We tell ya, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/DirecTV/">DirecTV</a> has the cable carriers at their mercy when it comes to these <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/15/directvs-2009-inauguration-mix-channel-brings-every-angle-in-hd/">Mix Channels</a>. For tennis enthusiasts in particular, you'll be hard pressed to find a viewing setup superior to this. Starting on January 18th with the Australian Open, the company will be integrating ESPN2 and Tennis Channel feeds into its six-screens-in-one Mix Channel, and for the first time ever, it will all be in high-definition. Viewers will be able to see the network channel and five court channels on a single screen, with each screen providing its own audio stream. Better still, DirecTV subscribers can expect the same kind of coverage for the French Open, <a href="http://www.google.com/url?q=http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/17/directv-keeps-multi-screen-trend-alive-with-wimbledon-interactiv/&amp;sa=X&amp;oi=revisions_result&amp;resnum=1&amp;ct=result&amp;cd=1&amp;usg=AFQjCNHXl2rdq-9cYukT6pSVlB3vlbGAzw">Wimbledon</a> and US Open tournaments later this year. And don't be shocked to hear of something similar for the upcoming golf season -- we get the feeling DirecTV is really going for the jugular here.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/satellite/" rel="tag">Satellite</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sports/" rel="tag">Sports</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/16/directv-provides-best-hd-view-of-grand-slam-tennis-tournaments/">DirecTV provides best HD view of Grand Slam tennis tournaments</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 16 Jan 2009 09:37:00 EST. These latest additions bring the total to 59, which while impressive, is far from the 100 that was promised at CES last year -- no wonder they don't seem to have press event scheduled this year. The Tennis channel started producing HD content earlier this year and moving forward, all documentaries, series, and specials will be presented in our favorite format. As expected, most of the tennis tournaments will be in HD, including all US events, and many international events like French Open.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/satellite/" rel="tag">Satellite</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/new-content/" rel="tag">New content</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/31/tennis-hd-launches-on-directv/">Tennis HD launches on DirecTV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 31 Dec 2007 11:20:00 EST. Thankfully, we've got more positive news on the tennis front, as an agreement has reportedly been reached to allow <a href="http://chenhaixin.bb.engadgethd.com/tag/Directv/">DirecTV</a> subscribers to start catching the Tennis Channel later this summer. According to the network's CEO, a firm date for the launch hasn't been set, but "late August" appears to be a relatively safe bet. Of course, the feed <em>we're</em> all waiting for (yeah, the HD flavor) won't go live until November, but hopefully DirecTV will have had time to set up a few <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/28/the-truth-comes-out-about-directvs-100-hd-channels/">additional HD channels</a> to keep us occupied in the meantime.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/satellite/" rel="tag">Satellite</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sports/" rel="tag">Sports</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/17/directv-subscribers-to-get-tennis-channel-hd/">DirecTV subscribers to get Tennis Channel HD</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 17 Apr 2007 07:42:00 EST.
