<p>YouTube only recently came to Windows Phone 8 as a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/05/07/windows-phone-8-youtube-update/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">full-fledged app</a>, but its availability may be short-lived. According to documents obtained by <em>The Verge</em>, Google has requested that Microsoft remove the app from it Windows Phone Store -- and disable installations on devices -- immediately. The reason? Apparently the app didn't get Goog's stamp of approval before going live, and it blocks the ads that typically run on YouTube. Naturally, ads are an important source of revenue for both Google and no shortage of third parties, so Mountain View may not be out of line for crying foul. And that's not the only strike against Redmond: according to the cease and desist letter, YouTube on WP8 lets users download videos, in addition to streaming content that's been restricted on certain devices. Oh, and all the above-mentioned issues violate YouTube's Terms of Service. Google is giving MS until May 22nd to remove the app -- we're sure this isn't the last you'll hear on this subject.</p>

<p><strong>Update</strong>: Microsoft has responded. We have the full statement from a Microsoft spokesperson after the break.</p>

<p>Microsoft's Joe Belfiore has just tweeted that, at some point today, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/28/bbc-iplayer-reaching-windows-phone-within-weeks/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">BBC iPlayer</a> is coming to Windows Phone 8. It's been a long road getting to this point, as the BBC's and Microsoft's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/20/bbc-no-iplayer-on-windows-phone/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">conflicting technologies </a>don't play nicely with each other -- with this version being a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/03/05/bbc-iplayer-coming-to-windows-phone/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">browser-based shortcut</a> rather than a fully-featured app. Still, for the legion of British Windows Phone users dying for their <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/12/doctor-who-gets-an-extra-british-3d-special-for-its-50th-birthday/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><em>Doctor Who</em></a> fix while on the go, something is far better than nothing.</p>

<p><strong>Update:</strong> And it's official, so head down to the Windows Store link below to start downloading.</p>

<p>Perhaps to celebrate <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/05/07/skydrive-celebrates-250-million-users/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">passing</a> the 250 million user mark, SkyDrive is rolling out an update which introduces some nifty time-saving features. Now, you'll be able to view all your photos -- across folders and albums -- in a timeline view, with images grouped by event and date for easy searching. There are also filmstrip and slideshow modes, and, according to Microsoft's <em>Inside SkyDrive </em>blog, photo-upload times have been improved at least twofold. The update brings a few other goodies too: full-resolution camera uploads for all Windows Phone 8 devices worldwide, and new thumbnails for PowerPoint and Word files. The update will begin rolling out today and should make its way to all users within 48 hours.</p>

<p>Huawei and the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/04/23/huawei-loses-interest-in-us-market-for-its-telecom-equipment-aft/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">United States government</a> may <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/08/huawei-and-zte-congress-report-draft/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">have</a> their <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/09/huawei-zte-respond-to-congress/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">differences</a>, but here's something we can all agree on: Walmart's going to sell whatever it darn well pleases. Including, mind you, Huawei's first Windows Phone 8 smartphone. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/01/07/huawei-ascend-w1-hands-on-the-companys-first-windows-phone-8/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">W1</a> -- which has made <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/26/huawei-ascend-w1-o2-launch/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">inroads</a> in multiple <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/04/microsoft-4afrika-initiative-huawei-white-space/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">markets</a> already -- is heading to Yankee soil, with shipments expected to begin "this month" at Walmart.com and at select Walmart stores. For those in need of a refresher, it'll pack a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, a 4-inch IPS touchpanel, 1.7GB of user-available internal storage (expandable to 32GB via microSD card), a 5 megapixel rear camera (with a 0.3MP shooter on the front) and the latest iteration of Microsoft's mobile OS. Strangely, Huawei nor Walmart are saying what the damage will be, but it'll reportedly be priced "competitively" on a prepaid, no-contract plan.</p>

<p>It's not uncommon for an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/04/25/nokia-lumia-event-may-14/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">as yet announced</a> phone to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/04/05/nokia-lumia-928-spied-for-verizon/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">pop up on Twitter</a>, or via an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/03/02/nokia-lumia-928-possibly-seen-in-verizons-system/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">insider leak</a>. But a physical billboard? That takes some doing. If this image -- spotted out in the wild -- is to be believed, Nokia's Lumia 928 is as real as the day is long. The Verizon handset shown certainly fits the images we've already seen, and the low-light boast will stoke the coals of any Xenon or <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/pureview/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">PureView</a> rumors for sure. However, this spot is hardly Times Square, so until we see something a little more concrete, Lumia fans on Big Red will have to keep the faith <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/31/nokia-lumia-822-for-verizon-hands-on-video/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">with that 822</a>.</p>
