portable-media-player/">PMPs</a> and a well-received family of <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/05/08/oppo-pushes-dv-980h-upconverting-dvd-player-for-mothers-day/">upscaling DVD players</a>, respectively. Now, however, we're seeing a trio of concepts which allude to a future unit (or three) boasting gaming functionality. Unfortunately, details beyond that are few and far between, and we're not even certain of their place of origin. Go 'head <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Oppo/">Oppo</a> -- get down with your bad self. This S11 portable media player may not be the most easily recognized on the streets, but it sure has a lot going for it. Aside from the sleek (dare we say sexy?) enclosure, the unit packs a 3-inch 400 x 240 resolution touch panel, video out port, integrated photo viewer / calender / stopwatch / calculator, a couple of games, file search capabilities and support for MP3, WMA, OGG, FLAC, AAC and APE audio files. On the video front, it'll play nice with AVI, DivX, XviD, RM, RMVB and FLV formats. If the 4GB of internal memory just isn't enough, there's also a microSD slot for loading in additional media. Check out a video preview of the thing just after the break before dropping $163.99, though.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/24/oppo-offers-up-sleek-s11-portable-media-player/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Oppo offers up sleek S11 portable media player</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/24/oppo-offers-up-sleek-s11-portable-media-player/">Oppo offers up sleek S11 portable media player</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 24 May 2008 04:42:00 EST. Mum a little <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/09/memorex-pushes-out-two-digiframes-for-proactive-mothers-day-sho/">overwhelmed</a> with digiframes? Fret not, as OPPO Digital is telling you straight up that a brand new upconverting DVD player is sure to make this Sunday one to remember. C'mon, even you know your mother wouldn't approve of spending a mortgage payment or two on a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/29/study-finds-high-prices-hamstrung-players-limiting-blu-rays-do/">hamstrung Blu-ray player</a>, and that much newer (and nicer) DV-983H just <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/18/oppos-dv-983h-universal-player-gets-reviewed/">isn't worth the coin</a>. Our only question is how desperate must you be (or overran with excess inventory) to pimp a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/16/oppo-releases-the-dv-980h-1080p-up-converting-dvd-player/">9-month old</a> upscaling DVD player for Mom's Day? When Oppo decided to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/11/oppos-dv-983h-upconverting-dvd-deck-marks-the-end-of-the-line/">exit the DVD deck business</a> with a bang, it actually did precisely that. According to a recent review of the firm's last DVD spinner over at <em>CNET</em>, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/03/oppos-upscaling-dv-983h-universal-player-up-for-pre-order/">DV-983H</a> was summed up as practically the "ultimate standard-def disc player," with excellent image quality on DVDs, great upconverting abilities, included DVD-Audio / SACD support and 7.1-channel analog outs to boot. Reviewers were even able to make the unit region-free courtesy of a simple remote code hack, and it was said to have handled PAL discs like a champ. On the downside, the exorbitantly high price tag ($399) really makes it unattractive to most everyone, but the impeccable feature set still enabled it to net a solid 8.4 out of 10 rating. In all actuality, there's a slim chance you'll be picking this up before a serious price drop, but if you're <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/25/wait-for-blu-ray-player-prices-to-sink-or-just-buy-in-now/">not quite ready</a> to go Blu, this here is apparently the player to own.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/reviews/" rel="tag">Reviews</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/other-formats/" rel="tag">Other formats</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/18/oppos-dv-983h-universal-player-gets-reviewed/">Oppo's DV-983H universal player gets reviewed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 18 Apr 2008 13:11:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/03/oppos-upscaling-dv-983h-universal-player-up-for-pre-order/">Oppo DV-983H</a> upscaling DVD player announced last week is now officially available. Oppo's going out with a bang, for sure -- the unit has some good looking specs, especially the built in <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/AnchorBay/">Anchor Bay</a> (a.k.a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/dvdo/">DVDO</a>) VRS processing. But what's more significant is a bit of info we gleaned from the PR email accompanying the DV-983H release: the unit is the last DVD player that Oppo will be making. The company that made its name in upscaling DVD is moving whole hog into something else, and we're all-in on a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/20/oppo-next-to-create-a-new-blu-ray-player/">Blu-ray spinner</a>. Bring it on, Oppo! Though it's not the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/20/oppo-next-to-create-a-new-blu-ray-player/">elusive Blu-ray player</a> we're anxiously awaiting, Oppo's latest standalone deck is finally up for pre-order. The DV-983H universal player features 1080p upscaling of DVDs, SACD / Redbook CD / HDCD playback (no DVD-A?), optical / coaxial digital audio outputs, a USB 2.0 port, support for DTS, Dolby and Dolby Pro-Logic II, HDMI audio output supporting bit-stream and uncompressed multi-channel high resolution audio and a design that's actually not half bad. You'll also get a one-year warranty and a six-foot HDMI cable for $399, but we've got to say, picking this one up will be hard to do with knowledge of what's on the way.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.audiojunkies.com/blog/1135/oppo-dv983h-preorder">AudioJunkies</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/other-formats/" rel="tag">Other formats</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/03/oppos-upscaling-dv-983h-universal-player-up-for-pre-order/">Oppo's upscaling DV-983H universal player up for pre-order</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 03 Mar 2008 13:57:00 EST. This unit features a three-inch display, sleek top-mounted controls and support for a smorgasbord of formats including RM, RMVB, FLV, DAT, MPG, MPEG, AVI and 3GP. Furthermore, it'll also play nice with MP3, WAV, WMA, OGG and FLAC files, while the integrated photo viewer supports JPEG, BMP, GIF and PNG. Best of all, a 2GB iteration will run you just CNY899 ($119), but you'll have to make a quick trip overseas to pick one up. Check out a few more angles after the break.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.i4u.com/article12132.html">I4U News</a>, images courtesy of <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.imp3.net%2Farticles%2F1%2F2007_10%2F15598_1.html&amp;langpair=zh%7Cen&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;oe=UTF-8&amp;prev=%2Flanguage_tools">iMP3</a>]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/15/oppos-super-five-pmp-handles-formats-galore/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Oppo's Super Five PMP handles formats galore</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/15/oppos-super-five-pmp-handles-formats-galore/">Oppo's Super Five PMP handles formats galore</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 15 Oct 2007 19:29:00 EST. <p>Oppo has been at the forefront of the up-conversion DVD player market for a couple of years now. A few months ago they released the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/07/oppo-dv-981hd-adds-1080p-dvd-upscaling-loses-component-outs/">DV-981HD</a>, a 1080p up-conversion DVD player, but it was missing something - component video jacks. Sure, HDMI might be the cool kid on the playground but there are still a lot HDTVs that cannot play nicely with HDMI and rely on component for their high-def fun. Plus, the new DV-980H doesn't stop with just 1080p and some messily component outputs, oh no, 7.1 analog audio output along with a USB 2.0 port were added too. If you happen to be one of those folks that cannot make up their mind on which high-def format is right for you, the DV-980H is currently available for $169 on their website and will help make those standard DVDs look at least a little better. </p>

<a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/OPPO/">OPPO</a>, a PMP maker we've come to expect some interesting designs from (see the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/05/20/oppo-x31m-guitar-ish-shaped-dap/">guitar-shaped DAP</a> and the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/27/oppos-wearable-up-9-pendant-digital-audio-player/">pendant player</a>), is bringing something a little more tame to market. The 6.9mm thick Blast sports a 2.4-inch TFT screen, takes microSD cards, and can play back all the standards, like MP3, WMA, MP4, AVI, XVID, and FLAC, which is all well and good, though we've seen a million of these and counting. What's different in this case -- at least a little -- is that the Blast can supposedly play back FLV files, which gives it a certain <em>modern</em> flavor, and suggests that even mass-produced China-ware is getting caught up in the YouTube game. Not available anywhere even close to the US, price unknown.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.pmptoday.com/2007/07/24/oppo-announces-69mm-blast-pmp/">PMP Today</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/25/oppo-blast-pmp-is-blowing-up-your-flvs/">OPPO Blast PMP is blowing up your FLVs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 25 Jul 2007 06:39:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Oppo/">Oppo</a> most certainly is accustomed to cranking out digital music players with eye-catching <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/05/20/oppo-x31m-guitar-ish-shaped-dap/">designs</a>, and the pendant-styled UP-9 is no exception. Showcased in Korea, this wee <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/DAP/">DAP</a> sports a jeweled exterior, diminutive display for showing track names, time remaining, and battery life information, a built-in FM / AM radio tuner, recording functions, equalizer settings, and an obligatory lanyard for tossing around your neck, arm, or other extremity. The unit will reportedly come loaded with 1GB of internal capacity, and while there's no sign of an American release, those in South Korea can snag one for ?79,000 ($85).<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/wearables/" rel="tag">Wearables</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/27/oppos-wearable-up-9-pendant-digital-audio-player/">Oppo's wearable UP-9 pendant digital audio player</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 27 Jun 2007 03:02:00 EST. The V5 touts a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, three-inch touchscreen LCD, and a design that bears striking resemblance to your run-of-the-mill <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=digiframe">digiframe</a>. Nevertheless, the 2GB V5 relies on an overly simplistic control scheme, leaving the buttons on top of the unit's frame rather than around the bezel, and comes in at just 11-millimeters thick. Although the company seems a bit more interested in just how pretty this thing looks than dishing out the juicy details, we do know that your MP3 and MPEG4 files will play back just fine here, but any info concerning battery life, availability, or pricing are noticeably absent.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.themp3players.com/archives/2007/01/oppo-v5-introduced/">TheMP3Players</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/28/oppo-unveils-sleek-2gb-v5-widescreen-pmp/">Oppo unveils sleek 2GB V5 widescreen PMP</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 28 Jan 2007 06:30:00 EST.
